    I love how meticulous and careful he does the gluing and constantly checks and rechecks each joint. Really a sign of a master model builder. Love your videos.

    On the interior parts such as the wheel well and shell ejection ports, I always glue them from the inside instead of the outside. Cleaner that way.

      I was just going to ask about that. Is that glue really so thin that it leaves no marks on the exterior plastic? I haven't built a model in a loooong time, and back in the day, gluing from the outside was a cardinal sin if you wanted a nice-looking model. So Lightsone2 and all you modern-modeling guys, can you glue from the outside and it's OK? No smudge marks, no extra sanding, it's all good? Or just gotta stick with inside gluing only? Help out an old-timer here!

    I absolutely love these old war birds born out of a saddening necessity that shaped the face of the world we know. A sobering thought that man seems at its most inventive when trying to find ways of killing each other. We must keep these symbols alive though as forgetting allows history to repeat itself.

    Outstanding work as usual. What decals did you use? I have this kit but it doesn't include Tex Hill's plane, only Maj Edward Recter's "104" and Lt Robert Vaught's "94".

    • @Scaleaton
      @Scaleaton  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you very much. I always use Tamiya X-22 for gloss varnish. Also i use Tamiya XF-86 Flat Clear and AlcladII Matt

    I always wondered how master modelers get glossy white to look good on jet airliner models. It seems like that would be difficult.

    Very nice model! Is there a reason why you apply the glue after mating the parts and not before joining them?

    • @Scaleaton
      @Scaleaton  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you David! I always fix small parts after all airbrush works completed. Because i always break small parts while spraying airbrush :)

      David Villar Miranda because it is cappilary action glue, and cappillary action glue dries quickly

    • @tommylakasi3022
      @tommylakasi3022 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      David Villar Miranda capillary action means the glue flows into the spaces. That way its easier to build

    The fit seems pretty impressive. Was it a nice model?

    • @Scaleaton
      @Scaleaton  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is still the best E model on market. But do not follow the kit's instructions for the fuselage assembly. Follow my way for less filling/sanding.

    Nice video. How much pressure did you use when cutting the masking tape from the canopy?

    • @Scaleaton
      @Scaleaton  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! Not much because i always use a new blade for cutting masks. Never use old or used blades for this. Easy with a new blade.

    Great build! What is the name/brand of the glue you're using? It seems really good

    • @victorrodrigues8135
      @victorrodrigues8135 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is it okay to apply this one in the canopy? (just a bit of glue, of course)

    • @Scaleaton
      @Scaleaton  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! I use Tamiya Extra Thin Cement for everything. It's ok with clear parts but i recommend water based D3 wood glue for canopies and clear parts. It becomes transparent when cured and realy strong.

    How do you film the model making, from waht angle and how do you hold up the camera

  • @octane2099
    @octane2099 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    The interior is it light green on vallejo air paint do you add thinner

  • @francispare1310
    @francispare1310 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Could you explain the process where lighting the tones and putting the base color again ? Paint/thinner ratio...how you spray the lighter tone...is it white ? And the base color after is it more diluted ?

    • @Scaleaton
      @Scaleaton  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Francis, for light tones i add white to the base color mostly. I always decide Paint/thinner ratio after spraying test surface. It depends on paint type and color. For the final step; i make a mixture with the base color %10 paint %90 thinner.

    • @francispare1310
      @francispare1310 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      And what would be your ratio of white with the base paint ? I love your technic and want to try it

    • @Scaleaton
      @Scaleaton  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on base color. I use pure white for lighter colors, %10 white for darker colors.

    • @francispare1310

      Thank you
      Great work and thanks for the info. You should do a detailed tutorial on this technique.

    What kind of tape did you use for masking the model

    • @Scaleaton
      @Scaleaton  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use Tamiya and 3M tapes

    • @davidpiper2058

      Have you ever had issues with the tape pulling the paint off?

    • @tommylakasi3022

      David Piper tamiya usually doesnt take paint off, if you let the paint dry properly, it shouldnt come off
