Hi thank you for your videos it’s actually being helping me I’m abt to start my 1st yr college frm September . One question wt subject did u choose during ur college time ? Does it effect when u went to uni n wt subject would u suggest me to do in college as I want to be a paramedic as well? Please help me out thank you ever so much 🙌
The way the roles work: You start as a trainee were you have to be supervised by a trained person when you are treating. Then you do your first aid course and you don't need to be observed. Then you can become advanced and work by yourself or you can join the cru or the MRT. Then you can become a patient transport attendant which means you work on the ambulances. Then become a emergency transport attendant which is just below a EMT and your drive on blues in the ambulance. Then you can join as a HCP and work in that role. If you need any more information just let me know.
I’m a cadet at St. John’s ambulance and I love cadets it’s literally my life now as made a few friends and in may I’ve got my first aid course for 2 weekends with my leader for 2 of those days
I've been in St Johns for 2 years now and it's a great opportunity! I'm doing my first aid course at the moment and I am a trainee right now! Keep at it! A trainee first aider is when you can do a certain amount of first aid but not everything. A first aider is when you can do everything first aid wise and and Advanced First Aider is when you can administer medications and oxygen etc...
I’m on the waiting list and omgg I’ve never been more terrified in my life! I don’t know anyone and I’m so scared! What sort of things do you do on your first day??? Please someone repsond!!
ItsLucee thank you Lucee - it's amazing and yes I second what you say. It's such a good chance to develop as a person Learning life saving techniques meeting people that you wouldn't have spoken to if it wasn't for them. I haven't gone out on any events yet but I'm looking forward for it
2OrdinaryGuys Events are fab! I've done three now, two small events and one large. It's so interesting seeing how comms plays a part in larger events but not in smaller ones. :)
Hi, it’s great to see another member talking about St. John. I’m a Cadet first Aider with St. John Wales. I’m currently in my 3rd year and it’s amazing! I’m currently going through assessments to become a Cadet trainer to provide training to others! Any questions or anything your struggling with let me know!
I’ve just started cadets and me and few others r working towards our membership award it’s super fun and loving it so much and already made some friends
Hi @@Hannah-pg2gb from what I remember you do not get issued personal first aid kits, this isn’t something you need. SJA provide everything you need for the sessions in order to learn skills etc. It’s definitely worth going! The only thing you’ll need to buy is the uniform, and when I went we had to bring a £1 coin with us for the session but that was years ago (things have probably changed). If you do end up going then good luck and have some fun! I’m a qualified paramedic now because of SJA.
2OrdinaryGuys It gives me an opportunity to give back to the community which means a lot to me. The events here are also quite amazing. What I enjoy most are the training sessions coz through them I get to learn so much!!!
I joined 2 weeks ago and I love it. But all we are doing is learning about St John and the cross and other things (like a class) and I’ll start first aid and games next week! (I went today)
The GamerBoy on your interview that you have you should have given your sizes. When doing your modules (might be different with cadets) they should come anytime while your doing them. As they should arrive for when you start going on events. Mine haven't arrived yet but don't really need them while doing modules *Kyle Sands*
ladies and gentlemen if you are cadet or adults in St John ambulance you will you have to pay £30 for uniform I've been a cadet for 5 years from jodie Ellen Charlotte
Adult volunteers have never needed to pay for their uniform. About 3 years ago new uniform came in and cadets had to fully pay for their uniform. Unlike the old uniform were you used to pay £10 deposit. Thanks, J
I'm joining St. John's ambulance cadets to figure out if I want to be a paramedic or a children's nurse. I'm super nervous to start, I wish I had started at badgers instead of starting with only one year in cadets before I'm 18
Alice Merga in my opinion - you should start as it's never to late with St. John Alice. You won't regret it trust me. It also teaches to you valuable life lessons and meet some amazing people... where you from?
I've been in sja for 3 years 16 I was a cadet trainne first aider at 17.5 I did an adult transfer and became a n trainee first aider with and adult unit 18 became a first aider and at almost 19 I became an advanced first aider and have lived evey minute of it.
Also the ranks go like this, trainee, certified, nco (non comanding officer),lance corporal, corporal and sergeant. Im an nco which is also an advanced first aider
Qingru Kong hello - the interview is just them getting to know you and for you to show that you will be committed to St. John with the events. Mine was nothing serious like any ordinary interview it was less formal and just well laid back. Be yourself and you'll smash it. Here if you have any questions...
First aidera for st Jhon's ambulance still have to go with a advanced first aider but they can treat and uce a walkie talkie as well as sighting of there own PRF's patient report forms But on events it depends who you are with
Whats up mate! Im also a cadet with the st johns ambulance in dublin, ongar! And we just finished a competition on saturday and came 3rd! I hope you have fun at the st johns ambulance and if you have any questions please dont hesitate to ask me!
They have something similar where i am (Australia), i'm not sure how similar it is though, but from the sounds of it and how you describe it, it could be very beneficial for up and coming students to use it as a stepping stone to get a feel for whats out there!
Hey, I’m thinking of joining my Local st Johns ambulance cadets , I’m 17 And my friend does it and I think it will be a great way to increase my knowledge on what could be very useful info. I’m also a performing arts student so the confidence building that the cadets could offer me would be great !! xx
Heyguys imjodie hey welcome to the 2OrdinaryGuys Family! You should apply via the website, if you type your location in it should come up. If you let me know what area you’re from I can double check to see if there’s any available online x

2OrdinaryGuys Once you complete your pathways training as it know as you will be a fully qualified member their is a test at the end so it is not a walk in the park. Good luck hope too see you out in a operational role on some duties !

Been a cadet there for 5 years! It is a great place to go if you want to apply for a paramedic science course. It is cheap and worth it!
It’s amazing! And fully recommend!
