My great uncle was an oil-company charter pilot before WWII. He was drafted into the Army and sent to fly B-24s over Germany. They recalled him to active duty to fly B-29s during the Korean War. After that he figured that he might as well just stay on active duty if they were going to recall him to fight in every war anyway. He ended his thirty-year Air Force career as a colonel, flying B-52s over Vietnam. I don't know what the odds were that he'd eventually be shot down after flying dozens of bombing missions in three wars but they they must have been high. He never was shot down though. When he retired, he opened up a ladies dress and hat shop with his wife and never flew a plane again. I guess he wanted about as peaceful of a retirement as he could get.
A women's hat and dress shop is far from "PEACEFUL". War zones would be quieter, and less likely to get injured in.😂😂

Apple is greedy, but Google is way worse, so no Android for me. My daughter just wanted to download the Google Translate app for her iPhone, and I told her to look at what permissions it wants first: Location, Contacts, Search History, Usage Data, Other Data, Contact Info, User Content, Identifiers, Diagnostics. Other than Diagnostics, those are all a massive breach of trust and privacy, and unbelievable overreach. So yeah, Jingles, you can think what you want about Apple, and I don't subscribe to their stuff either, but do be aware that Google is an order of magnitude worse, so if you use an Android phone, your accusation rings very, very hollow.

Yo ho ho!!!

GOOD 🐈

17:50 We can most definitely hear her Jingles 😂
Hearing your story about your pistol malfunction reminded me of a day out at the Sheriff's Office firing range. We use the Remington 870 12-gauge shotgun, and we had a deputy step up to shoot. Well, there's a big lug at the front under the barrel that holds the entire weapon together - and this guy hadn't checked that it was tightened down.
Long story short, he pulls the trigger - and the barrel flies three meters downrange.
Nobody was hurt, apart from sore ribs from laughing so hard.
Yes jingles, we are in a bit of a grey area. We are civilians working as civil servants for the RFA that's owned by the MOD, on Sometimes armed ships to help the navy's who are crown servants.
AB deckhand still in training and the food is sometimes alright 😅👍
A tortoise just casually doing 9.4k damage carry in background lol
I had to rewind the video a couple of times since i stopped listening to the old man because i was focussed on watching the replay. Kind of a shame to not have its own video. Especially when assuming that this player is probably an average joe who appeared to be sweating bullets and not a unicum judging from the shaky reticle movements and fluffed shots.
Here's a suggestion related to Bearcat's question:
Rule no. 1: Just don't be a douche bag.
Rule no.2: No services or goods are allowed that treat employers and customers alike as cattle.
Megalithic monument: a giant paddle at the place where Ubisoft's HQ used to be, accompanied with a stone that reiterates those rules in runes or hieroglyphs with the accompanying text: "Woe to those who tresspass against my will."
That’s heavily open to interpretation…
'Behind the 7th planet' 😂😂😂
JINGLES ONCE AGAIN PROVIDING A FRIENDLY VOICE TO START OUR WEEK ❤
First Rule: Why are you not mining Salt?
Second Rule: Stop asking what happens when we run out of salt! The Thunder Warriors asked that......
''Who?''
Exactly.
The detailed information in Harpoon came from Larry Bond's six years in the U.S. Navy (four on destroyers) and two years in the Naval Reserve Intelligence Program. I'm sure he also learned from Tom Clancy when they played the tabletop version of the game before the collaborated on the book Red Storm Rising.
16:43 "without Flambass this could have been a balanced game" love that!
Jingles, I can highly recommend a visit to Normandy. While you're there do visit the War Museum in Caen. As a young lad it made quite the impression to me.
Additionally, also consider a visit to La Coupole (Saint-Omer), where the Allies did manage to blow up half the mountain yet the bloody bunker brazenly baldy and boldy flipped the bird to the allies and remained intact. It was a launch facility for the V2 rockets.
As anybody in any military should know, make friends with your supply people. They can either make your life great, or make it suck. Just like the pay clerks, don't piss those guys off either.
I used to have an SK (stores clerk) as a roommate. All kinds of stuff ended up in my house (he was renting from me). for example, he was required to "dispose of" a lot of paper plates and plastic utensils. We had nice chinette paper plates for over a year. All because they needed the space in the warehouse, and it was either take it home or throw it away.
Aside from SCP, there is also this friction concept called BACKROOM. It has its own universe and looks quite interesting.
It's a trap! 🦑
Down with the Flu, not just a cold, the real Influenza. Sucks. Glad I have your soothing Voice to lull me into sleep again.
"God help me if I had to rely on one of these". Better make that first shot count.
Of the German P1 we said "8 warning shots and 1 deadly throw." More if you disassemble it first.
Statue of Jingles near a salt mine which leads into the ocean :D
Finally. Jingles uses the term 'obtain'. As in purloined, acquired, found, borrowed, discovered, nicked. 😂😂😂😂😂
My grandfather in the US Navy during WWII preferred the term "liberated". He "liberated" quite a bit of official USN gear as he neared retirement in the 50s.
@@bryanharrington2736 Good one, good one! 👍 😁😁
I spent so many hours playing Harpoon back in the day. I had a couple of friends in college who actually submitted the idea of a Falklands scenario pack, including specific Falkland Islands War scenarios but a bunch of “What-ifs” as well. I actually got to see the letter that they received back that said while they loved the ideas, the map projection used for the game would not work for areas near or south of the Equator.
There’s a video somewhere of an interview with Tom Clancy where he talks about visits he and Larry Bond (Harpoon’s creator) had with some nice men in dark suits about the details and information used in “Red Storm Rising”, their novelization of the main Harpoon scenario. Larry showed them the open-source books he’d compiled the data from, and they basically said “Oh, OK. But could you please let us see the next one BEFORE you print it?” 😂
I dont know if you'll actually see this but here goes: thanks for offering up this content and all your content for free here on youtube. I know its getting harder to het by off what you make as a content creator and i wish I could do more. Just a big thanks to the poorer side of humanity for giving us something to look forward too at the start or end of the day
The monument should be the ship you returned to Earth in, crashed nose first in to the ground in a traditional Jingles landing. We'll set it up in South Africa to honour your childhood.
As for the rules, I think the first is that no military may posses aircraft so no air force and no carriers.
For the second one we'll say that all households must have at least one cat or dog present.
Spent 10 years of my time in the dutch navy and even we knew the 'Brown Rover' lol
Two religious tenets... 1) Do no harm to others via your actions or inactions, and 2) Do no harm to others via your speech and words. A monument... A park shaped like a flower, with real flowers growing to color the various parts of it and a marble plaque in the center on which those two rules would be written. Who needs ten commandments when two can cover the essentials? They can be pared down to one if you combine them: Do no harm to another via your words or deeds. Where would it be? Since I'm an alien from outer space, it'd have to be where I first landed.
Thank you Mr. J. and Akizuki! The last tank battle came down to the last second! 😮😂
Good Morgan.
Good old QnA
Boots wise I had Altbergs when I was in, not cheap but amazing boots. Beat the crap out of the combat highs.
Due to work now I wear hi tec stealth force 8.0 ct cps again not cheap but comfortable as anything and last me around 12months+.
If you don't want or need the composite toe and plate(safety shoe) There is a std option for less money, they also do them in a 6.0 6" angle size mine are 8" and protect the ankle.
Lowa are also a great boot but due to price never had a pair. For walking in the hills I'll be looking at a pair of lowas next.
Listening to you tell your stories is always amusing. This time you mentioned your interest in fencing. I never fenced but I did study Kendo (Japanese sword discipline) for a few years.
I was comfortable with a sword in my hands. I was a pretty good shot too, but haven't held a firearm in decades.
My worst self inflicted injuries came in the various kitchens I worked in over the decades. So many burns, and cuts I lost count.
I suppose that having lived as long as we have, there's quite a few common experiences behind us.
The Lady Akizuki was vocal today. I hope you were "Johnny on the spot" with her treats and scritches. And give the Lady Hjusie some too.
You and Rita have the best day you can have, considering it's Monday.
🐈🐈⬛👑✌️🖖
I would also like to recommend Snow Runner. It can be frustratingly fun to get stuck on the back roads. Best simulated water, mudd & snow physics I have seen in any game.
Microprose titles Birth of the Federation, and M1 Tank Platoon II (I was a tanker) are two of my all time favorite games. Glad to learn Mircroprose is re-doing some of their library. Looking forward to the B17 game now! Thanks!
My father-in-law was a navigator in a B-17 on the Schweinfurt raid. He did a total of 42 missions during WWII, between his first tour with the 8th Air Force, and then later in the 15th Air Air Force in Italy.
For boots in the US the best I ever had were a pair of Go Devil. They were developed by the 4th ID? One of the Army Infantry Divisions anyway. So comfortable. Vortex lined. Tough leather uppers. Steel shank. All that. I still have my pair 30+ years later.
I learn Morse over 50 years ago when I was in the sprogs. The small handheld unit was easy to use but the ship mounted was a pain and we didn’t get much practice with them. Operated CW for years on amateur radio but Max’d out at 20wpm. Never used paddles, key only. World the world using CW on 80m through to 10m.
I come to collect my toll once again Jingles: Have you thought about the ships you'd preserve?
Jingles, if you do go to Normandy, better start planning quickly! Accomodations might run out soon or get expensive quickly. I had a look at the 3 parks we're staying at/stayed at and they're full already! My dad and I will be going for the 3rd time this June. We've move alongside the coastline every time and now we'll be staying near Omaha beach. If I hear you say you're going, for what it's worth I'll send you my tips and experiences!
i was absolutely oblivious to the "Masters of the Air" miniseries. I just had a free account for 3 months because i also refuse to give apple any money.
My intention was watching Ted Lasso then i switched to watch "Greyhound" again, and there comes a preview of the series.
Very good quality, it is structured as The Pacific and Band of Brothers for all of us who liked that kind of stuff
13:05 in case you didn't catch it, the 7th planet in the solar system is Uranus
Overlord rules: Star Trek (pre-reboot) is core curriculum in schools. New calendar, 6 day weeks (4 day work week), 30 day months (5 weeks each), extra days are an extra holiday week. Being a cruel salt-mine overlord you could instead consider the French revolutionary calendar which had more work days, but then it's French isn't it so...no. Monument: Main temple to the deified Boo, classical peristyle temple with a 100 foot tall solid gold Boo in the middle. Jingles is merely the favoured servant of the almighty and eternal Boo.
I have a pair of Red Wings boots that are currently 15 years old. Tread wore out about 5 years ago but I dropped them off at a store and for $80 they retread them. Been going strong ever since and the leather still hasn't worn out.
About Harpoon, one of the developers worked with SEATAG while he was serving in the navy. That had a classified version. Later versions of Harpoon was used extensively as a simulator in naval academies.
Second that with the pro-boots, back when they were the standard "cold weather" boot for the army.
Goretex, thinsulate lined, didn't need breaking in and comfy as all hell.
It's a shame they're no longer issued, they're waaay better than the current alternatives.
Akizuki awakes …. Must announce her presence to all, especially us adoring fans. Hello my Queen!! 😻
"Harpoon" was a Tom Clancy child and he was investigated for it's accuracy though he was teaching at Annapolis. There's a reason "Hunt for Red October" is the only one of his books published y the Naval Institute Press
Co-author was Larry Bond iirc, who did all the work and contributed to the research for the Harpoon game. Could be tedious to play, but was immersive as all get out. I did at one time have a first printing of that book. Oh, well.
That story about the pistol contest, and your Browning falling apart, made me laugh out loud! Another terrific Mingles with Jingles!
I love these type of Mingles episodes. It's like having your very own Uncle Albert from Only Fool. " During the war..." 😊❤
Army vet here, if you want boots, Nike has a pair of field boots that I love. Kinda expensive but I wore them for my deployment and loved them. Got about 3-4 years of everday use out if them. They are a bit heavier but more durable then the Nike garrison boot.
I love Sabaton. I only discovered them last year but I ended up buying six of their albums already. The Last Stand is my favorite album of theirs so far.
Some things never change. My dad was in the RAF fencing team in the 50s. Unlike usual fencing this included rifle and bayonet as a category. He was with the team at Earl's Court, but got beaten by a Navy petty officer, although I doubt he'd been trained specifically to beat my dad.
I really like the Foundation TV series. I know it's not strictly adhering to the plot of the first book, but it works well fleshing out the world Asimov built. Lee Pace is amazing in it.
My uncle, God bless him, was a B-17 pilot during WW2. Flew out of North Africa, Sicily, Italy.
Rule 1: All complaints against the Great Gnome Overlord's rule will be directed to the Salt Mines office of employment. Complaints will result in a manditory employment opportunity in the salt mines.
Rule 2: Salt mine employees are not permitted to complain about working conditions. Such actions are detrimental to morale.
Rule 3: Beatings will continue until morale improves.
I think placing a giant bronze statue of our dear leader, the Great Gnome Overlord, The Mighty Jingles, in the center of every town is a great idea. Obey the gnome.
To the all mighty gnome overlord,
Masters of the Air is available to watch from certain eyepatched baylike Swedish service providers!
Glad I could help,
Your loyal minion.
Jingles + Snowrunner = endless possibility of "Jingles Landings"
Jingles. The monument would, of course, have to be of you running away as the xenomorph from Alien Isolation chases you... 😂
😂😂😂😂😂
Hi Jingles! Loved you in "Jingles all the way"! What do you mean, that wasn't you?
Here's a topic of conversation for you: what happens when an online game dies? You know, when the developers get so greedy, everyone starts deserting it until only a few whales are left to assert their superiority over each other's wallets.
I've been playing a phone game for the last few years and it got taken over by Zynga, a company known for its gambling titles. The game I play is Empires and Puzzles, a match three type game with a base to set up, resources, barracks, mines, farms, you know the deal.
What Zynga have done is to throw the balance book out of the window, create ever more highly sought after characters that you have to have to compete. Not so much power creep as power rush. To hive you an idea, the stats of the latest and greatest can be boosted to approximately double those of the original 5* heroes.
In your experience, where does this all end up?
Hope I find you and the cats in good health.
Yours, Gilles Steeleneuve (a character name I first used for a Paladin in the original Diablo)
Whales spend money in order to curbstomp normal players, not to compete against other whales. So when the normal players ditch the game, the whales soon follow, and with their main source of revenue cut off, the company shuts down the game.
Jingles...just drop your war thunder replay files into the replay folder in your steam directory (Steam Apps->Common->War Thunder->Replays). Then you can select the file in question in game from the replay drop down menu. Problem solved.
If Jingles ever takes over the world he will erect (hehe) a giant statue of something and then misidentify it and call it by the wrong name for the rest of his life.
If I may recommend a boot, the Cincinnati by Keen is damned near indestructible. Super comfortable. I like to replace the insoles (insert your favorite here) and prefer LockLaces to standard laces. Has a real Midwest Leather Daddy vibe going for it, too. 😏
Finding an alternative way to watch an Apple TV show is TIGHT!! 😂😂
Calling Akizuki a greedy cow.....that is going to cost you Jingles.....I bet she is plotting her revenge now😁
i think the last two match were exciting.
Thanks for the stories uncle Jingles.
Tipner Ranges maybe? Stirling SMG, loved that gun
That was a lot of fun. Thanks Jingles!!
Pity Jingles, I got the 9 mm UZI, was handy, precise enough and very reliable !
Jingles wanted to avoid the SOUTH ARMAGH SNIPER ! XD
watched the series Masters of the Air, and that mission you were talking about, it almost looks like the lone bomber squadron that went out seemed almost a decoy so that the other two that were supposed to be going out at the same time could have a better success rate with resources being used to chase, and obliterate the lone squadron (edit: a friend of mine gave me both his dress boots and daily wear boots after he did his time in the Canadian Army and those lasted me seven years. the winter set ended up being a good a good pair using with warm socks as i worked outside in -45C weather with them)
Damn, the story of you poor browning, i love my hi power, had to do a full rebuild on it recently, I was shooting in a competition and the slide jammed, a piece of the firing pin retaining plate broke of and got into the slide,
While I had it apart I removed the mag safe system and installed a combat trigger, 😄
17:50 you can hear her trill for attention 😂
Thanks
I feel your pain concerning the clapped out Hi-Power. Love the 1911 design from a historic and aesthetic standpoint, but they don’t function reliably unless meticulously maintained. Thats why my EDC is a Walther PPQ. 😜
What I want to know, is how the observers reacted to that pistol shooting event. Because the first time it jams, you go "Huh".... then "hehe...". Then properly laugh at the third jam in a row. Then probably lose it when it falls apart in the guy's hand.
Three-Sixty Pacific or some other games... Previous/older radar and sensor spec are well know and even declassified. Procurement requirements and processes, in the "West", are relatively open. Militaries not really hiding stuff like: our new craft can detect target X miles away and engage it with high hit/kill probability X miles away, even in coldest cold war periods. Deterrence and s**t exist, can be BS too, but still give second-guessing for opposition. With knowledge of past weapon system and new/next spec requirements and with some thought put-in can make educated guess and with some luck will be spot on specs.
Answering more than 5 questions? Who are you and what have you done to the real jingles!
Asking a Navy guy about Boots?.... Now that's funny. Don't they just wear slippers on the ship? You know, to match the smoking jackets?
Jingles was a good shot irl. Hard to believe after watching him play lol
I've seen the B17 game of which you speak. It's called The Mighty 8th Redux and I saw it on Taff in Exile's TH-cam channel and it is amazing.Improved graphics and more realistic bombing. A lot better than the one I played back in the day but just as much fun!
One of the Danish Navy ships, "The Polar Bear", was also nicknamed "The Brown Bear" due to similar reasons...
I am now your videos up! Long weekend dealing with rail strikes from the coach company side.
Harpoon started as a tabletop wargame. It's very detailed.
Harpoon was written and published as a table top miniature game first. The author was a USN veteran. Evidently he put a bit more into it than he should have.
As an ex forces (army) I loved the SLR and also the SMG to a point but the navy weren't the only ones who had issues with the Browning High Power. The ratio of stoppages to firing was dismal and don't get me started with the SA80 Lego rifle...thankfully it works a lot better now..!
Sure thing..!
Find me as @Bobhopkins
Master Jingles, (retired USN here) If all the "Pubs" closed in England, find a good "Tavern" 😎😎
I really liked "The Secret World." But like every MMO, it really only fun with you either have friends to play with or a clan to become friends with. I could not find a group that wanted me, so eventually i tired of soloing everything and just quit. But it was a good game.
The moment Rear Admiral Jingles says i'm not paying the devil / apple for masters of the air, you know he's became a pirate.
Jingles, Strategically Transferring Equipment to an Alternate Location to get better boots. The benefits of being a Supply Officer.😏
yea... Harpoon was an amazing game. I am still looking for a replacement. Hunting subs or intercepting Backfires over the GIUK gap was a blast. And that was my first taste of breaking the bastion. Unwinable scenario for me. There was so much deep in this game, so many little, tiny details which allowed me to exploit a weakness. I also remember this game had a totally broken random number generator :D Almost as bad as the first UFO game.
Two rules - Your stuff is your own and not beholden to anybody unless you give it freely, and you have a right to speak your mind and say as you will (but it does not protect you from the A@@ kicking that may ensue) The standing (erection? hehehe) tribute should be a half (full or empty is up to debate) pint and the inscription "Always leave a little for absent mates and the Angels"
My Amiga 1200 is sitting in the bottom of the wardrobe, with an accelerator and hard drive. Some great games on it.
LOL - funny you should mention that about 'Harpoon' using 'coded/classified' phrases - my brother heard me parotting a phrase from that game and stopped him in his tracks with a "What and where did you hear that?!"
For what it's worth:

I was in the Air Force and I resemble that remark. 🤣
Regarding Sabaton, I agree that their music is good but they did play for Putin's motorcycle gang on the Crimean peninsula in 2015. So they are currently sanctioned and abandoned by a whole host of organisations in their home country. Some of the band members were also somewhat 'unlucky' when they tried to think about how to respond about the situation between Russia and the Ukraine.
In response to bearcat.
Rule 1: Be Vigilant
Rule 2: Behave
Monument: You dressed in rear admiral uniform with an enormous paddle(with air holes drilled into it and the odd screw and nail punched through it) in one hand and Hans blaster from starwars in the other. Akizuki and juzi perched on each shoulder. Akazuki with a katana over her shoulder (i have thought about this way too much) and juzi with a sten gun over her shoulder. In the background: A TOG tank with the hatch open to reveal Eddy as he salutes with his right hand (dressed in his $&!+ shirt) and holding boo in his left arm (boo also saluting).......seems legit.
Things that are only available on apple is what privateering is for... Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum, Jingles!
About time to… been waiting for the upload from 08:00 … I hope everyone and cats are well
Jingles monument should be a taller version of Nelson's Column, with Rear Admiral Jingles on top.
RULE 1/ Onions should be banned from all recipes.
RULE 2/ when addressing the Mighty Jingle, you must give the Rimmer salute.
RULE 3/ gendercide to all APPLE employees and users. (I may have gone a bit overboard with that one) lol
Remember jingles! You need to equip grenades on Thule! (I may have been watching Daemon hunter videos) 😊
Good day jingles o7. for anything scp i would highly recommend the youtube channel: The Volgun, great SCP readings. mostly horifying. but some wholesome aswel
This is the one listen too.
