Beautiful episode! Congrats to Nat & Dan and WELCOME to our world, Oli. I just want to add, that as a mum/parent myself, you have ALL the RIGHT to say NO to not allowing someone else to carry the baby, especially if you feel uncomfortable. Your baby is your PRIORITY. It is entirely your CHOICE and no one has the right to say otherwise. Don't SHY or feel awkward. Just say it outright and people will understand.

Mega congrats to Nat & Dan on arrival of Baby Ollie 🎉🎉🎉 enjoy parenthood as it’s an amazing journey and have fun. Btw, my wife and I had the same experience birthing our first daughter (also at Thomson) going thru induction for 13hrs and then C-Sect with the half curtain thingy and me watching the doctors operating while my wife was awake 😅 listening you guys sharing your story really brought back fond memories.. ❤

Congratulations to Dan and Nat on the birth of baby Oliver. Dan, don't worry about looking sian. Every parent goes through that and believe me, we sympathise. However, if I may, I want to touch a little bit on the the issue that almost none of you even given a thought about things like water births or find the idea of it strange. It's almost like most Singaporeans don't have any idea of birth till they need to give birth choosing instead to remain ignorant what one can expect during a birth and the choices that are available to you in such circumstances. For clarification, an epidural is what is given to a prospective mother about to have a C-section and is generally given almost halfway up her back. In general, the mother feels things happening to her but no pain at all and is localised to the particular area they are working in so that is why she can feel her toes. Also mother is usually kept awake for a C-section in most cases so that the father and mother can experience the birth of their child together. The baby blue is normal. They sometimes even come out pale and not red as most people expect.
The question of whether you save the mother or baby is a complicated one and there are legal ramifications in either choice so much so that the choice may or may not be in the hands of the husband/father. What is even more worrisome is the question of sexual relations during pregnancy. While it is true that women with certain pre-existing conditions should abstain from sex for obvious reasons, the abstinence of sex during pregnancy in South East Asia is mainly due to myth. Obviously, sexual activity does go down markedly during pregnancy mainly due to reduction in libido and a couple of other physical factors where the mother feels less attractive during pregnancy.
I can't speak for the story that John was narrating but that kind of occurrence is extremely rare. Even then, the chances of it happening are so slim that a baby has a better chance of dying from Sudden Infant Death Syndrom than being dropped. I am flabbergasted that this is where Singaporean young adults are with their education of pregnancy and childbirth. Being a father myself, I can't believe that all of this came from the mouth of people I respected, particularly John. All of this, happening during a time where Singapore wants their citizens to have more babies. It's no wonder that Singapore's birth rate is at 0.97 births per mother as of 2023.

My mum used to look after my babies and she would make the excuse that it’s time to change her diapers. There will always be someone who wants to kiss the baby and mum would quickly take my baby inside with the excuse that it’s feeding time.
    Bless her❤
