I stayed at Inn of Chicago about a year ago, and got it for $18 on a Saturday night on hotwire, I had the same experience you did, I'm glad I only paid $18 for it.
I was just there in Chicago this past week for Vacation for my Birthday. I stayed at the Courtyard Marriott off of Hubbard Street and State Street. Saw Millennium park and saw the Trump Building where the River walk is and saw your Hotel The Club Quarters River Hotel.
If you are ever in Schaumburg, IL you should eat at Pilot Pete’s in the Schaumburg Regional Airport. In addition to plane spotting, it’s a great location to go railfanning since the Metra passes right near the airport. The food is pretty good, too.
Ive actually stayed here back in 2008 believe it or not. I come here once a month or so, but I'm in another hotel in Chicago as I write this comment. (the Palmer House Hilton) And to think I almost stayed at the Grant Park Best Western until I saw your review video from there. So thanks for having me avoid that hotel.
That's a palace compared to my stay at the Fort Dearborn Hotel over on LaSalle St (1975). It was a hotel that Amtrak used for passengers with missed connections. I see it's just an office building now, hope they killed all the cockroaches...yes I did leave the lights on all night and had the joy of the EL rumbling past. The TV antenna was a coat hanger and air freshener was Raid!!
The Elevator Channel that's an HVAC system not a P tag… And you're right… That's the island air AC unit… And that compressor is kind of overheating I mean that's an HVAC system… Not a PT AC system… And you're right… That's the island air AC unit… And that compressor is kind of overheating
I can remember the sound bite from Oprah 35 years ago... "Guests of the Oprah Winfrey Show stay at the Inn of Chicago... just steps from Chicago's Magnificent Mile!"
Man the room seems to be falling apart but still not anywhere near as bad as that Peachtree Inn one
To the exit sign enthusiasts, 0:13, a very rare Fire Escape sign.

The light fixtures in the hallway are the same ones in my kitchen

I stayed at the ACME hotel in Chicago a few years ago, and it was excellent! Clean and stylish.
1:18 something falls from the top
It is an ascend collection member which is owned by choice hotels
ascent to another choice then. that room was horrible

Honest review! Like it. I was a bit disappointed for the price and quality but overall a good location and building has historical value.
The location is pretty much the only good thing about this place, it's actually located quite perfectly
Maybe stay at one of the Hamptons next time you visit Chicago. The Courtyard is also a great place to stay, although it's a bit expensive.
I bet the A/C is intentional. They set it to some temp and then the guest only has an on/off switch for control.
I was thinking the same once I settled into the room a bit. Pretty cheesy.
I see that at some hotels too. I don’t understand why.
Saving money on electric bill.

@@ArisBuliteanu I hear that some IslandAire PTACs has gas heating too
Yay! - Time to feel again as though I'm on tour, checking into crummy mid-range rooms...
Ok I will see it when it comes out
I stayed @ that hotel in 2000. It was a real dump back then!
Where's the Inn in Chicago in Chicago because I see the Courtyard Marriott next to it off of what Street?
Imagine getting a midnight snack
It's a historical landmark. Built in 1928
Though this building is 90 years old and has been renovated in 2006, it needs a full renovation
This is EXACTLY like Inn at the Peach tree's just worse though.. I would've checked out of there. How about you Jacob?
No tripadvisor link?
How would you maneuver a wheelchair between the dresser and the wall? Talk about a fire hazard. That AC is a joke! Great review though.
Mack Pines I wonder if it’s the same with the handicapped accessible rooms
I would pay to see that.
that dresser could have fit on other side of desk. if desk wasnt attached to it? there was room for it there
Look's like an ok room:) ac unit is crazy though.
I will not be housed next to Voltage Distribution!!
I gotta say... I always laugh because almost every video starts with "allllllright"
Brewstew has nothing in common with the elevator channel. But one thing. They both start their videos with “alright”
....at least there's no roaches like the Radisson in Chelmsford (MA).
I can remember the sound bite from Oprah 35 years ago... "Guests of the Oprah Winfrey Show stay at the Inn of Chicago... just steps from Chicago's Magnificent Mile!"
send this video to her with this comment in bold. ( your comment) i remember that from days past as well.
Er that’s almost right. They stay at at The Omni Hotel of Chicago, not the Inn of Chicago. The Omni is pretty damn awesome.
@@BlownMacTruck Way back it was the Inn of Chicago... I promise that's right. I'm talking WAY back!
@@Dana_Danarosana I'm pretty sure you're thinking of Jenny Jones, which DID put guests there.
You said you had a good deal on the room--what booking site do you use in planning travel? Does your employer pay for travel expenses?
As their web site says, "WELCOME TO THE INN OF CHICAGO PROXIMITY AT IT'S BEST." I'm sure its really grate. ;-)
Chicago's version of The Inn at the Peachtrees?
Great Video!:)
Did you film the elevators at this hotel?
They are Westinghouse with Dewhurst.
YIKES! I'd be raising all sorts of heck. Looked at their website and saw TA reviews. I'll be avoiding this place.
Also when is your next trip report video?
Next week. I was staying here before the trip started ;)
Room 1419 Tour 0:32
Nice! I used to live there
It‘s okay but the ac is weird.
shower has enough pressure. new mattress will help the bed.
The shower pressure explains all of the mould and water damage on the walls.
