@@Honasek "Maybe in mainstream music" - that's when it COUNTS....it's easy to just 'mail it in' when you're already a big act....but the Stripes NEVER mailed it in...the difference between this and most garage bands (and believe me, i played in a giging garage band for over 15 years) is this is REALLY GOOD (while MOST garage bands suck ass).
This was absolutely mindblowing in 2004 and still mindblowing in 2019. I must've watched this so many times because I still remember every lick he does on the guitar.
When I was 15 years old my cousin introduced me to The White stripes. Soon after I began to learn to play the guitar, I tried to learn all of their song and wanted to be like Jack White. He was a really big inspiration and a huge influence on my posterior musical taste. After all this years, this performance still holds a place in my heart like non other. Such raw energy, such power and conection between Meg and Jack. I wish there's a way to thank Meg and Jack for all those great years of my teenage years in the meantime thank for the video
Ever since I first saw this performance on Conan, I haven't been able to get enough of it. All their Conan performances kicked ass but this one is like a drug.
I love how he just throws the guitar and mic on the floor like - fuck this shit! and then shits himself when he realises there was people watching, haha! That was fucking amazing!!
I was lucky enough to see The White Stripes live five times and they were always amazing but to have been there for that would have been something else! It was a perfect live music tv moment! I don't think I will ever see a band do something as special on tv as that again. I never get tired of seeing that peformance and it sums up how amazing the band really were!
damn it... this is rock and roll, one drummer with killer eyes.... one fender coronado, one guitar player and vocalist with the blues and genious running through their veins. you´re in live tv, and suddenly your vintage guitar gets unplugged... you enter in panic? no... you threw the guitar trhough the air, take the mic and improvise a 1930´s son house blues... john the revelator.... epic
The world needs this on 1080p
Jack White's guitar tone is set to 240p anyway
Jack tone is 8k in my ears anyway
I've watched this so often I'm wearing out the pixels.
Jack White defines the term 'rock star' for me better than anyone. One of the greatest showmen and guitarists of all time.
And that kids, is what rock&roll is about.
lower it to 144p, to hear it in all it's striped bare glory.
Love this particular version, awesome!!!
No band to date has ever put such anger, emotion and energy into a performance as much as this performance right here..
Maybe in mainstream music. In fact it is not at all rare to see garage bands putting this kind of effort.
Nirvana and The Hives

Whenever he sings this song his voice is like on another level of good. Especially the Goin' Back To Memphis part.

My favourite tv moment ever
good god! that was spectacular!! oh yea!!!
God dam this makes me go crazy!!!!!!!
One of my favorite moments in music history is when Jack plays that guitar solo upon the table with the slide...
Jimi burning his guitar,
Pete jumping arround,
Jimmy with his double-neck Gibson...
And Jack playing over Conan's desk . . . legendary
