When I am blanking especially when targeting bigger fish blanking is more common I use this method to break the blank off and getting courage again to target big kob etc.
Try some white mussle, prawns and redbait on a 2/0 hook a good quality circle hook or J .In the reefs make fixed trace 50-60cm hook snoot and 20cm sinker snoot 0.55-0.60mm hook line 0.40-45mm for sinker. From the beach 70-90cm hook snoot with a 0.50-0.55mm hook snoot for movements.Thinner line for sinker line and longer sinker so you can clip your bait.Bait at the shop do not cut it for me and usually making the effort to obtain the bait in the area increases the chances alot.My favorite bait for scratching from the beach is moonshine and locally pumped pink prawn. With the pink prawn I use about 5 prawns normal sized ones cotton them on my hook with their heads hanging slightly down the hook for movement present them like any bait as natural as possible. With moonshine just thread them through can also combine with a few prawns.Do not be surprised when you hook a dream fish if you fish like this a mate of mine caught a 15kg monster of white steenbrass on a 1/0 circle with white mussle. I myself have landed a few decent fish as well fishing with this method.

Excellent advice my friend. Thanks for taking the time and effort to type such a comprehensive comment. Great stuff...amazing how some day fish prefer one bait then other days a different bait. Was using fresh worm and nothing. But white was busy.

Really only good when the tides pushing...also much better then to cast from the parking area in line with the benches. You lose a lot less sinkers this way :-)

I never catch anything there but my daughter loves swimming there with her friend... I know how suddenly the wind can come up and drop again there.. but probably the best public toilet in all of Gordons Bay. Usually only get those ones with the black dot on the tail and klipvisse there.

Yes...if peckers are in the water forcing you to change bait every 5mins, you gonna need an endless supply of sinkers.
