Where's My Utopia? is the artistic step forward that Yard Act needed after a strong but generally unoriginal debut. The Overload laid the groundwork for a band that could potentially do amazing things, and Where's My Utopia? feels like they are finally properly building upon that potential. While Yard Act's latest album certainly won't be for everyone, a newfound sense of energy and legitimate creative growth result in a genuinely great record.
Good review. I saw them live last night (for the 3rd time - sometimes its sweet being from the UK) and I know it's a bit of a clichè but they really need to be seen in a live environment to be fully appreciated. They're just incredible.
Yeah they actually did a performance of We Make Hits on a Late Night show here in the states (Jimmy Kimmel I think?) and the pure energy of that performance really sold me on the hype of the album. Thank you for watching!
