- When Jitendra Abhisheki as a composer, arrived on the scene, musical theatre was almost breathing its last. Abhisheki heralded a revival with his compositions for the stage, combining both tradition and modernity .
His debut-making play was 'Matsyagandha' staged in 1964. The song 'Deva- gharache jnat kunala' composed in Yaman, reminded one of the traditional 'Nath ha majha' ; but the 'sum' resting on teevra madhyam proved to be a pointer to his modernity.
१९८० साली बोळींज विरार पश्चिम येथे अभिषेकी बुवांना श्री.रमेश जोशी यांनी त्यांच्या घरी , गणपती उत्सवानिमीत्ताने , आयोजित केलेल्या खाजगी बैठकीत ऐकण्याची संधी मला मीळाली .मी स्वतःला भाग्यवान समजतो...तसेच १९७७ साली अर्नाळा येथे राममंदिराच्या सूवर्णवर्षानीमीत्ताने आयोजित केलेल्या पं.सूधिर फडके व पं . भिमसेन जोशींच्या मैफिलीचा आनंद घेता आला..
ती लोकं कीती नशीबवान ज्यांनी ह्या देवाला प्रत्यक्षात गाताना ऐकलं असेल..

My grandfather told me how he hard he toiled often sleeping empty stomach under chawls to earn this...His voice was very heavy not having firat totally unsuitable for classical , but he earned by sheer hardwork,grit determination and countless sacrifices.....
"कुणी रखडती धुळीस आणिक कोणास लाभे हेम", my most favorite line, It always reminds me about struggle of my Father and Mother, they struggled for themselves to stand on their own feet, but I as a next generation eating those sweet fruits of their hard work and perseverance, did education, doing job, all this chill life courtesy is only those 2 people

But I believe this is not the actual meaning of the phrase, looking in the context of the entire song or drama Sangeet Matysagandha.
The meaning here in my opinion is about the perspectives or approache we have about ourselves in our lives. So to give a context of today someone is earning crores but still not happy or satisfied but other person is happy earning a few thousands.
Perspective is the word for the entire पद्य!

I have attended many concerts by Panditji in Shivaji Mandir and Laxmi Krida Mandir in Pune,during 1965 to 1980.Panditji used to sing many such compositions of himself on demand from listeners.It was a golden period..to enjoy Pt.KumarGandharva, Pt.Bhimsenji,Smt.Manik Varma and others.
How unimaginably lucky of you Sir, to hear and watch such titans!

I accidentally came across this fantastic recording. But *I feel* that the recording has a flaw. The speed inadvertently changed when transferring from, I guess, a tape. If you decrease the speed by 10% you can hear a voice that is unmistakably Abhisheki buwa's wonderful voice. Thank you for sharing the priceless recording.

Mukta: I am listening to this song again today after some time. Pt. Abhisheki sang this song in Cleveland in 1983. The lady on taanpura is our own classical vocalist Neelam Gupte.This is the first time Vishwanath Kanhere, Mangesh Mulye and Sudhakar Deole made the trip with Panditji.

The original song is sung by Ramdas Kamat in the play- Matsygandha, but this recording here is of Pt. Abhisheki and I am 100% sure about it. I have checked with reliable sources, the tempo is fast and the pitch is a bit high than his other recordings (he used to sing at higher pitch earlier).... but he undoubtedly Pt. ji.
