I saw Mr Kosky's "La Boheme" in the Los Angeles Opera production. Frankly, this scene was terribly blocked from where I sat in the Loge with Musetta virtually hidden by all the actors and all the business going on around her in the overly cramped, overly-populated Cafe Momus, with the inadequate spotlight making the singer virtually indiscernible, and forget about figuring out who among the other cast members were contributing their lines and movements in the proceedings. Undoubtedly the worst Cafe Momus scene I've ever seen, and I must have witnessed a couple dozen. Pure anarchy. And I have so admired other Barrie Kosky productions.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. On a video through a camera, this seems to work rather well. Perhaps in a large Hall, the subtleties are lost. At least, Musetta's Aria is wonderfully performed here!
So lovely,so beautiful.
Love this Fabio de Mello.
thank you.....so much
