We recently reviewed the Hawke Frontier LRF 10x42 and 8x42 and really were impressed by the product. The 8x42 fit perfectly in the Sitka Gear Flash Optics Harness and the 10x42 fit well in the Marsupial enclosed bino chest pack. The weight was fine on both products. We did add a third party tripod adapter for extended glassing, which worked well. I have been a Hawke fan for several years now because of the clarity of the glass. I have never had an issue with a warranty return/replacement and their customer service is top notch. Great review!!
I actually have the Leupold that you shared. I’ve had it for a year or so with no problems. Living on the coast of Cape Cod, we do get the occasional dense fog, and it will struggle at times with ranging. Thanks for sharing your experience, be well my friends.
I got the Vortex a few years ago. Guy at Cabela's gave me a deal and I cannot remember why but they marked them down quite a bit. Just before last season they stopped ranging. Called Vortex, immediate service with return shipping label. Told them it was really bad timing as I needed a repair or replacement in a few days since I was leaving out of state for a hunt. Not kidding, they shipped me a new replacement the day they received mine. There's no way they even had time to check them out. I called them when I received the new bino/range finder and asked what the issue was with my original. Answer - "didn't work." That is by far the fastest I've ever seen any company honor their warranty. They will continue to get my business.
Hi Robbie an Adrian. Those are nice binos. Im still using 30+year old binos and a range finder. The range finder has that bow function which I feel should be on all rangefinders and binos. If I were to get new bino, it would have that function. To bad only Leopold has it and non of the others.
Thank you! It’s a super hard call. I really do like the arrangement of the Hawke focus and buttons a lot. I also like how compact the others are, though. I’m sure that still didn’t answer, but I go back and forth.
I've never understood why they go with 10x42, for us guys who actually hunt....those extra 5 or 10 minutes of useable light are vital. 10x50 or 8x42 is the way to go. They need to stop letting office secretaries design the optics

That’s fantastic to hear. Thank you for your story.
You definitely have my three favorite optics companies in there, Leupold Vortex and Burris👍👍
They don’t disappoint!

I feel like they all likely have that built in to the line of sight vs angular distance, but it’s just not called that.
I have the reguler Vortex furry 5000 there awesome, I don't know how I managed without these in the past.
I know!!!!
great detailed review, doing testing in fog and poor condition was great.
what were your favorites?

So many fun options - and these aren’t even all of them!

Interesting idea!
Hawke does make an 8x42 in these
I wish you at least told us your personal favourites at the end!
Well. Ya see. I still haven’t decided 😁
