Joe Orsborn I have never seen that, we will combine the barley in late August early September then bale the straw and use it for bedding for our animals. The cows do eat some of the straw but that’s not what it’s intended for!
Yes, a fresh planted field followed by the packer always looks great! Did you add grass seed with the Brillion packer or just use it as a cultipacker? It's a 520 that has the #45 loader on it? Otherwise, Dad stripped all the loader brackets off the JD50 just to plant and take hay off.
Just used the brillion as a cultipacker, our plan is to seed hay in the fall. Our theory is if we have to spray for weeds, it would stunt the under seeding so we’ll just wait till after harvest! Dad’s done that before with success! Also Dad loves both his 50’s but there’s one more classic yet to be shown!
