My sweet husband has been dealing with Alzheimer's for over nine years. The early years were somewhat alright, but sadly, almost three years ago, I had to move him into a Memory Care facility. He is the love of my life. The facility is only ten minutes away, but it might as well be ten million miles away. Although I'm with him daily, it is not the same.😢 God Bless all those going through this beast of a disease and to the heart broken family members going through this journey with them.
I understand the horrors of dementia. My mother was lost in a the haze of it. Many people cannot understand what it is like to see the one they love fade away.
Beautiful room! Welcome back. I love you in your natural state - as it is your intelligence and witty repartee' which draws me in. All the best -- from Georgia, USA.
Oh, River! I feel and share your pain! My father-in-law lived to almost 98; and, in the last year of his life, we lost him completely to dementia and his rapidly deteriorating brain. This was almost 25 years ago and it's still very painful. Even your lightly touching on it in your video brought tears of empathy and memory to my eyes. Bottom line: Do what you need to do, how and when you need to do it. We all love you no matter what. Hugs from the middle of the US.
This is EXACTLY what I would think your home would look Luke! Gorgeous, classic, elegant-thats our River!! I LOVE IT and love seeing you on my telly!!!
Hi River, Good evening. It's lovely to see you. The room is beautiful. I agree about the pain and stresst moving house as I have just done the same thing on my own after 46 years. I hope you will be very happy and look forward to your next broadcast and update on your lovely home.
So very sorry to hear about your aunt. We just lost my mother to Alzheimer's and it is a horrendous way to go, both for the person and the family. My mother was terrified when she first got the diagnosis because she had watched her mother go through the same thing. My heart goes out to you.
So sorry to hear about your Great Aunt, River - dementia can be a dreadful disease, both practically and emotionally. My heart goes out to you and your family - but you’ve done everything to show your love and care. I understand the issues, having been through them myself - blessed be x
You say the move was stressful River, so I am pleased to hear that you absolutely love your new home. Congrats - love to hear good things happening to good people.
Such a sensitive and heart pounding description of your great aunt's journey. Aren't the emotions just all over the place! Bless all of you throughout it all. Very happy you have returned enjoying new environs.
Welcome back River! ❤ As someone who has been watching your broadcasts since you used to use green screens of stately rooms for the background of your videos, I am so looking forward to this new iteration of the River Show. I am already loving the new surrounds...is that a cherub stitched into your sofa?? 😊 It's simply beautiful. I'm so sorry to hear about the declining health of your great aunt. Dementia is a horrific disease which is why it's so wonderful that we have lovely people like YOU to take our minds off a lot of the ugliness in the world with some levity, hilarity and sparkle. You are a rare jewel my lovely and I cannot wait for your next broadcast. ❤❤❤
A change is as good as a holiday and a journey starts with 1 step. River, whatever you do it is going to be beautiful and I cannot wait to see how things progress ❤ Taking care of a person with dementia is not for the faint of heart. I took care of a 93 year old for 7 months. I adored her and loved her stories of her childhood and her life journey while she remembered them. Things started to become really heartbreaking when her habits took some major changes. One never knew what one would find and some days it was not pleasant. Sadly she ended up with pneumonia and was admitted to hospital last August and that is where she sadly passed away and would be with her beloved husband, parents and siblings once more. It is a time in my life that I felt truly honoured to be there for Tante Lenchen and get to know her.
It’s wonderful to see you again River, I’ve missed you! I love the new room and the sound is perfect. It’s beautiful, homey, comfortable and authentic, not slick, overdone or fake. The deep love and concern you feel for your dear great aunt is palpable and touching. It’s such a difficult situation for families to endure, I will keep her and your family in my prayers. 🙏🏼 Looking forward to receiving my keepsake, I did hear back the other day, thank you! Toodle pip! ❤
You have always been lovely to letting your followers there are times you will & will not post, which is very kind of you. Your setting is lovely, but just a background of you, and we watch for you (I love trees though). Thank you very much for sharing ~
It is a real pleasure seeing you again River, no matter the venue, you have always appeared real. Loving the sound of your home, your articulate discussion and your sense of fun. Many thanks
Hello River, it's lovely to see you again. You have been missed very much so it's really good to see you. I don't care where you live, what you wear, or how you come to us. I am just here to listen to what you have to say, your humour, your honesty and your kindness. It matters not, what matters is that you're back and are happy and well, and it's so nice to have our friend River a man we love and admire. 💕🤗😘
River, you are so full of love and kindness and generally a person who really cares for your fans. You bring calmness to me when you speak. I'm a nervous person, and you just make everything seem alright. I was impressed with the fact that you painted your blue room. I also in my day did the painting in my parents house. It's hard work and you did a great job. Keep being the kind person you are.
Dear River, we cared for my Mom with dementia, as well as utilized a facility where she attended, “classes” and activities, and had a measure of independence. Our children helped us, to the extent they were able. It is a wonderful and sometimes difficult experience, and, each family does the best they can. There are cherished moments, and, moments one is tearing out one’s hair out. It sounds like your Auntie progressed further than my Mama. Praying for your family as you navigate this difficult journey. With your obviously beautiful hearts, you will do very well, and, so will Auntie. Blessings on all of you. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️
Not gonna lie, I was going into "River withdrawal" so I'm so glad yoir back. Thank you for being gracious enough to invite us in a little deeper. Praying for you, and hope you settle in well ❤ Love and light from FL, USA 🇺🇸
I would like to thank you for the way in which you describe the seasons effects on women. I'm a few weeks shy of 44. The age to be too old to be young, to young to be old. The way in which you have described aging as seasons & the beauty in them I have truly embraced. When I look in the mirror I'm sometimes saddened that summer is gone & think, "who is woman? I'm still a girl!". I try & think of myself as autumn which has always been my favorite time of year! Born & raised surrounded by the Ozarks in Arkansas... the beauty this area provides especially in autumn brings me joy. As an autumn embodied, I hope to bring joy to others & that alone is beautiful. I am beautiful. Thank you River!!!
Sometimes Rivers meander and diversions happen, which it sounds like you've encountered along the way for the last few months and you've just had to go with the flow and let things take their course. You have been much missed by the fruits and it is good to see you once again. Lovely to have you back and am excited to see what your future broadcasts hold. Wishing you the very best. x
I’m sad to hear the purple chair will no longer be in the future broadcasts. 😢 But I am so glad that you are back and that you love your new place 😊 looking forward to your broadcasts to come and I love the new place!

So overjoyed to see you! Lovely you are sharing for your casual check in. Also, tee hee, hoping to receive our ordered keepsake. Wishes can come true. Love ❤️
Babe take your time. Getting a room redone to a high standard is a huge project. Its not just the cost and the resources but the planning and the logistics. Its hard work and not cheap if its done properly but it's so worth it.
I live in New Zealand, and used to buy the magazine BBC Homes and Antiques, because I love the interiors - the gorgeous antiques, the clever decoration. These interiors were usually done by the owners themselves. And what's more, these are the magazines that I never declutter, as the interiors don't date.
Darlin’ River, I am thrilled to see you again! 🤗🤗🤗. I didn’t, of course, know what was going on in your life, but I have sure missed you. All dolled up, casual, or Halloween costume….doesn’t matter to me. It’s YOU I care about seeing. Congratulations on your new dream home. I’m so happy for you. This is wonderful news and I’m very happy for you. I’m looking forward to whatever you decide to do and share we us. Many hugs & 😘😘😘
