Nice to see an bullet journal instead of a scrap book. Too many videos have those extremely elaborated journals that I doubt actually work. Yours is very nice. Also, I think a binder offers more flexibility than a regular notebook because you can keep collections or projects together and add pages if needed, with a notebook your notes for the same topic will be on pages apart and you have to keep track of them using an index.

I think your comment is a little unfair. The whole point of bullet journaling is finding a system that works for you. If some people like to make their journals beautiful and use it as a creative outlet, then that’s up to them.
The attitude of “my bujo is better than yours because .....” within this community is horrible and incredibly toxic.

Thank you, THANK YOU for doing a planner/Bullet Journal without a bunch of stickers, washi tape, etc, etc, etc. I need something that I can use for my small business and day to day life and I dont want to spend/waste time doing cutsey pages that are so completly distracting.

More on this system! I love how efficient it is. Could you please make a video on how you use this in conjunction with online planners? Or, if you don't use online planners anymore, could you give reasons why it didn't work out? Great video xx

I've been looking for a more hybrid system, myself, but the Filofax is quite expensive compared to my current system.
The Clever Fox planner website allows you to print out some of their pages so you can give it a try & I pasted some into my bullet journal (December is busy & I'm feeling a little lazy).
I LOVE the layout of the right-hand page in the weekly layout, but I hate the actual layout of the daily schedule - - I prefer a vertical style. So... I might continue to print out the page with weekly priorities, personal to-do list, mini habit tracker, etc. & daily bullet journal on the right side. I like having those festures, but... It is a little time consuming. I'd like to explore more templates, or design/print my own!
Planning is often a work in progress!! But I'm of the philosophy that if it helps you manage your life efficiently, any system is good. If artsy stuff helps someone, that isn't my place to judge.

Just stumbled across this from a year ago, and it's perfect, absolutely perfect.

Your hybrid seems like the very best of choices. I tend to make a lot of “collections” and the thought of reproducing them in each new bullet journal was a turn-off. The ability to move pages easily is my main reason for using a ring-based planner. Thanks for your video!

  • @Angela-uq1cs

Great setup. Thanks for sharing! I do a hybrid Mini Happy Planner system. I use the month/week layouts from the happy planner and then I added a GTD context list section for all my todos and then I have a bunch of notes paper for whatever I need to write down. I also have a customized finance section and personal trackers. I've used a ring system before and they're just too big to take with me everywhere. So I switched to a discbound 8x5" notebook but that was still too bulky and I found I would leave it because I didn't feel like carrying it. So when I found the Mini Happy planner it was perfect! I have never been able to just use one pre-set planner system. I've always mixed and matched with different systems and custom inserts.

Nice video. My hybrid system is: 1) a '2109 Seasons' wire-bound A5 planner with 2) an Essentials (by Peter Pauper Press) A5 journal for my Collections and3) an A5 STM journal (original icon version) for Goals and Project Planning. I also use a DIY faux-Filofax in my home gym with a homemade printable log to track my fitness activities and guitar practice. I give myself a 'gold star' for every 15 minutes that I do my exercises or practice.

i am not organized in my time, but i should be because i have many thing to do, i have tried bullet journalingfor a couple of time but its just not for me and because in TH-cam you see this highly decorated one i just didnt like by bullet journaling, and they took to much of my time to draw out, and because i am a perfectionist it just bothered me not having that perfect lay out or spacers because i felt like a needed to use one page at a time..... me just ranting, but ones i found this ring planers i method i fell in love and i am so exited on purchasing one and starting planning and keeping track of my life, even tho i am only 16, but i know i need to be more organized to be able to use my time as God wants me too, and be more productive, to be able to become my better self. i like your bullet journal method , and is something i want to try out. i am subscribing!

I too have come to realise I love bullet journalling, but I dislike having to draw out spreads, and I want to organise and keep some collections permanently, and not leave them behind when I move onto a new volume. Also I like the freedom of being able rip out a page. I'll get my A5 filofax next week, and a decent hole punch so that I can incorporate spreads that I print.

For habit tracking, you might try the Daylio app. It is advertised as a mood tracker but it has so much customization that it might work for you. You might not find an icon that matches the activity you want to track, but there are enough icons that you can assign something. I like it better than Goal Tracker or Simple Habit because you can backfill an activity in Daylio. You also get a weekly report and a search function.

I used to (about 10 years or so ago) use Franklin Covey and their A5 planner, but didn't like how confining the pre-printed layouts were. I never thought about just using my FC book to create my own layouts back then, and just went back to keeping lists in spiral notebooks (old-school bullet journaling). Spiral notebooks aren't too portable, so I switched to bound books and started adopting bullet journal tips for a combination art journal/planner/analog list. My only problem... I'm too chaotic, and want to change all the pages. After redrawing spreads a number of times, I gave up and just recently repurchased an A5 6-ring binder specifically so I can have the best of all worlds. It's so weird how things come full-circle! I like this tips here, thanks!

Hiiiii Mariana, Your planner/bullet journal hybrid is very similar to the Franklin Covey Day Planner system I've been using since 1993. Hyrum Smith and his wife invented the Franklin Planner about 40 years ago and he said it's based off Benjamin Franklin's planning system. It comes in four sizes and it does everything you're doing with your hybrid, just everything is nice and neat in preprinted pages. It comes in daily and weekly formats so you won't have a problem journalizing in whatever format you choose. They have a couple books that explain how to effectively use the planner to its fullest potential and it's absolutely mind-blowing how simple the concept and process is. They offer several modules to customize the planner including similar financial pages, foldout calendars, in addition to the standard contacts, values, goals, 4-year planning calendars, and other tabbed modules that's included with the basic planer.
Nothing wrong with your system, just suggesting an idea to look at for possible incorporation since planning and organizing is an everchanging process. Personally, I've been using a bullet/longform process since 1985, it all depends on how much I have to write. If I need details then longform, if I only a few words then bullets. I also never got into decorations especially since my artistic skills never developed much past stick figures. I do use symbology and I noticed Ryder uses an X for completed tasks instead of a checkmark, to me an X means the task was deleted and the checkmark means it was completed. I use forward and reverse arrows also when moving a task back a day or more with the forward arrow and when completing a task early I'll use the reverse arrow and annotate the date it was completed next to it. When delegating tasks I will use a "D" and write the person's name next to it.
Hyrum Smith mentioned in one of his time management seminars of one of his first customers. A gentleman called him up about the seminar and Hyrum noted the day, time, duration of call, and what the call was about. He noted in his planner the details of the call with the gentleman including his name and future meeting in six months on a certain day and time. Six months later, the night before the meeting with the gentleman he was going through his daily planning process of recording/reviewing the day's activities and preparing for the next day which included the meeting with the gentleman from six months ago so he easily pulled the information from his storage binder since it was indexed in his planner where it was and prepared for the meeting. The next day during the meeting he was able to easily talk to the gentleman about the phone call, time of call, duration of call, and details simply by effectively using his day planner. The gentleman was overwhelmed because all he had to work with was a yellow legal pad which he'd been using for years at his company. He was immediately sold on Hyrum Smith's time management technique and scheduled seminars for all his employees. Also, I hadn't thought of this story in about 30 years but it was so vivid in my memory the way Hyrum explained it and his technique I was able to remember all this without a problem but I still have problems remember birthdays and such without reminders.
As for Filofax, I've never heard of it outside an old movie from the 1990 movie "Taking Care of Business" where its a prop used by a advertising executive and his assistant just let him know she updated all his pages for the day including a key to his Malibu beach house. I thought the company went out of business like so many others in the 1990s but apparently they're still hanging in there after 99 years.

Hi thank you for your in lightings videos
I'm thinking about taking the bullet Jurnal path but would love to hear your takeoff on how it is interwoven with all your other systems ie the digitals way.
Is tracking everything digital and manual is not double the workflow and that making it not so efficient?
love to hear how the bullet system is integrated into the whole scheme of thing for you:)

Does someone know about a premade system like this I can buy and use in GoodNotes on my iPad with my apple pencil? I'm too lazy to make it myself, and my skills aren't that good.
I don't work so well with physical notebooks, planners and so on. Haha. For some reason I don't use them, even though I love them!

Amber Write a less expensive version by DayRunner can be found at Staples, around $35 for A5 size. Another option is to buy a “mini binder” for paper and dividers that are 5.5” x 8.5” and customize your own set-up. I use Franklin Planner’s pages in a mini-binder I bought at Staples and it works great for me. Best wishes in your planner journey.

I bought myself a notebook so I can start bullet journaling but I don't know how to start with it... :( I actually turned it into a to-do list but I still feel disorganized, I barely get to accomplish all my tasks for the week, do you have any recommendations on how to start bullet journaling or what to read to have an idea? :( (i looked for the book you read about bujo but I just couldn't find it)

    • @cimy1261
      @cimy1261 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Watch the original video about bullet journal by Ryder, and just follow those basic steps.
For a month, follow the basic ideia and see how it goes, or even just a week. When that time is up, take a bit of time to review how things went, and if anything didnt go to weel than do research on that specific item.
Reading the book: The bullet journal method, gives you a really good mindset to tackle bullet journaling. But it is not necessary if you cant find it.
Dont get stuck on doing to much research on the bullet journal, cause you will probably end up wasting a lot of time and not trying it yourself.
To start, just reserve like 4 pages for an index, and then on the next blank spread (2 empty pages) right a future log, its basically a place were you can write down any events that will happend in the future.
And then on the next blank spread, write the month and set up a list of the days like Ryder shows in his video, and a list of tasks for that month, i also write down a list of goals.
Each day write down the date, and then write whatever comes to mind that needs to be done or that you dont want to forget.
And the end of the day review what you did and what you wanted to remember.
If there is anything big, like one of tasks is very complex, or something you dont want to forget involves a lot of things; create a collection, open the next blank spread, write a title and just write what you need.
Use the index so you dont forget were this is, and also you shouls number the pages as you go.
Im sorry if this is overwhelming. I just started writing and couldn't stop.
My biggest biggest advice is to keep things simple and practicle by following what Ryder explains in his video.
Hope I was of some help

Sofía the most important fact is to keep it simple to Ryder's videos and try it out. Don't look at other people's journals and how beautiful and artistic it looks or you will get dejected and stop using your bullet journal
