  • A quick play & walk-around of a Bubble Trouble (1992) arcade game. Bubble Trouble was only sold in Japan and is a sequel of Golly! Ghost!, which was released in USA. This is a standard Japanese UR Golly! Ghost! cabinet that had a Bubble Trouble conversion kit installed, and uses the same Namco System 2 main and driver PCBs.
Video of a US-built sit-down Golly! Ghost! machine:

Thanks for sharing this. Used to love the original but knew there was a sequal but couldn't find anything on the game other than it was set under water with sucked treasure, no images let along video footage. This is great, cheers.

Hi Propcycle. I found your channel while looking for pictures of the background scenery used in Bubble Trouble. i enjoyed your video very much and found it very informative. I hope you won't mind that I have used a small amount of gameplay footage from your video to show a comparison between the arcade cab and an emulation, and a few seconds of gameplay from your Golly! Ghost! video too. I am not a youtuber by any stretch of the imagination and have made the video for informative purpose only. I will link back to both videos.
I also have a request to make. I have been trying to reproduce the dynamic background of Bubble Trouble for emulation and have been unable to find any pictures. Your video was the only place that I have found a reasonable image and have been able to make a working proof of concept. When my video is published shortly I will send you a link so you can see. I wonder if you might be able to take some high quality static photographs of the diorama in your cab from a single straight facing view showing the full scene and the on/off states of each of the dynamic props? I would be very grateful for your assistance. Kind regards.

@propcycle I need some help with an arcade machine, will you help me? I only can write here because google discontinued the very well hidden message button's functionality because of "no interest"....
I got a time crisis 2 deluxe with 50" pioneer projection monitor. And one of it lost the game signal. I was just watching the demo, and the picture faded out...first I thought that the monitor driver board died, but not, it's alive. When i push buttons on the control panel i can bring up the OSD menu, and it works like it should. But I can't figure out how the game signal gone. The cable is OK, i crosslinked them. The game panels are ok, tried them one-by-one on the working side. Everything seems ok, but still not working. Without electrotechnical knowledge i can't do any more by myself. Can you give me some tips what to check?
    Thanks!

I wanted to comment on your most recent post to see if I can maybe ask for your assistance. I saw that you repaired a Sega Arcade 50" that had burn in. I'm in the same boat, but as you indicated in your video - I can't find a replacement tube. Can you please help?? Please feel free to send me a message.

The video has info about how to find them. You have to find an old RPTV to scrap for the tubes. They are effectively not available new. Nobody has made them in a decade.

Can it be any brand RPTV or does it have to be the same brand as the arcade? The arcade I have is a Star Wars Trilogy deluxe with a Toshiba Model P503SGH.

Toshiba, in the time period mentioned in the video's description only. The RPTV will have the date of manufacture on the back. Hitachi from the same period will also work, but you have to swap tubes out of the liquid coupling chambers, which I show at the beginning of that video. don't look for other brands or build dates outside that timeframe, the tubes probably wont work.

So after further investigation, I found that the lenses in my arcade look to have been worked on previously as two of them are Delta 36 and one is a Delta 77. The Delta 77 has a Mfg. date of 1997. I have found some parts that are have Delta 77 listed on a Toshiba 50". My question is if the parts I found show for a Delta 77, will the tubes underneath be the same? The parts are coming from a tv that was built in 1994.

As long as it has P16- or 180D- tubes, try it. Donor's lenses are to be ignored/discarded.

That's really interesting you own that. I never got to see the actual diorama of the game before.

I found the lights for the Golly Ghost at n automotive store. The ones I got are a little too bright for the game, but they work...
