My intuition told me do not be stingy on the amp, or I would not want to play. Just grabbing a cheap Fender Squire does a nice job of getting the ability to practice technique. I have learned a general guideline for string height at the 12th fret: High E: 1.5mm - 2.0mm (approximately 1/16" to 1/8") Low E string: 2.0mm - 2.5mm (approximately 1/8" to 3/32") The way the bridge is designed on a Squire, the action screws can easily loosen up and disappear if you are not mindful. They do sell feeler gauges for the 12th fret, I think next time I buy a guitar I might call ahead and see if the guitar tech can spare a few minutes to point out the differences of bridges. I learned single coils are generally brighter, yet my intuition also tells me so many pedals can change the sound such that it really depends on your song catalog. I would prefer an action I never have to think about getting out of adjustment, yet I know trying different string gauges requires adjust the action. Guitar is anything but boring once you get curious. Someone did set the action up higher in the middle, it is up to preference I am told. An action is made up of several small bars, whether or not the screw settings effect picking, I am not sure if one screw higher than the other angles the string to favor a down or up pick I am not sure. Have fun.
Okay, I totally agree with your advice. But I have to ask what kind of amp or pedal i's giving you that awesome tone of distortion at the very beginning? I'm using a similar distortion tone on a song I'm currently writing, but the sound I've been searching for, that I hear in my head, has eluded me... until I heard your tone. Just wondering if that's something you can share, LOL This instrument is amazing! You can find inspiration and ideas from everywhere and anywhere and anyone else if you pay close enough attention. Thanks again
Thanks! I use the built in effects in my Katana head and cab. It's even a standard preset! I'm very impressed with the sound of these solid state amps. Never heard anything like it. 😄
@@guitarmastery Wow. That is very cool. I also realize the player has a large impact on how the sound from the amp (and edfects) is translated to the listener. I will definitely be checking out these Katanas. Thank you for sharing... and for being so active and informative with your channel.
