I'm gunna pin this so others can share their thoughts. I really do like this idea lol. This locks every single gameplay aspect behind a paywall. The grind would be pretty immense but it does make the challenge as a whole more compelling. I'll likely stay the course and see through the current ruleset, but this is a great change. Edit: I thought on this more. It's probably possible to continue the current run we are on, implement no more skills gains unless paid for, and lower the price of lootboxes a bit to balance things out. I'd be stuck between choosing only training or only lootboxes if everything else stayed constant. I'll keep thinking on this though
You'll probably need a mod to deal with the number of skill tutors you can use per-level, because i believe it would softlock at somepoint without one. But i've been playing more Morrowind than skyrim lately, so i really can't remember how the skill tutors specifically work in Skyrim...@@DietJoov
Manual labour: sell firewood to Hulda. You now work at the inn. Room at the inn is free forever. So is the food. Pick and sell anything for Katla and she lets you use her horses because you work for her farm. Free food inside as well. Fight the guy at Riften Stables: free horses and food. Passive Income: get married. 100 gold/day and a free homecooked meal.
Honestly, Joov had the right idea near the start. Graverobbing Draugr tombs is like mining for gold; the draugr, including the static container draugr, all cary around 5-15 gold, and there are a lot of them. After that, temple of Meridia is your go-to. 25-125 gold per desecrated corpse and there are dozens just lying around. You can walk away with around 2000 gold after 1 dungeon crawl. Very lucrative.
I got the twitch notification for this and was sad I missed it lol thank you for all the content though dude, it's been great. Last year has been really awful for me and I lost a lot of hobbies, but I found your main channel randomly through recommendations and you got me back into TES and Fallout. I forgot just how much I truly loved TES and I've missed it. So thank you! I'm excited to see more of the crazy challenges you come up with
That's originally how I started making primarily Bethesda content. I got to sort of re-fall-in-love with these games as I hadn't played them in a long while.
This kind of challenges would benefit from the mod Missives. Random quest generation, with some quests being "honest work" like bringing a letter to another town/city/village (but can't use carriages for those quests, because fast travel is for chums.) Also SAAL, which gives you points to health, stamina and/or magic depending on what you did to level up. Also also, Trade & Barter or some other, lesser economy mod, so the 300 gold the lootboxes cost are a lot harder to get from selling to vendors, and buying items from vendors can be basically an endgame goal. T&B can go up to insane levels. I remember its maximum settings being like "sell me that perfect gem for five gold, I'll sell you iron arrows at fifty gold a piece. Want an iron armor? Your life is worth less than iron armor, you hobo." 2:24:00 Yeah, the "Frenzy" line of spells is all about sitting back and letting NPCs kill each other. One of my favorite spells to have as backup. Run out of arrows? Let the bandits be your arrow. The winner gets a stab through the face as a reward. 2:35:00 That spider is like the Deathclaw in Concord in FO4. Extremely nerfed so new players can feel awesome about being able to kill a "tough" mob, and experienced players can use the scenery and a pipe pistol to save all the 5mm ammo for selling.
No joke, I lost a warehouse job because I had to use the bathroom more than once a shift. turned out I had food poisoning due to tainted peanut butter that ended up getting recalled nation wide a few years ago... I wasn't mad because I hated the job lol
I'm actually so upset I missed this, I absolutely love the Sigma Grindset Alpha Male Podcast bit he's doing for this challenge-- also, Ben definitely didn't get that scar from a fight, let's be honest
3:00:30 And that's why the keys only cost 300 gold. The mod's author wasn't evil enough to go full "Bleed Your Customers Dry" mode. Also if you want further screwage, buy lootboxes from merchants, or do grab the ones enemies carry. The key-fueled chest gives you at least one "rare" item (the boots in this case) but any other lootbox can just be full of iron daggers. Golden Keys also have a small chance to give you some gold back (most I saw was 100, but along with an ebony mace...) so the non-key lootboxes are the true "please steal my money" option.
Love your content, You popped up in my recommended and now your one of my favorite youtubers im subbed to both channels and I catch your twitch streams when i can. 👍
You don't need to push the npc's in dargonsreach progress the quests, you can just talk to bulgruf and he will give you the rewards, and you don't need to wait for irileth to get to the guard tower, you can just walk up to the tower untill the guard comes out to progress that part quicker. Just for future reference.
it seems like a lot of people here found your channel through recommend. im no exception and found an oblivion video of yours on Jan 1 recovering, after partying too hard the night before lmao i just remember having a splitting headache and laughing my ass off which didn't help the handover lol thank you so much for the endless entertainment i love having your vods on in the background as i fall asleep. big fan!! ❤
2:34:06 Illusion sucks at low levels. It doesn't work on a lot of things due to level caps, and it is only single target. Fury's only really good for assassinations. Illusion gets pretty fun at high levels, especially in the big civil war battles, but is still pretty limited, you still need a way to deal damage Edit: And it doesn't work on undead, which are the main enemy type you face in a lot of early quests
I think it would be a nice idea to add a rule where every house you build you also should pay for a mercenary to be its housecarl, and maybe the improvements you could buy from whoever you chose as your housecarl gives some kind of reward to you as well, like points or lootboxes or even something special since many of the orders can actually go over 1000 gold. I dunno, that just came into my mind, hope this interests you.
3:15:40 But do you know about the chest _outside_ the Bleak Falls dungeon? I have never seen any YTer loot that one, and I rarely see it mentioned anywhere. It's like people is allergic to searching for 'secrets.' 3:17:40 Chat schooling a schooler, never gets old. ;)
btw i think its because Nelkir has a part in the scene that plays at the start of the dragons rising quest. He probably runs off somewhere and because he was gone it was like 'uhhh well we cant proceed til hes here to screw off.'
Nelkir is essential because of the Whispering Door quest, same reason for Farengar being Essential until after dragon rising is because of the Whispering Door quest, doesn't make them any less annoying, but it's crazy that nelkir breaks that quest
oh, and with saadia's quest, you can collect money from both if you bring her out to him and then kill him she will give you money too, money hacks lol
I am barely 15 minutes in but small idea, maybe drop a percentage of gold on death rather than a flat amount? Maybe even 10%? I think it would lead to more hectic situations. Edit: I was bested! Youre a step ahead
10% feels fair right now. It's punishing with small amounts of gold because it essentially blocks me from carriages, hotels, food etc. Later on it will be even more punishing as it slows me down from a home purchase, a horse etc.
@@DietJoov yeah definitely agreed! Seems to be the ideal amount of challenge + fairness I’m glad you swapped to 10% before the first run! I feel like only 100 gold would have eventually been not enough of a hit late game
There is a way to skip dialogue faster. Disable Proventus and Irileth, then enable them right before talking to Farengar (must do this or the next quest won't trigger). Then Balgruuf will have a one-sided conversation with Numinex's skull.
for the death tax couldn't you use shadow of skyrim mod to set that up automatically. pretty sure you can set what you drop including a % gold (might need to check that though)
Catching this 5 months later. But next time you need a loophole that the gold you were automatically given at the beginning can pay for the spells you cannot remove
Y'know...I'd love to see this lootbox challenge run on Fallout with lunchboxes. Bit less freedom, though perhaps modifying the rules to include found lunchboxes may help even the odds. Seems like it could work on paper.
I believe that the reasons the quest Dragon Rising was bugging due to a lack of Nelchir is because he is spouse to either eavesdrop on the meeting, or be told to leave as the adults are talking, and as that part was undoable, the game would not trigger the quest. I can't be cirtain, because I'm not gonna fire up skyrim just to test that though.
someone in chat at one point said it wasn't, but this mod is actually on xbox and it works p well 👀 this is one of those challenes that look really fun to try at home
Ireleth has to go to Whiterun main gate guard barracks to send guards to Riverwood. If you hand off the dragonstone too fast you can softlock the quest until she returns.
The reason the enemies you cast with frenzy they still hear you castin the spells and they still search for you cause of it but after the cancel their search for you they will fight each other if you had quite castin they wouldn't hear you cast the spell and then they would fight each other instead of searchin for where the spell came from
Joov next time you go through bleak falls again and reach the boss dont go for the shout first go for the chests obviously go for the big chest infront of the wordwall and dont forget the hidden loot chest behind the word wall somewhere its behind hidin in a hole in between like 3 rocks
You miss alot of loot at bleekfalls burrow. #1 outside at the entrance fallow around and you find an adept lootbox usually having a gem, #2 before the spider you find a dead skeleton and a bunch of spider web inside the spiderweb is a chest, #3 when you get to the drauger loot the dead drauger laying in the alcoves, 4# behind the word wall is one, #5 behind the litte waterfall at the stairs in the word wall room is one chest.
I'm so glad to be a VOD viewer... simply because I would ruin myself with gifting subs to hear "I'm a God, how can you kill a God?" if I watched on Twitch
Today I learned you don't automatically succeed the Riften Guard Shakedown dialogue. I have never failed it nor seen it fail and assumed it was just free.
illusion magic is annoying af except for calm spells. fury doesn't stop enemies from aggroing on you, and fear makes them run 5000 miles away and chasing them down is annoying af, but calm is great bc they just stand in place and you can get behind them and do a sneak attack or pickpocket. i think illusion would be a fun and viable play style, esp just to have the variety, but calm spells are supreme
If people want to try a run like this look into every dead thing you find or kill. A lot of times gold and jewels are on things they should not be, including skeevers and wolves.
I'm so mad about it. We ended up finally getting a healing spell in the next stream and it made life way easier. Easily could've 10x'd progress with a healing spell :/
