Hand Feeding Worms To Largemouth Bass While Snorkeling In The Lake

  • A beautiful story about gaining the trust of largemouth bass, so that I could feed them worms by hand while snorkeling in the lake. It also talks about the interconnectedness of all creatures and the importance of treating fish with kindness and respect. The video also mentions the mutually beneficial relationship between people, animals, and the environment.
    As well as the importance of hunting and fishing to the conservation movement.

    I don't care what anybody says, bluegills (and similar panfish) are the ballsiest fish I've ever seen. They give 0 fucks and are not afraid of you in the slightest. I have a pumpkinseed (two, actually) in an aquarium and the very first time I fed him he ate from my hand. Then bit my finger. Now it's to the point where after I feed him he lets me pet him.

    Hello my friend. Let me first apologize for taking so long to see this. My days have been so filled with the legal matters of a death, that by the end of a day all I can do is sleep to renew myself for the next round government forms, death taxes, accountants, bankers, and notaries.
    This was hauntingly beautiful David, and exactly what I needed. I think your desire to form a deeper relationship with these fish is natural. You were patient with them, and your energy would be understood as pure of purpose. There is a world of difference between a human entering their world to feed and commune with them, and a worm on a hook dropping in from nowhere. I don’t believe you harmed them.
    They never see those who catch them, but you are familiar to them. You enter their waters many times, and do them no harm. Your love and reverence for them is apparent in the looseness of your body language, and you don’t offer your gifts and tease them by pulling it back, or try to touch their bodies. One day, they will swim past you and stroke your body with their sides, as a token of affection and thanks. You have renewed me for the day that lies ahead. Thank you so much.💖🖤🇨🇦

      With proper care, fish can be caught and released without harming them. A lot of it comes down to how you set the hook / or how the fish is hooked. I do understand where you're coming from though. I question it myself, but that just makes us good people. Barbless hooks might be an option.

    • @blikiso
      @blikiso 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I only use barbless hooks and they work good and not only dose it have the fish be happier but its also way easyer to unhook the fish

    If you ever see people who raise f1 type bass for stocking reason they hand feed them shad and other food and the bass know who they are and learn to move in on people feeding them in the grow ponds, the main stock bass are like wild pets who love the attention. Bass are a 100% underappreciated fish.

      I agree! Captive raised animals end up being like puppy dogs who beg for food. I've seen the same thing from captive bred pheasants, who have learned to trust humans. The pheasants are stocked for hunting, but they're so tame, it really takes the challenge out of the hunt.

    I go fishing on almost a daily basis. Unfortunately there is a big pop. Of bluegill. Usually I keep them. But the bass I almost always release. I watch some people throw them into the water and set the hook very hard. I don’t. I use circle hooks so it’s safer for the bass and easier for me. I also lay them in the water and kind move them through the water and they almost always give me a splash which tells me they will be fine. I hope someone people understand that fishing is not always brutal and when you do, be mindful of your surroundings and the fish themself as if you hurt or kill all the fish, you won’t have any more fishing to do

    I love to see this as a fisherman. I bass fish sometimes but not a ton. what I hate to see are the "bass fisherman" who set the hook like they are swinging a baseball bat, rip a massive hole in the fishes mouth, drag it through the dirt, and make it do a backflip as they throw it back in the water. they then proceed to call anyone who eats bass a monster and a terrible person. thank you for respecting the fish. thats all I care about as an angler. if you dont eat it, you should be careful with it.

    I find it interesting that there is usually a subconscious divide drawn between humans and nature because of the ridiculous amount of impact humans can have on nature (usually not positive). And because humans have this overwhelming power to change their environment, we have interpreted that power as responsibility… it’s almost like we think we are entitled or supposed to be the stewards of the planet. But we’re still just animals, so we ARE nature. Simply taking care with nature, like you have done with these bass, is taking care with ourselves… so it’s not like we’re a separate entity that’s responsible for everything. We might act like we are high and mighty and different, but the reality is that we are a natural part of this earth’s life too… 🤔

    • @TheDave333
      @TheDave333  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for watching the video and taking the time to leave a comment. I agree with what you're saying 100%
      I feel zero responsibility for taking care of the natural world. . . It doesn't need us, nature takes care of itself.
      The forests and the lakes don't need managing, and we're not here as stewards of the planet. . .
      It's people that need managing, because we're not a part of the natural world anymore, we're arrogant, we're selfish, and we're short-sighted.
      The earth is our life support system and it's in our best interests to be sure that our actions are not harming the ability of the planet to sustain itself. And that is where we bear some responsibility. 🐠🦈🐟 🌻🐝🌴
