As a Dumbartonian and (former) dog owner, I can tell you the smell of mink in that area, which certain breeds of dog find irresistible. They follow the scent but can’t see the ledge if the bridge, which is incredibly steep, and are unable to prevent sliding from the bridge. Sone blame the spirits related to a white lady, which I don’t think I need to touch that, or to the incident involving Kevin Moy who, while suffering a manic episode, threw his baby son over the bridge. Kevin had severe mental health issues, and suffered dangerous manic episodes. I don’t like to dwell on this one as I work in elderly care and was responsible for Kevin’s father. His father suffered several mental distress from the incident which caused mental health issues in later life. His father then suffered from severe dementia, as well as suffering a brain aneurysm. It would cause him severe distress but was unable to vocalise his issue. The family have suffered so much tragedy both before and since then, however this incident happened in the 90s, some 40 years after the dogs started jumping. The people of Dumbarton are fully aware it’s not spirits. We do have a history buried in the supernatural and the unicorn is our national animal , but that doesn’t mean we’re deluded or some backwater people who put hexes on each other

We’ve a saying here: what’s for you won’t go by you and this tale is a cruel and harsh reminder of that. The video was well done and I thought you were very respectful when mentioning what happened to Kevin. A lot if channels that cover this are only to happy to play him off as a psychopath, with some even suggesting he may have had links to satanism, witchcraft or black magic, rather than just another poor soul who slipped through the cracks of our failed mental health system.
