When I was 19, I fell for the tool trucks and easy financing. When the shop I work for closed, due to the owner's wife passing, I owed $8000 in tool debt. I was lucky that a much older gentleman was retiring and looking for tools for his home workshop. He paid off my debt and I gave him everything. He got way more than he realized. I specialized in 4x4 repairs and builds. I eventually rebuilt with Craftsman. In the '90s and now I shop Harbor Freight. HF has come a long way in the past 5 to 10 years. We didn't get our HF until a few years ago. Keep up the good work, and I'll keep watching. Stay warm up there.
Sounds like you dodged a huge bullet there! HF certainly has gotten much better. They used to be the joke in your average shop, and now the joke is on all the other brands.

These are great carts for the money. I got mine from a friend who saw it in the trash, had a bad drawer slide and no keys. Spent about $25 to fix both and use it all the time. Great video too!
Just want to say thanks for the video on the add a leaf springs. My 18 year old Toyota needed a little help and these springs did the trick----now hauling full bed s of fire wood again.
U know that 30 yr old Craftsman toolbox is different gauge of steel that what one is being fabricated today, it's nice to see people hold on to stuff and take care of them, enjoy ur new tool cart
That old box has seen some jobs. Built my first motors with that box and it's tools back in 1997 We used to do a lot of rebuilds of the old Volvo Red Blocks back then. It's a little scratched up from the years, but then again so am I.
Yep, and typically the lid won’t shut properly if one or both are on upside down due to the nature of the way the shocks operate. They definitely should both be the same for that reason alone, aside from our OCD! 😂

thanks for the video my dog killed the instruction manual I figure out how to put everything else together but those four little brackets that go in the top I wasn't 100% sure where they went but that's where I was going to put them anyways
I know it has "locking nuts" but I'd still suggest putting some loctite on everything. I might use mine too much but all the bolts was backing out. All the hardware also rusted up the first humid summer here so I replaced it with SS stuff. Overall I like it better than the snap off tool cart I have.
My old matco cart was so beat up that I sold it to a new tech when I left my last job. I had replaced the shocks and the drawer slides at least 2 times over the last 20 years so I got my use out of it. I hope this one lasts me to the retirement phase of my life.
One "gotcha" I feels bears mentioning. The holes to attach the top box support bracket are NOT in the center of the four posts. Therefore, you have to pay attention and attach the posts to the rolling tray such that the shorter distance between the bottom holes and middle holes faces DOWN (see around 8:40 in the video and you can tell what I'm saying). I didn't see anything about this in the printed assembly instructions, but it is important for the box to fit properly on the top.
Good tip, I remember watching someones video on building a work bench- he must have not read the directions because it took him forever to build and you can tell that he had to undo many steps.
I’m thinking about buying one of these us general carts fairly soon. Probably next time HFT has a parking lot sale. I think they usually have one in mid August which is when I’m gonna pick one up. I’m also planning on getting the single drawer service cart to use for my car wash supplies.
The top portion can be installed with one person if you remove the drawers which makes it lighter. Also doing so helps to fix the drawers if they don't shut all the way.
I know it's late but one should use a square when doing the final tighten up. Having it on level ground helps but a square is needed to get it sorted out proper.
Sure you figured it out by now, but this was a massive pain in the twat for me as well. I ended up pushing as hard as I could on the bolt head and used a socket to get the nut going. I think half the time spent putting this box together was on the damn wheels.

They are a better quality than the old craftsman box, and have grease fittings. My floor is a little uneven on spots and has a few cracks. No issues so far.
You must of installed something wrong. I had to force a couple bolts in on one of the reinforcement brackets on one corner. Rest were fine. Never tighten everything down all the way so there is wiggle room
Your casters went on way too easy, the carriage style bolts wouldn't stay in the slots and I had a hell of a time getting them on. HF should change the bolt style or make squares that back the bolts up better

one part that would have been nice to see is the lifting of teh box and sliding it into the brackets... I know that had to be a "grunting" session
Assembled it in 30 minutes to 1 hour? Nonsense. I just put one together and, while straight forward, it still took several hours.

I finally loosened all the bolts 🔩 took the drawers out and it slid right in.

What are your thoughts on the caster wheels, they are bigger than your Craftsman chest wheels, should make it easier to go over floor cracks?

Did you use the nylock nuts on the casters? I am having trouble with them.
No, these were flat nuts with lock washers.
Managed to get the nylocks tightened by first hammering the carriage bolts into place.
So I see that the chest of drawers hangs on the top of the 4 legs. It doesn't really sit on those front and side braces.

Fit in my Camry today fine just had to take the box and put it in the trunk lol and the box in the back seats
I shoved it in my 2015 passats trunk🤣🤣. Had to leave trunk open but I tied it to the hinges and it didn't move an inch on the way home
