I was introduced to stippling through a freind's brother who stippled Wildlife in Missoula, MT. He was quite talented, or so I thought. His renderings of the natural flora and fauna were moving, even at 16 years old. He created post cards and my parents bought a packet of maybe five in the early 70's. Well, gradually, and unceremoniously, I myself grew to embrace an avenue of abstract art. Just tonight, my brain stumbled onto stippling with no provocation. "Where the hell did the notion of stippling come from"? How did it emerge after 50+ decades into the present? Then I found your YT channel and locked in. I thought, "How can I use Stippling in my pursuits"? How would Stippling affect my abstract work? I was so excited I took my lowly Sharpie pen Ultra Fine Point and jumped in to a bastion of discovery. I made an interrupted circle with an errant color wheel and filled it in using your techniques. Stippling is tedious but there is a strange accomplishment of shading and progression I never felt before. I wasn't aggressive like I can be with my work. There seemed to be an encouraging punctuation with each tap of the crappy Sharpie. It offered solace. Now, I'm looking forward to coupling the aggressive nature of what I seek with the potential of adding Stippling to the mix; binding the two, perhaps temporarily, to explore what may emerge. Subbed as a student. Add on...area code 80521.
