I guess this “meaning” is the reason why they gave this "important and meaningful" award to a one hit wonder band instead of giving to the person, who's considered to be the biggest sensation of 03. The Grammys are suppose to be about cultural impact and Evanescence paved a way for modern rock to enter mainstream music for years.

I'm a big time 50 Cent fan mans work ethic, songs and personality to make him one of the best musical acts EVER. And if you were around at the time, you understood why people felt robbed he should have won the award and I wholeheartedly agree the award belonged to him. But to sit here and discredit evanescence and say they weren't in contention is blasphemy. Amy Lee is easily one of if not the best voice of the modern generation and as far as talent goes she's got more than 50. And their genre of music appealed to the gothic teen audience which was a heavy trend during that time so I can understand why they won. I like both alot but for some of yall to try and tear down Evanescence is mind blowing🤣

That said, I'm surprised Evanescence was even nominated to be best new artist. That genre of music is heavily underappreciated. It certainly was back then. I suppose Bring me to Life was really a major hit and resonated with a lot of people.

50 cent had the biggest song of 2003 and the biggest album of 2003. He had 2 #1 songs, and a few top 5 hits too in his first year as a major label artist. Since then he’s still made a bigger impact on the rap/music industry than evanescence have EVER had. Also in da club is on Rolling Stones top 500 greatest songs EVER list in 2021.
