I think it's really sweet when his friends are excited to show Mike their favorite dishes. There's something about bonding over food that's so special.
I visited lima about 8 years ago and i still think, its one of the best destinations to enjoy great food, such a great variety and quality of ingredients.
You guys need to take it easy on him! 1) those of you criticizing his camera work: could YOU do any better yourselves? 2) cholesterol is something your body creates as a response to inflammation, NOT something that comes from the food you eat! He exercises so much anyway.
I am so happy that you went to el hornero. I visited the same place with my birth mother when I went to meet my family in Peru. Thank you for all these videos in Peru. Its great reliving the great food and memories while watching your videos.
Dude for some reason when I am watching your videos I feel like a child again playing Mario world and exploring amazing new lands and food.... Love it bud keep it up...
For me I really love Peruvian food not because I come from Peru and it’s my culture it’s because their food is unique in a way along with foods all around the world - love from Peru 💜🇵🇪
Blood sausage = Probably the best thing ever. I'd love to taste the difference between Peruvian Blood Sausage and our own Black Pudding here in Scotland
Col of Cthulhu tried them both. Different spices in Peru make it a little more flavorful (as in stronger taste). But the black pudding from Scotland is also great in its own way!
Sate, honestly just try it :D I can see why some people might not want to try blood sausage (typically, we in the Western world don't consume blood anymore), but haggis is totally different :) The ingredients might not sound too good, but it's just best not to think about it if it bothers you, there's nothing in it that people all over Europe and America don't already eat :) It's a truly amazing dish, full of spices and flavour! Serve it up with a side of turnip and potato, and you've got yourself a traditional Scottish meal :)
Vegetarian s avert your eyes, my food hero is about to go in! The lass is beautiful and knowledgeable. Thank you for sharing this fantastic delicious video Mikey. You're the best!
All that meat looks so good ! 😊 Lomo saltado is fantastic and of course the girl knew what she was doing ! All Peruvians mixed it all, it's the way we eat Lomo saltado ! 💖
I just came to watch Mike eat anticuchos for the first time. This was primarily a street food for me growing up before it became cool and now it's in the menus of fancy restaurants. Eating anticuchos from street stalls was 💯 better. It's on a skewer for a reason and every street stall has their own sauces or aji
Aw, yeah! Peruvian food is the bomb-diggity! Organ meats done right are to die for. I make anticucho at least every couple of months. It's hard finding offal in the US! The stomach and intestines, as well as the kidneys just cry out for a good chimichurri sauce (the green/garlic sauce on the kidney). Happy memories for me, Mikey. Well done!
Love the video Mikey. Unfortunately, as a Peruvian, I'm afraid to tell you that the first place, El Hornero, did not look very authentic. It had some traits that looked the part, but some of the meats and those sauces looked nothing like a what you would get a traditional parillera. I hope this wasn't the last video of your peru trip. There are still some parts of peruvian cuisine that you haven't dwelled too much on yet that I feel are essential for a Peru food trip like: going to a cevicheria to try variants of ceviche, the national dish; some of the more famous deserts/treats like turron or pionono; a hot steamy bowl of caldo de gallina (hen soup); and trying out a traditonal plate of peruvian breakast (chicharron sandwich with all the fixins).
I ate on that second spot when tio Mario first opened as a hole in the wall at the bottom of that building. It is absolutely the best anticuchos in Peru IMO. The gizzards and intestine is so underrated
Great video, everything looks delicious! I usually go to La Tranquera for traditional Peruvian parrilla, they have flavorful, tender beef. Another traditional Peruvian BBQ dish is pollo a la brasa con papitas fritas (Peruvian style rotisserie chicken slowly grilled over flaming charcoal accompanied with potato fries), go to La Granja Azul for this dish.
Mike, FYI, Lomo Saltado has its origins in Chinese Cuisine. This was created initially by first Chinese immigrants in Perú. It was prepared in a WOK and the name saltado is the way it is cooked in the wok, like Chow Men or Chow Fan. So in this case would be Chow Meat.
I'm half Peruvian and I hope one day I get to visit Peru and eat the food. Looking at all the food he eating are the same kind of food my mom makes for me and my siblings almost every dinner.
D Hill It was at the first feast. I heard jazz, but could have been wrong lol. I played jazz (trombone) years ago so it just brought back memories. The other eats he went to I heard other sounds. Jazz just stuck out to me.
Peru just got some much needed height then! Should be an excellent pairing. And the Chinese will learn some tact and basic manners (not slamming them - it's just not part of their culture).
Two pros and cons about this yt channel Pro: •He knows how to eat •Finds good places Cons: •he talks too much where I find him a bit awkward •he’s picky which limits his choice of food. For example doesn’t like veggies AT ALL.

Thank you for all the information . I am taking note of all the places you have visited in Peru . I am hoping to travel to Peru next year mainly to eat and visit Machupicchu.
i love potatoes and rice together! over here in portugal we eat WAY more rice than anywhere in europe (has to do with the times we went to asia for trade reasons and got ourselves hooked on rice and spices) and we also love our potatoes but usually we either have one or the other at home but for some reason in restaurants its very common to have ur main protein served with both rice and potatos at the same time and its so good in my opinion
We are next to you!! You should come to Chile, and try: 1 - Empanadas de pino 2 - Mote con huesillos (dessert - drink) 3 - Completo Italiano y Dinámico 4 - Paila marína 5 - Humitas con ensalada a la Chilena 6 - Pastel de Choclo (also con ensalada a la Chilena) 7 - Marraqueta con palta (avocado) 8 - Asado Chileno 9 - Porotos con riendas, y porotos granados 10 - Cordero al palo Saludos Mike, i love your videos :D ****** try the Lúcuma milk or ice cream for dessert*****
You could be cultured and try different foods or... go to the nearest jack in the box and get like 20 tacos for around 11 dollars. I have this thought every time my parents ask where i want to eat.
Mikey, while I was watching this video a commercial came on for the new season of The Amazing Race, and it struck me that you'd be perfect for TAR. You've got the experience with travel and the airlines. And you seem to be adept at handling the various public transportation systems. Chaufa is my favorite Peruvian food. And honestly one of my top favorite foods in the world. Lomo saltado is bomb the fries make everything pop man! When you said it was too much I was like wait is this really Mike Chen? Is this the guy who eats noodles with Pieces of Gluten In them? Also Tallarin verde is delightful Man.
Mikey, I would love to watch you do a video in Costa Rica! I lived there for about a year and a half when I was young and I loved the food! There was a rice and black bean dish that was phenominal!! Love your videos!!

I wonder if Mike is a coffee drinker, I've never had better coffee than Peruvian organic.
I think he said in some of his videos that he's not a big fan of coffee, he's a matcha guy haha

I ate at the restaurant at the shopping center in Lima. Had the same exact dish, and my lord was it tasty.
Dude for some reason when I am watching your videos I feel like a child again playing Mario world and exploring amazing new lands and food.... Love it bud keep it up...
Mike deserves to be on mainstream tv with all this travelling and good food he eats

Col of Cthulhu my boyfriend keeps trying to make me try blood sausage. And haggis. I'm so scared!
Never had Peruvian Blood Sausage, but I've had Scotish Black Pudding few times, and it's amazing!

Bought tickets to Peru! Wait there Mike, I’ll be there in a couple!
The sweet lady with him is so beautiful.
Well done!

It's a fancy restaurant at least for peruvians so u don't get like the traditional Peruvian BBQ style it's more like in Argentina
It is wonderful to see u in my wonderful Peru and enjoying ur time there.
Been waiting for another Food Tour video! That meat looked amazing! Definitely going to the first place if I ever go to Peru!
I had the pleasure of going to El Hornero a few months before Mikey, well worth the price. Just don't try to eat the whole thing by yourself!
You uploaded this just as I sat down with some food, which is great as your videos made me hungry
I ate on that second spot when tio Mario first opened as a hole in the wall at the bottom of that building. It is absolutely the best anticuchos in Peru IMO. The gizzards and intestine is so underrated
Lomo saltado at Tanta. That is a dish created by chinese in Peru. It is sauteed in a wok and uses siyao, and sometimes kion.
What? She’s lying 😂 no one mixes the lomo saltado rice all over, just her. I never seen anyone do that. 😂

Mike I would have to guess that your wish on the sigh bridge is to find hot pot in Peru!
He made a joke at the end "hey wait where is my Pizza?" so presumably he wished for Pizza. That is the implication anyway.
Lima has so many good restaurants everywhere you look and all kinds of food you probably need to stay for a while over there...

Peru has 1.4 million Chinese immigrants. We have a damn lot Chinese-Peruvians. Look out for the term Tusan (that’s how we call the mix :))
Peru just got some much needed height then! Should be an excellent pairing. And the Chinese will learn some tact and basic manners (not slamming them - it's just not part of their culture).
Well please do. They will be beautiful.
Glad to see you branching out brother!
Your channel is growing so fast and it makes me so happy!!!
Disclaimer: We do not mix everything in the lomo saltado
Eso no lo harás tú. Yo mezclo todo y la gente que conozco también. Qué peruano no mezcla todo?
You are right no mixing lomo and rice for me maybe bew generation is doing it now....
Confirmo. no mezclen todo en el lomo saltado. En una cucharada, puede ser, pero mezclarlo todo no
Es la primera vez que veo eso
