Well that explains a lot!! I was about to spend more on a crank cocking mechanism than the crossbow cost, but I'll try shortening my cocking rope first to see if that makes it easier.
The simplicity of a recurve crossbow is captivating. Cocking a crossbow is a little awkward at first, but becomes like second nature with some practice. The most convenient place to hang your cocking rope between shots is to drape it around your neck. Just make sure it is not anywhere near your bow string or cables during the shot. The newer more powerful crossbows of today have such high poundage that is seems they would not be fun to shoot for long periods of time. Any crossbow around 150 pounds, with the right arrow setup (High FOC, bare shaft tuned, tough single bevel broadhead, 500+ grain arrow) is plenty lethal to harvest very large game. Fred Bear killed large game animals 1000 pound plus with a recurve shooting 35ish foot/pound of kinetic energy. Even the lightest adult crossbows are shooting in the 40s.

Thank you for this video I’m new to crossbow hunting and i was wondering about shortening the pull cocker rope I’m 6’ 3/4” tall and when my bow locks in my hands are up to the too of my chest it’s not bad the first few times but sighting it in shooting several times it gets hard over extending yourself like that!

I am new to crossbows, so this might be a dumb question: I have a 175 pound crossbow, which I can cock, but not easily. The rope cocking aid makes it really easy. The only problem is that the rope tends to slide out of the groove in the stock that is behind the rear sight and the trigger mechanism. So, I wondered if it might make sense to use an adhesive to more securely and permanently keep the rope in the groove. It looks to me like this will not in any way interfere with the function of the bow, but I thought I should post this question and hopefully get some expert answers. Of course, I would need to remove the two hooks that ride on the bow string before firing. But it seems like they could just hand off the rest of the crossbow without causi9ng any harm. Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated.
Maybe I am crazy or the cocking aid that came with our crossbow had been altered already. The store just put a whole bunch of stuff in a bag and handed it to us. The cocker has no more string to let out and is only about 2-3 feet long. I can't even get 1 hook to the string and around the spot where directions say to go around the butt at. Am i missing something?
Is it okay to store your bow with the rope cocking aid on (does this add to much stress on the bow limbs and string) and if yes is is it a legal way to store your bow when its left in its case? Thanks.
I’m no expert, but I read that it’s better to have it hooks below the string as more of the body of the hook that rides on the outside of barrel is in contact with it and there is less chance of it moving around. I don’t have a crossbow so I don’t know for sure
I got one of these but I find it to be a pain in the ass and unnecessary. I just put on a good pair of leather gloves and do it by hand. So much quicker. I realize not everyone has the strength to do that tho

But, never shows how to do it with a full video so you could see how he adjusted the top end "where his arms were ect.."...very bad instructional video, my god how hard is it to have full body video so we can see what your doing when adjusting top end!! Video Sucks

Does it matter which way you have the hooks facing before you pull the string back??
On most crossbows it does not. Some manufacturers do recommend one way over the other. But it should work either way.
