A common riser for similar cabs is a great way to go if you need a bit more height for multiple machines. I have all my Deluxe cabs and cabs with risers on one. Arcade1up should have a program if you buy 10 cabs you get one free. Have a card like all businesses do these days, an incentive to collect more.

My goodness this cab is perfect!! From the marquee to the lighted coin door. Arcade1up nailed it!! I’m a fan of the lighted buttons, fits Galaga to perfection. It’s going to look great in your arcade room. Love your honest review, like you mentioned the Height and the deck, but overall a great looking cab. I can’t wait for 2024. That special edition plaque is a nice touch! A1up listened to our complaints about not having that on the 40th anniversary SW cab, I think.. Great review, man. This is definitely on my want list.
Cab looks great. I hope they make those led coin doors standard on all deluxes. Any future versions of galaga need to have the partycade line-up. It just makes sense.

This cabinet was not on my radar at all but after watching this and actually looking at the features I am actively looking for it. I know some do not like the light up buttons but I really do. I already have that line up on my dig dug but I love the look of this and have just enough room for it. Thanks for the quality review!

@ZacksRides the vault is just for light up buttons, coin doors and a metal certificate. Hopefully these sell well and we see this caliber for all deluxe in the future.
Phil, this was a great review. You were so in-depth and it does look like 1up might be listening a little finally with that on/off switch for the lighted buttons. I hope you get more of these from 1Up to review!
I wish they could integrate the LIVE and LED button toggles into the coin eject buttons, all the extra buttons and switches ugly up the control panel art
Three things I would change, and it would be a keeper.... 1. It needs to be an XL. 2. Game lineup should be the same as the Galaga's 40th anniversary partycade. 3. The control panel needs tweaking. The joystick should be placed on the left side of the CP. (Galaga plays better on the gen 1 version because the CP is more accurate)
Great, honest and well thought out review man! That Galaga Deluxe cabinet does look great as is another iconic arcade cabinet from the 80's like Pac-Man when I was a kid! And I do agree with your couple points that you said could have made it better. Right on man!

The only thing It’s missing for me is Gaplus and Bosconian. They had those on the party cade version so I was really hoping they’d put it on the deluxe. Other than that it looks perfect

I have one of these that I got on Prime Day for $399 and it's well worth the asking price. Even though I already had the games it comes with on my Pac Man XL, there's just something about playing Galaga on it's own themed cabinet. It really looks great.
I saw a local pawn shop has an open box Black "Vault" Deluxe MS. PAC-MAN with light up buttons and coin door. I think it's a WM online exclusive, but can't find anything about "Vault" editions. Is this from WM? I like how they've basically started re-release last year's legacy cabs that got bad screens as "Vault" with better screens and light up coin door/buttons. One could argue Atari 50th is basically the first "Vault" version, and an upgrade of the Centipede cab that had the proper form but bad screen.
Very true the Atari 50 is definitely an exclusive:) I know Target, Walmart, Best Buy and Amazon have carried Galaga. 299-349 is the best deal out there.
Great review! This cabinet is FINALLY what they should've released from the very beginning. They wouldn't had to drop prices down to next to nothing if they did this to all of the cabinets. I still would prefer 100% height though. Good trend though. Thanks!

Very nice work buddy. You could sell ice to an Eskimo haha. Im impressed with this special edition model. I honestly had no idea they existed. The light up coin doors and buttons are a nice improvement. I don't know how i didnt know this was a thing haha.

Hey GG, both joysticks are the same on them also the XL, but the buttons on Galaga and PAC XL are better than PAC deluxe those buttons are the mushy type the light up are better.
If I had room, I'd get this just for the 80's nostalgia. I knew space would be an issue down the road, so I got Class of 81. Great review. Ps. Glad you can turn off those light up buttons. Not really a fan of those.
Great review, PD7... i still have the OG Galaga arcade1up from wave/gen 1, and i do see that arcade1up went all out to improve the product! However, the game lists still and will be my issue because it is a copy and paste from Pacman, Ms Pacman, Pacmania, and class 81 cabs... This is where arcade1up has dropped the ball repeatedly, but it was a great review...

Hi PD7! Greetings from Malta (EU). Thanks for the great review. These deluxe cabs rock! What made you decide to pick up this cabinet if you already have the same games lineup on the Pacman XL? Just asking :) BTW , I think that there is a great place for that commemorative plaque IMHO, and that is to stick it in the black area above the screen. It will get maximum viewing by all and fill up that gap nicely too.

I've been on Malta all my life. Born and raised. I agree about the look of the cabinets. If you want a close replication of an arcade you need them to look like actual ones. I am old enough to remember all the classics and grew up playing them. I remember Space Invaders being released and until then my only experience was Pong. What a leap in quality and playability that was. Then all the others started coming out, Galaxian with the first color monitor and graphics.... Asteroids, Galaga, Pacman. DK.....thanks the A1up, we can taste the memories again and collect old favorites. Keep up the good work and your walk-arounds! I love them.

Hi GG, the buttons on Galaga are slightly better because they are a different shape that the standard 1up buttons that Pacman deluxe would have. Both function probably the same it’s just Galagas are different plus lighting up.
God rid of all my 1ups but if I were to go back I’d start w this. I hope they do go all xl tho. I would jump back in if they did a Star Wars xl, tron xl, centipede/tempest xl and robotron xl

I know. I got mine for 399 from them back in late November and also got the sf2 from them as well for 399 in November too. Now the sf2 is 299. They don't want to price match but will take a return. Decisions decisions lol.
@PDX7 unfortunately not. I have alot of cabs still in boxes awaiting someday more space. I'm selective as to which ones I install. Just sold my original streetfigter and mk2 from 2018 for 200 each and replaced with deluxe. Huge difference. I'm surprised how many people texted me through market place to buy them. Must be a huge following. Next on my limited space you know of is time crisis followed by pacman xl. Galaga will be on my future put together list. I know It's a good cab. It's why I bought them with the fomo of them all be gone soon. I think this is my final year of buying cabs. All major titles I have now. Maybe if something worthwhile comes I'll get it but for now I'm stuffed.
So it's basically a Pac-Man Deluxe with different graphics kinda as far as the games? How are Galaga and Galaxian on it. I know something is off. The framerate seems a little skippy compared to my gen 1 Galaga. I think an update fixed some of the other frame skip/responsiveness on some games. Trying to figure out who uses what on the Galaga leaderboard online. Took forever to get a decent game. (I don't cheat with that fast fire or no enemy fire stuff.) Got 999,850 for now. Just need to "properly nudge" the score to 999,990. Feels like you cant shoot as fast (I mean like precise fast shooting when they are right on top of you) or something. I had 3.2 million on my gen 1 Galaga but my best on here so far is 1.1 million. Sad. Trying to figure out the icons for who used what cabinet. Cherries are the Pac-Man Deluxe... Which ai saw nonody else in the top 25 scores use.
Yes and Pacman XL, just different skins. They seem ok to me I haven’t noticed anything. How is the control deck height for you? You’re getting awesome scores!
@@PDX7 Ok, you are Mr. 1Up... You know all the cabinets. So for the leader boards the cherries are the Pac-Man Deluxe. I see a couple of different 81's so I take it there are 2 different types of Class of 81. I'm guessing the Galaga stage 10 shield is the Galaga Deluxe. I saw a Dig Dug and a Ms. Pac cocktail icon. There was one that had a Pacmania looking Pac-Man icon and then a more plain looking Pac-Man icon. Also... Would you be the GarcadeFunZone guy on the leaderboard?
@@PDX7 FunZoneGarcade... Had that backward. Thought since you go to Garcade and you got a Galaga Deluxe... Deck height is fine. I like the angle of the screen on it. I can't use it as a shelf for my phone or anything like my gen 1 Galaga because of the slant. Lol. Only change that would have been nice would be to have another button on the left side of the stick. I'm used to playing Super Pac-Man right handed. Cabinet looks great otherwise. Hope it's strong enough at the joint where the two halves meet. I would have done 2 more of those metal pieces that join them at the front and back on the side pieces. Risers look a bit ugly but they look sturdy. I rather have this new look. More accurate. Win on the monitor! My gen 1 Galaga when viewed from the sides.... Ouch. Yeah, no risers is the way to go. They are hard to find now anyway. Yep, you are Mr. 1Up. Coleco had Mr. Arcade back in the 80's. He shrunk arcade machines down to table top size. You are Mr. Arcade 1Up. You only shrink cabinets down to 3/4 scale size. I might have to take another look at that leaderboard. It might not be two versions of 81. One might be 40? Did the 40th anniversary one have WiFi?
@@PDX7 Just checked the high score board. It's another 81. Also saw a plain Ms. Pac-Man and a Galaxian. Is there some list somewhere that tells which icons belong to which model machine? Seems top Galaga players use the class of 81 machines a lot. (Which again is very telling since nobody else is using a Deluxe Pac-Man for any of the top 25 Galaga scores.) Hope Galaga and Galaxian get an update someday. The speed up Pac-Man and Pac-Man Plus feel right now. I need to look at Pacmania more but I think the scrolling might be smoother. Was that Galaga Deluxe really loud out of the box? I know my Pac-Man Deluxe was until the update was applied. One flaw though... They took the stripe off of the Coke can! Booooo! That's like taking the Budweiser logo out of Tapper. Oh well. Oh yeah, Pac Land with the buttons. I guess it's right but I'm trying to remember if I played it with a Joystick at Great America. Might have been a converted Galaxian cab? Been a long time and only played it once or twice.
Very infomercialish... but I guess that is expected. That being said... that is the best looking one I've seen in a long time. Id sell the pac-man and keep the Galaga for sure lol.

They are all toys. lol Whether it be OG arcades that we grew up playing popping coins into or the smaller Arcade1up or other company versions. Hate to break it to you but all video games, cabinets and consoles are toys. And I have a huge collection and I'm not ashamed to call them as such.

I love my Galaga deluxe cab but just one thing …..is it my imagination it is Galaga not as smooth running as it is on other 1up cabs ?
I can’t tell Peter, it seems the same on Pacman XL just the menu and start up are different but don’t notice the game play different.
I have one of these that I got on Prime Day for $399 and it's well worth the asking price. Even though I already had the games it comes with on my Pac Man XL, there's just something about playing Galaga on it's own themed cabinet. It really looks great.

I saw a local pawn shop has an open box Black "Vault" Deluxe MS. PAC-MAN with light up buttons and coin door. I think it's a WM online exclusive, but can't find anything about "Vault" editions. Is this from WM? I like how they've basically started re-release last year's legacy cabs that got bad screens as "Vault" with better screens and light up coin door/buttons. One could argue Atari 50th is basically the first "Vault" version, and an upgrade of the Centipede cab that had the proper form but bad screen.
Very true the Atari 50 is definitely an exclusive:) I know Target, Walmart, Best Buy and Amazon have carried Galaga. 299-349 is the best deal out there.
Why is the option for scanlines removed? For the real experience from the 80’s….this should be a must

Great review! This cabinet is FINALLY what they should've released from the very beginning. They wouldn't had to drop prices down to next to nothing if they did this to all of the cabinets. I still would prefer 100% height though. Good trend though. Thanks!

Very nice work buddy. You could sell ice to an Eskimo haha. Im impressed with this special edition model. I honestly had no idea they existed. The light up coin doors and buttons are a nice improvement. I don't know how i didnt know this was a thing haha.

Looks great. Does the Pac-Man Deluxe use the same coin door assembly just not wired to light up like the Galaga? Any way yet to soft mod these deluxes?
Yes pacman is the same structural just need to pick up a Retro 530 light up kit and it will be identical to Galaga.
Great cabinet I'm thinking between this one and pacman XL the 19 inch is the only reason

@dannyr2272 yes they are the same, Galaga does feel a little tighter with the joystick but maybe just because it’s brand new.
The only thing i don't like is the galaga decal on the front. It makes it look like it's on a riser. I think it would look a lot cleaner without it.
I can see that, but the arcade has that same look cause that’s the first thing I thought too.

Hey GG, both joysticks are the same on them also the XL, but the buttons on Galaga and PAC XL are better than PAC deluxe those buttons are the mushy type the light up are better.

If I had room, I'd get this just for the 80's nostalgia. I knew space would be an issue down the road, so I got Class of 81. Great review. Ps. Glad you can turn off those light up buttons. Not really a fan of those.

Great review, PD7... i still have the OG Galaga arcade1up from wave/gen 1, and i do see that arcade1up went all out to improve the product! However, the game lists still and will be my issue because it is a copy and paste from Pacman, Ms Pacman, Pacmania, and class 81 cabs... This is where arcade1up has dropped the ball repeatedly, but it was a great review...
Thank you GCA with the price of this now, I’d go for Class of 81 for 499 and getting Ms Pacman on it.

Hi PD7! Greetings from Malta (EU). Thanks for the great review. These deluxe cabs rock! What made you decide to pick up this cabinet if you already have the same games lineup on the Pacman XL? Just asking :) BTW , I think that there is a great place for that commemorative plaque IMHO, and that is to stick it in the black area above the screen. It will get maximum viewing by all and fill up that gap nicely too.

I've been on Malta all my life. Born and raised. I agree about the look of the cabinets. If you want a close replication of an arcade you need them to look like actual ones. I am old enough to remember all the classics and grew up playing them. I remember Space Invaders being released and until then my only experience was Pong. What a leap in quality and playability that was. Then all the others started coming out, Galaxian with the first color monitor and graphics.... Asteroids, Galaga, Pacman. DK.....thanks the A1up, we can taste the memories again and collect old favorites. Keep up the good work and your walk-arounds! I love them.

Hi GG, the buttons on Galaga are slightly better because they are a different shape that the standard 1up buttons that Pacman deluxe would have. Both function probably the same it’s just Galagas are different plus lighting up.

Coin Door looks too low on all almost all the Deluxe models. Other than that, I really like this cab. The plate is a nice touch too.

Every time they shoot an update they remove the splash screen! Its happened to class of 81 and the pacman deluxe 😡

@@petermacnab1871 the arcade1up logo boot screen with a cabinet specific intro, after an update it's just the logo without an intro, in forums I've heard there are legal reasons they have do it but idk
The little animation when you turn it on of the ship being captured. That used to be on my Class of '81 cabinet too. After an update, it was removed.

Interesting the same company that is selling sf2 and Galaga, spreetail, just lowered them price of this cab to 359 on Amazon.

I know. I got mine for 399 from them back in late November and also got the sf2 from them as well for 399 in November too. Now the sf2 is 299. They don't want to price match but will take a return. Decisions decisions lol.

@PDX7 unfortunately not. I have alot of cabs still in boxes awaiting someday more space. I'm selective as to which ones I install. Just sold my original streetfigter and mk2 from 2018 for 200 each and replaced with deluxe. Huge difference. I'm surprised how many people texted me through market place to buy them. Must be a huge following. Next on my limited space you know of is time crisis followed by pacman xl. Galaga will be on my future put together list. I know It's a good cab. It's why I bought them with the fomo of them all be gone soon. I think this is my final year of buying cabs. All major titles I have now. Maybe if something worthwhile comes I'll get it but for now I'm stuffed.

The black levels look bad to me. The monitors in these cabinets were famously high contrast, but this screen looks so much like what it is: an LCD.

So it's basically a Pac-Man Deluxe with different graphics kinda as far as the games? How are Galaga and Galaxian on it. I know something is off. The framerate seems a little skippy compared to my gen 1 Galaga. I think an update fixed some of the other frame skip/responsiveness on some games. Trying to figure out who uses what on the Galaga leaderboard online. Took forever to get a decent game. (I don't cheat with that fast fire or no enemy fire stuff.) Got 999,850 for now. Just need to "properly nudge" the score to 999,990. Feels like you cant shoot as fast (I mean like precise fast shooting when they are right on top of you) or something. I had 3.2 million on my gen 1 Galaga but my best on here so far is 1.1 million. Sad. Trying to figure out the icons for who used what cabinet. Cherries are the Pac-Man Deluxe... Which ai saw nonody else in the top 25 scores use.
Yes and Pacman XL, just different skins. They seem ok to me I haven’t noticed anything. How is the control deck height for you? You’re getting awesome scores!
@@PDX7 Ok, you are Mr. 1Up... You know all the cabinets. So for the leader boards the cherries are the Pac-Man Deluxe. I see a couple of different 81's so I take it there are 2 different types of Class of 81. I'm guessing the Galaga stage 10 shield is the Galaga Deluxe. I saw a Dig Dug and a Ms. Pac cocktail icon. There was one that had a Pacmania looking Pac-Man icon and then a more plain looking Pac-Man icon. Also... Would you be the GarcadeFunZone guy on the leaderboard?

@@PDX7 FunZoneGarcade... Had that backward. Thought since you go to Garcade and you got a Galaga Deluxe... Deck height is fine. I like the angle of the screen on it. I can't use it as a shelf for my phone or anything like my gen 1 Galaga because of the slant. Lol. Only change that would have been nice would be to have another button on the left side of the stick. I'm used to playing Super Pac-Man right handed. Cabinet looks great otherwise. Hope it's strong enough at the joint where the two halves meet. I would have done 2 more of those metal pieces that join them at the front and back on the side pieces. Risers look a bit ugly but they look sturdy. I rather have this new look. More accurate. Win on the monitor! My gen 1 Galaga when viewed from the sides.... Ouch. Yeah, no risers is the way to go. They are hard to find now anyway. Yep, you are Mr. 1Up. Coleco had Mr. Arcade back in the 80's. He shrunk arcade machines down to table top size. You are Mr. Arcade 1Up. You only shrink cabinets down to 3/4 scale size. I might have to take another look at that leaderboard. It might not be two versions of 81. One might be 40? Did the 40th anniversary one have WiFi?
@@PDX7 Just checked the high score board. It's another 81. Also saw a plain Ms. Pac-Man and a Galaxian. Is there some list somewhere that tells which icons belong to which model machine? Seems top Galaga players use the class of 81 machines a lot. (Which again is very telling since nobody else is using a Deluxe Pac-Man for any of the top 25 Galaga scores.) Hope Galaga and Galaxian get an update someday. The speed up Pac-Man and Pac-Man Plus feel right now. I need to look at Pacmania more but I think the scrolling might be smoother. Was that Galaga Deluxe really loud out of the box? I know my Pac-Man Deluxe was until the update was applied. One flaw though... They took the stripe off of the Coke can! Booooo! That's like taking the Budweiser logo out of Tapper. Oh well. Oh yeah, Pac Land with the buttons. I guess it's right but I'm trying to remember if I played it with a Joystick at Great America. Might have been a converted Galaxian cab? Been a long time and only played it once or twice.

They are all toys. lol Whether it be OG arcades that we grew up playing popping coins into or the smaller Arcade1up or other company versions. Hate to break it to you but all video games, cabinets and consoles are toys. And I have a huge collection and I'm not ashamed to call them as such.
