He is only in the urban parts. There are beautiful neighborhoods here, not a lot lot to do but there are plentys store eating places. The parts he drove around in are indeed the high crime areas. I live here now born and raised

Yea he drove through the north. That's the slummest part of the ville. He should've drove through the East or West side. Those are the best parts of the city.

Thks for sharing, I lived cross Nelson & Hwy 82. can’t recall any happy days of G.ville. Except the tasty buffalo fish sandwiches.
Family moved while I was 9, I’m 68 now. The Miss river or the levy has lots of horror stories.

I havent been home in many years thou so not sure if bowling alley is still there or RollerWorld. Loved going there as a kid.

Tuareg music is from North Africa. In fact, you are not wrong because the blues music that appeared in Mississippi has roots in West and North Africa among the Tuareg and Sahel Africans.

This is true. The connection is tragic, though (many Tuareg people were taken to the American South as slaves).

I’m thinking of moving here, super affordable houses.
Where I live houses are averaging 700,000$.
And minimum wage is barely 50,000$

    • @brightharbor_
      @brightharbor_ 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

I’ve been thinking the same thing (housing prices here are astronomical, too). I think I’d miss the mountains and the more socially progressive atmosphere out here, though.

@@brightharbor_ Same, I live in a super busy Tourist attraction, (Cape Cod, MA).
Honestly , I’m actually looking at buying a condo in either Florida, or Texas.
They have Condos in Florida that you can own, seen several 2 bedroom, 1 baths for around $85,000-$100,000 in Florida.
Even cheaper in Texas, right in the city (Houston) found multiple 1-2 bedrooms for around $50,000-$65,000 with low HOA fees, def something to look into if you don’t want to ditch the city but can’t afford to pay a $600,000 mortgage + interest rates and insurance for that big of a loan, is insane.
The pay is better here in MA, I make around 30$ an hour, the key is to make money here , and than move south.
I’m going to buy the condo all cash (outright) so won’t have a mortgage .
I’m going to still stay in MA with family to make money in the winter, than vacate to Florida/Texas every summer it’ll be like my getaway. Take a 2-4 month break from work etc to enjoy that southern heat.

    • @DSKilla9

It's not worth it. Minimum wage here is still 7.25 and it's hard to get a job if you're not getting your job transferred.

    • @organikproductionz9347

@@DSKilla9 it’s hard to find work over there? Minimum wage may be low, but so is the cost of living, you guys got $180,000-$240,000 houses, come here to cape cod ma and there is nothing below $650,000, I make 25$ an hour and still will never be able to afford a house here.
Key is to work up here and save money than move to Florida.

@@DSKilla9 I plan on saving $150,000 and moving to Florida to buy a house, take out a $85,000 30 year fixed mortgage, will be super cheap, my mortgage payment will be around $550 a month.

This isn’t bad at all, for all the talk of “soul-crushing poverty” and “high crime” down there. It just looks like an average American small city.
A city doesn’t have to be as wealthy as Boston or Santa Fe to be a good, safe place to live.
The real downside of the Delta (for me) is the lack of outdoor activities (no *mountains*!) and vegan food options.

Wikipedia might be a good source of info. Some of the real estate sites will show the grading of the area schools and also crime rates (and types) in their listings.
