Saw them over a decade ago when I was in college. Me and some friends jumped in the car, drove 4 hours popped a bunch of acid and watched the show. Blue Scholars opened up for Atmosphere is I remember right and Blue Scholars stole the show for me. Hearing this song was unreal and I'll never forget it.
when you get past the auto-tune perversion of the sample, you can hear the three elements of love: patience, understanding, loyalty from That's What Love is Made Of. learn it, young peeps.
I ain't gonna lie, when I was at San Pasqual Academy I was in a music elective, and I had won a prize and they asked me what I wanted, anything apparently, I asked for the Bayani album by Blue Scholars. I bumped that mug till the cd had maddddd scratches.
This will always be one of my most favorite songs of all time. It has EVERYTHING you could possibly need in rap. Great beat, great words, it makes an actual point, it sounds beautiful, the rapping is good, and most importantly: IT MAKES YOU FEEL.
2015 was a beautiful year for Hip Hop. Still bumping this in 2021, & came across this joint back in 2008 .. MySpace days. Time sure does fly by. Enjoy every single moment. Cause nothing last forever.
This and mainstream "hip hop" are two incomparable genres, and this is the one that without question deserves to be referred to as REAL hip hop. thumbs up if you agree with me
I remember, going to the Blue Scholars concert. Just being there, you felt the vibe up your spine and gives you chills. Even LISTENING to songs they write, gives you chills. Their lyrics are true. This is REAL music. This is what it is. Nothing can beat this. HIP HOP LEGENDS!
2-0-Sickness for life, baby. Blue scholars are amongst the most talented Rap group to ever emerge. And they are from right here, baby. Seattle, Washington.
Blue Scholars and Doomtree will always be my favorites. The Northwest fills the lungs and heals the pain in my chest The Midwest fills my mind and puts my soul at rest
I remember standing in the cold outside suzzalo library on uw campus so I could be In this music video. Worth it! And this sounds like a sped up All That You Are by Foreign Exchange. Which came first??
So it all originally came from The Sylvers - That’s What Love is Made of.....Then came Foreign Exchange...then Drake rapped over it and Blue Scholars flipped it and made it their own
I just saw blue scholars for the third time at the gorge for the rock the bells show. One of the best perfomances of the whole day. They rock the show everytime i see them. NorthWest stand up!
My young children, simmer down. There is but one of me and many of you who showed up for class today so allow me due time to address each one of your grievances. I feel privileged to be the source of inspiration for such lively dialogue. You have all provided me with much entertainment and I thank you for that.
Who agrees with me that the best place to find real hip hop is in the northwest? We got Blue Scholars, Boom Bap Project, DJ Wicked, Ohmega Watts, Braille, Theory Hazit, Groove Nation, and many more. Northwest STAND UP!!!!
I believe that Underground should surface to bring truth to the Music industry. I enjoy this type of music greatly, and I really wish to hear them in the radio with their words inspiring the world.
I think this is one of their best songs. It brings back so many memories with me. I met them at their live performance at the Silver Platters down by Northgate in Seattle. They are funny guys.
Love this song, been listening to it for years and i never get bored of it!!! Amazing production and too deep lyrics! I still dont understand how come so little people undestand great music and how come so many folow dumb and brainwash rap artists!!!
peace to all my west coast brothas n sistas. no matter race, color, creed. i love this album. it saddens me this group goes unda tha radar. i got tobacco road n tha otha joints sabzi has produce. hes bad to. peace
i just saw these guys last week in sacramento and they were amazing. Geo remembered us from hip hop in the park and the people power tour in berkeley, and showed us hella love during the blue scholars set. after he was done he jumped off the stage and gave my cousins and I hugs. and as we were leaving we chopped it up with sabzi and took pictures with him. they are truly some genuine dudes. love 'em! they deserve to be noticed
mayne i love the blue scholars no homo! sabzi just chillen in the back while geologic lace the track holdin it down for the northwest gotta love real hip hop! bringin back that old school feel
new favorite song it used to be never falling by living legends but this...... this song blows it out of the water its not even close. why isnt this mainstream hip-hop??
These guys just performed last night In NYC and tore the stage uppp!!!!!! anybody who's a fan and hasn't gone to a show, make it your business!! it's a truly great experience to see these guys, they're exactly what you'd expect them to be, cool honest guys who are what they rap/make (music). with that being said i became an even bigger fan after last night, i didn't think that was possible lol
Blue Scholars are probably the most down to Earth hip hop artists that have emerged ontop the hip-hop scene in years. These lyrics hit home alot more than a beat littered with half the taboo dictionary. stripping it down to the basics and just keeping their lyrics pure and true is what really separates them from the rest of the market. Keep an eye of these guys, they are going big.
I love seattle artists because they really care about the people. I've yet to meet Geo and Saba, but I've met Gabe, Khingz, DJ B-Girl and other artists and theyre all very chill.
man Seattle, you are so lucky to have artists like the blue scholars and common market respresenting you, im just happy to be from the northwest with genuine guys like this comin out. none of that whack shit
stand up or fall down, stand up or fall down, while the record goes round, stand up or fall down, stand up or fall down, stand up or fall down, while the record goes round, let the whole town know that it's US!can't stop watchin the video aha.
They just came to my school too, they did some awesome samples, In Bloom, Paper Planes, Float On. By the way in case you guys want to know, it was Brewster High School, Washington and it was amazing.
this deserves so many more views.. but how thats the society we live in.. overrated talentless "thugs" get played. While tru lyricists get left behind. Spread the word of real hip hop. Dont let out culture die.
Their songs ring especially true for Seattlites and us at UW, but they go so far beyond that. They are in my opinion the best hip hop group out there right now.
Yeah MPLS ! I saw them at the big midwest hip hop show (called Soundset) along with rhymesayers and a bunch of other rappers. Its an outside concert listening to top mc's doing their thing. Blue Scholars, The Pharcyde, Heiruspecs, Toki Wright, and Brother Ali were my favorites. There were other good ones too like Atmosphere, POS, MF Doom, Freeway etc... Seriously if your from the Midwest and enjoy some good hip hop make the trip next year, it's an all day event and definitely worth it.
Much Love from the UK.
"Dignified soldier's who walk with the spirit of 12 Million plus lost and found in this lyric" - Blown away
I remember playin this for anyone back in the 2000s.."i got your back even if you don't got mine" that line always got em..still love it though
Man I wish I could re-live 2007. It's when you watch videos like this that you realize how much things have changed.
Times have truly changed from when this comment was made, we entered the stage on our lives where we no longer understand what this world is thinking.
GREAT YEAR
That's beyond awesome, Much love and peace from Raleigh, NC USA
Blue Scholars all over the globe, that's why most of it's Blue.
Legit, incredible song. The flow is out of this world, the lyrics rock my mind, overall, this makes me want to be as good of man as I can ever be

Sabzi is an incredible producer, tailors each beat to whatever artist he works with and makes it sound so good.
