I spent my whole life learning music by ear so it comes very naturally to me now haha, it’s all about having a deep understanding of the genres and their clichés so you can kinda predict what’s gonna happen. Example would be structure (intro > verse > pre chorus > chorus > etc.) or chord progression (“6 4 1 5” which Ghost uses in many songs like this one, Dance Macabre, Mary On A Cross, Spillways, Griftwood, etc.)
