How do you sign up with Alipay and Wechat Pay in China. I thought that you needed China Bank Account. They wouldn't allow me to open an account in China as I wasn't a resident, student or work in China. I would prefer to use Wechat but what advise can you give to me in being able to subscribe to either Alipay or Wechat pay. Would like to know as I am going back this Oct/ November. Last year Not many would accept my Visa. Weichat/Alipay or cash only
Hi Stephen, you are correct that you need a bank account. This is a complex issue these days with regulations ever changing. There is no clear rule to signing up with a bank. Some accept, some don't. It really is down to luck, you could visit the same bank but different branch and see different results. We advise you persist and try a few different ones, see what happens. You are correct though, you need a bank account to use these features. Which banks have you tried so far?
@@stevemillarband1 Again, it will vary. Sometimes BoC will accept, other times not. It's really a tricky one to answer and we are sorry we cannot give a definitive list. If we could we would but changing regulations are so common you'll be in luck one day and out of luck the next. Worth trying CCB (China Construction Bank), ICBC and Mingsheng Bank

HSBC and Bank of China, both in Shanghai . So who are you with. ?
