There's a young girl I babysit a lot, and she has really bad anxiety.
Like, she's not even 8 yet and she has a therapist.
It's always a struggle to get her to fall asleep without her parents, and I've been sitting here on her bedroom floor, waiting for her to fall asleep with Cavetown songs playing for the past half hour, and I've tried all sorts of other music before, but I think this is one of the fastest times she's ever fallen asleep.
I have Post-Trauma induced anxiety and I do the same.

Was just drawing while listening to music yesterday. Decided to play some Cavetown - I hadn't listened to his music in about 2 1/2 years. After a few songs this one came on and I stopped drawing and burst into tears. I've been feeling useless and annoying and like I don't deserve any love, this is reinforced by people reacting strongly in the opposite direction by saying all sorts of fluffy things. A few years ago I had a lot of anxiety and depression, and it's been coming back. When I was younger I always hated getting compliments because they felt so wrong and fake, which is why I hate fluff. I'm so grateful for this song Robbie. Thank you.

She would be the only one to help me when I was feeling down, she was an amazing person and we can all learn a bit from her, but now she's gone. Both me and my best friend have depression and recurrent suicidal thoughts, but at least we are going through it together. It's relieving to know there's someone I can share everything with who understands me in every way possible, it makes me feel relatively safe and way less crazy, even when trying to be positive or more patient with myself doesn't work. This song reminds me so much of him since it's not always easy to bring me to talk about stuff, so he always tries to make me share my own troubles, and I can't help but smile a bit. I just hope I can be a good friend for him too, and I just hope we can learn happiness again as we stick together

my mother puts so much pressure on grades, and though i'm only 13 she's already looking at highschool and college scholarships, college courses, all these extracurriculars. She says i have to be pretty bc people are nice to pretty people. she thinks getting waxed is just basic hygiene. but she doesn't care about me myself. I always felt the need to be perfect, or at the least a prodigy in whatever i did. when i first heard this song i didnt listen to the lyrics. the second time i found myself bawling my eyes out on my bedroom floor.

My dad is or "was" a drug addict all my life, he fourced my mom into it, so my life has been pretty shit. He mentally abused us, yelling at us, telling us he hated us. He did hit my mom a few times, one of thoes times he used steel toed boots and hit her over the back of her head while she was turned around. They where always fighting, yelling. Because of his addiction and the fighting we had to move very often. Shelters, motels, hotels, tents, our car, all places we stayed. (One of the shelters gave me mersa) its also kinda funny how my grandmother, someone he hurt and abused aswell chose him over us. but all of this, all the hurt he's put us through is somewhat over. I say somewhat because i now have servere depression, anxiety, and slight paranoia, i used to be scared of grown men because of him. We went to an abused womens shelter and they helped us, my mom quit all the drugs, and even smoking, now we have a home, something i never thought we could have. So if your life is shit, it will get better, 14 years of my life i consider waisted because of him, but im 16 (17 in november!!) now, and life has never been better.

Robin's songs have always made me feel safe whenever I listen to his songs. The moment I heard his songs, I immediately fell in love with his songs.
I showed this song to one of my friends because I knew she was depressed. She was the first friend I'd ever had and all I wanted to do was help her get through it so I could see her smile again. Not too long later she started going out with my toxic, abusive ex, and I tried to warn her, but she wouldnt listen. Over time, she got more and more hostile towards me, but I still wanted to be around her. Seeing her happy was all I wanted, even if it came at my expense. It's been a year and we arent friends anymore; I realised friends wouldn't treat me the way she did. It's still hard to listen to cavetown sometimes, but I'm trying my best to reclaim one of my favorite artists. ❤

i don’t know whether to keep going, i just know i keep waking up.
I'm often told I am one of the most supportive people in the world but honestly I feel like I'm just a let down. Whenever I feel down and I try to reach out to others I often feel ignored or like everyone just kinda disappears. I don't know what to do. Sometimes I don't know if my smile is real or if I actually am happy.
edit: I'm doing a lot better right now. I discovered more about myself and my identity. I still have a way to go in some areas but I'm happier than ever
edit 2: depressed over a different matter in the past year I discovered I'm aroace lesbian but one of my closest friends is homophobic and now I'm lost again and wanna **** I'm not gonna edit this again prob but know I'm trying (oct 24th)

edit 4: it's been a while (over a year I think??) since last edited. I have graduated high school. it's been ok-ish, I have been self-harm free for a year and a half. My sister constantly has an annoyed tone whenever she talks to me but a soft tone talking to my other older sister.
