you have to go way back to find a better ring technician, skill wise no one could touch him. He has to be one of the best ever in ring smarts. A true craftsman
That would have been a decent fight. But I give it to james Toney. Remember James fought the best during the 90s. He did not stay in middleweight long enough thoe. But one must remember a talented Mike MCcullum James beat. Although Mike was past his prime he was still as skillfull as he was at a very young age.
The worst part of this guys boxing career is that we would never know how he would rank against other middleweights of today. Personally I think he beats most of them anyway, he beat a prime unbeaten Jacobs. I think he would have easily beat GGG on points and even Canelo as well. He has a great ring IQ unlike most defensive fighters nowadays move too much but this guy could be infront of you standing and you still would struggle to hit him. The fact that this guy ended his career unbeaten is alot to be said, in many ways he went the all the way and no one came close to beating him says it all. If only hah he did not had to retire.
Pirog is like sugar Ray Leonard.. Not style wise but he is agile and not offensive minded like the two of them .. He would win against them on points... The only one who has a chance is GGG cause he's not cement footed like canelo but if he chooses to brawl instead of box, GGG will lose on points

martinez vs pirog is the only fight at 160. i'd make sergio a very slight favorite to defend the ring title, but pirog outclasses everyone else at middle, with the possible exception of golo.

So crisp and controlled, nothing wasted. Crazy good footwork he shifts to southpaw and back whenever he wants. Man i wisb he woulda never got hurt.
