Such a beautiful pride. It's such fun to learn about the lions via these videos. I was fascinated to observe the young male's interaction with Dark Mane (Avoca?) how bold he was walking alongside and pushing up to him for their bonding head rub. Well, and that dad allowed it in a way far different than if he were a female... He's taking on his role of protector already. It was fascinating and fun to observe. He will be a great ally and coalition king lion in time. I hope that Dark Mane holds out long enough to have this boy as a coalition partner and hopefully others coming up. Of course there are brothers out there somewhere as well I guess... Hoping for the best for him, always and this new up and comer.

Darkmane is gorgeous he's bigger than his brothers and they're mane is nowhere as large as his. He's done a good job with this Pride his three boys are absolutely gorgeous the one is almost as big as him already. You got to hand it to the lionesses they have done an awesome job with these Cubs. Just got to get them a certain age where none of them will be killed in a takeover situation. It wouldn't surprise me in a takeover situation the boys would go with Darkmane not unheard of.

According to Lauren's commentary he stays more in Djuma to stay out of trouble when the pride goes north to avoid the males in the north and then pushes south towards his brothers where he feels more safe. So i wasnt expecting him to go north with the pride. He doesnt seem to be worried a lot about rival males that much. Im still adamant that they need to treat his paw so he can atleast have a better chance of running and fighting when the day comes. This way he doesnt stand a chance to protect himself.
Most reserves have a no interference policy for natural injuries. Dark Mane has survived for two years this way(or worse) by being smart. Every time it appears Dark Manes' time is up somehow he perseveres. His legacy lives with the sub adults now.. as he has done a good job of raising them.
So if now they treat him (break and set up his leg), he would have to be separated from the pride for many weeks and most likely other males from the outside would take over the pride in the meantime. No easy solutions, I think.
Crazy to not interfere by helping a beautiful lion, while all around is human destruction via canned hunting and habitat loss. Seems like people accept non interference so easily when it’s actually just a rationalization for doing nothing to help. Let’s not kid ourselves.
@@sandarahcatmom9897 or maybe one should understand the issues. Canned hunts are not occurring in the Sabi Sands and tend to be on private reserves away from the Kruger. Recently, the SA gov't has moved to make these hunts illegal. In the areas around the Kruger park there has been a slow movement to increasing the amount of land by converting farmland back to its original form. The lion population in the greater Kruger is strong and vibrant with many articles stating that the number of males is at or near the carrying capacity. Part of reviving these eco-systems is to not interfere in the natural order.
in my opinion, if new males move in and push darkmane out then yea, more than likely the young males will be pushed out as well or form breakaway prides to avoid the new males. and i doubt Darkmane would form a coalition he was already in a coalition 2 brothers just south of him and he may try to rejoin them if he is pushed out if they let him join back

The talamatis are a beautiful pride and they sure love Darkmane.Never underestimate Darkmane he has three sons that will back him up and they are getting bigger.Darkmane is a sweetheart.So gorgeous and so loyal to this pride.This is is family.
A clear look at some of the wondrous creatures in Africa on a peaceful day . I wonder what will become of the lone male who has to survive completely on his own and the older lion with a harem of lionesses who all are soon to be in heat . I've watched so many lion videos recently and all I see is a coalition of young strong lions finding the loner while on their way to take over the pride. Is my imagination going wild or not ??????

I remember this Avoca male-he has the once broken jaw-tends to be a little loose. 🔹So if this Avoca male governs the Talamati pride, solo… 🔸what pride do his two brothers look after? Or are they just off making rounds? 🔹Avoca is 9? How old are the other two males? ♦️And when they mention that Avoca has two “brothers”.. are they actual blood brothers? or just his coalition partners? (Again someone needs to make a chart for me!)
There are in fact his 4 brothers but split in two 2 male coalitions, but 2 them rule I think 2 prides near by (Mohawk and Blondie), while the other 2 are quite far away. Thus sometimes guides talk about 2, as due to proximity they might support each other, but I think it's probably quite some time Dark Mane saw Mohawk and Blondie. So 5 Avocas in total.
Dark Mane Blondie and Mohawk were born in November 2013- are known as Northern Avoca- their 2 older brothers born March 2013 known as Southern Avoca. Dark Mane has never had a broken jaw. He has an injury from a buffalo hunt in 2019. That he walks off his limp after he gets up because it is stiff. He has been with the Talamatis and B and M have been with the Nkuhumas. Blondie has also thought have fathered the Ximungue lioness and fathered her daughter. Currently Blondie and Mohawk have been pushing farther south into Mala Mala and as of a few days ago Dark Mane was also seen in Mala Mala not far from his brothers . Southern Avoca have the Sand River Pride snd Plain Camps Pride.
@@hotbit7327 just one more thing to clarify Dark Mane -Blondie and Mohawk ALL THREE fathered cubs in the Talamati Pride and the Nkuhuma Pride. There are 9 subadults in Talamatis. There are 9 subadults in Nkuhumas and 7 new cubs. They have had these 2 Prides since mid 2018.

He have a coalition. Avoca males. But he spend time by himself with this pride. Blondie and Mohawk are with Nkuhuma pride. It's more dangerous to be caught alone by other males together.

He called many times but untill where I know they were never reunited again. So if Dark Mane is far from Talamati that saved him that time I worry that he would be in danger 😢

If the male Avoca were to be pushed out would his son’s be pushed out too? Would they leave together? Would they form a coalition together?
