  • Is a road bike with 32mm tires enough for a 100-mile gravel race in Fort Collins, Colorado? I got third on this set-up, so I guess it is!
    In this video, I talk about what worked well (bike, tires) and what did not work well (cages, CamelBak prep, sunglass lens). I also take you inside the gravel race and party that is FoCo Fondo.
    Here are some links for stuff I used. These are not affiliate links! These are just here for your information.

    I run Cadex Classics 32s on my "road" wheels for my gravel bike and I run the 28s on my road bike. They are great tires. Never get flats, they go on hookless tubeless rims like butter. Great for light gravel and rough roads.

    It's so refreshing to see a bike that isn't a rolling billboard. The whole package looks really classy. Way too expensive, but not over-styled. It reminds me of a Bentley Continental or Aston Martin Vantage instead of a Lamborghini, which to me is a complement.

    Ben, always appreciate your honest reviews. You have no problem pointing out issues with products and that is rare with a lot of the other "sponsored" reviews out there.

    Lived and trained in the Front Range for almost 20 years. Loved the scenery. Loved the cycling. Back in Europe, but this really made me miss everything about Colorado. Thanks for giving a shout out to this event. Heading back in December. Maybe I can get some laps in. Stomp’in cool bike!

    Such enjoyable and funny video! Felt like a participant. I laughed my *** with the camelbak gilet and the "operator"!! Hahaha 😆. Really envious about these beautiful events happening in the beautiful Colorado. The Enve bike is eye-catching but regarding the bottle cages-oh! I want them light and stylish but few are really grippy.

    Elite Cannibal XC holds my bottles pretty well even on bumpy single track, especially for how easy it is to get bottle in and out.

    Gravel 28s can't be far away, no? At least for these fast-gravel types like Ben. And I grin but who knows and it is all fun to follow, these tech attempts and advances. And thanks, Ben, for your videos and your casual yet informed approach to these bike and event show-and-tells. And I really like your delivery, very much like that of the late Bruce Brown in Endless Summer and On Any Sunday.

    Always interesting to get a review of a bike that is still capable but not full capital G gravel. Have you considered the latest Trek 2023 Domane that can unofficially take in a 40mm tire? You called BS on the last iteration.

    • @TheRidewithBenDelaney
      @TheRidewithBenDelaney  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good timing for that question! I have an aluminum version of that new Domane here, still in the box. Will get to it ASAP. I'm also eager to test the new Roubaix.

    • @leighnicholson2606
      @leighnicholson2606 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Two great biks! can't wait for your review!! I think bikes like these most certainly fall into the unroad class, solid choices for BWR SD. Like you ,I like a racier road bike feel and the Domane, for me, just so slightly misses that feeling with that tall headtube. If you step up to the much more agressive Domane RSL you definitely loose the tire capable 40mm tire size and any storage . This is where I am at in my bike journey not willing to give up road speed and yet willing to tackle the rough stuf by the seat of my shorts @@TheRidewithBenDelaney

    Subscribed--too cool to see Mr. Gravel in action on TH-cam! I'm also a Cadex Classics fan, and use them on Cadex 65 rims for flattish road stuff. By caliper measurement, the 28mm tire measures about 32mm, and the 25mm tire measures about 28mm. Internal rim width is 22.4mm-- same as yours? Do you get a similar bump in width? Love the ride and good longevity. Keep the vids coming, please!

    • @TheRidewithBenDelaney
      @TheRidewithBenDelaney  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nice. Thanks for following along. On these ENVE 3.4 ARs, the internal rim width is 25mm, so yeah, it plumps up most any tire a bit beyond the printed spec.

    Does your bike have a color-shifting paint job? It looks either blue or teal depending on the angle, or maybe the lighting is what shifted.

    • @TheRidewithBenDelaney
      @TheRidewithBenDelaney  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No, it's just that I was using two cameras and I kinda suck at video editing so I'm not sure how to get the color grading to match. It's kinda a turquoise / light blue.

    Hi what 32c or 33c tire with some tread could you recomend? Vittoria terrano? Gravelkings? ..thanks

    • @TheRidewithBenDelaney
      @TheRidewithBenDelaney  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I prefer Vittoria to Panaracer. I call the Gravelkings Gravelflings because - at least in Colorado - they fling up little pebbles constantly. They're fine tires but I like Vittoria more.

    • @PedroPrego
      @PedroPrego 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheRidewithBenDelaney the saddle I get it, it's supposed to be just for you. The aerobars enve could make their own solution to it. Most likely the interest for some aerobars would be very small. Thanks!

    • @TheRidewithBenDelaney
      @TheRidewithBenDelaney  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@PedroPrego Yeah, ENVE probably could make something that clamps to it... but that would almost certainly ding up the paint. At Unbound Gravel this year, Ivar Slik (who won the 200) had a custom aerobar clamp for his Wilier integrated bar/stem that Wilier made for him.
