I've seen a couple armature videos on the Taurus 942 and was excited to find one posted by the very professional 22plinkster. It was an excellent review and I was extremely delighted by his good recommendation and report. I placed an online order for a black on black 22LR version of the Taurus 942 last week and is scheduled to be delivered to my FFL dealer tomorrow. Oh Boy, Oh Boy, I've got some pesky tin cans and 1-liter water filled plastic soda bottles that need to be taught a lesson.
Great review. I am all about Taurus. Lifetime warranty for anyone who legally owns the firearm. Priced right and dependable. I own the .22 mag. Great chipmunk management tool. Also, very handy as an ankle carry or in driver seat proximity, to respond to a potential carjacker. 8 very fast shots, mine loaded with 45 gr Hornady Defense loads, ballistic tip. And the best part, beside a super firearm to introduce others to the shooting sports. The cost of plinking is a heck yes, reality of the times! 🍀😷🎯👍🇺🇸
The first revolver I owned after I retired was a Taurus 66, 357, 6:inch barrel. Great gun, great accuracy, etc. wished I had never sold it, the second a Taurus 94, 22 lr, 3 inch barrel. I have now replaced the sold model 66 with a newer model 66, 4 inch barrel. I have just ordered the model 942, stainless, 22 lr., 3 inch barrel. I have a Ruger P89, 9 mm for over 24+ years, great gun. Good vlog, thanks.
I own the predecessor of this revolver... The Taurus Model 94. It's a 9 shot .22lr. I've found it to be very reliable and a ton of fun to shoot! Great review! Now, I'm interested in adding the 942 to my collection!
My wife carries a 2” Taurus in .44 special and loves it. I wouldn’t want to be on the leaking end of it. Thanks for the great videos. It must consume a tremendous amount of time to make such good quality videos.
Same way I feel about my various Charter Arms snubbies, Like them all but the 44 BullDog is my favorite. Have several Taurii in semi, but not enough range time yet to depend on them fully.
A lot of old school revolver fan boys get threatened by Taurus. They are no means the very best but they give a good product for significantly cheaper than American made premium brands. They get the job done and make interesting revolvers to get more market share. Have they made a bad revolver? Sure but they have a lifetime warranty and every manufacturer has made a bad revolver they had to fix. The rerelease of the Python comes to mind. Give Taurus revolvers a try if you haven’t already, I own 3 and love em!
We've been using a Taurus six inch .357 for USPSA revolver class since about 1994. Untold tens of thousands of rounds with no malfunctions of any kind.
7:50 In general, Ruger and S&W revolvers both rotate counterclockwise and Colts rotate clockwise. Be sure you know for sure with your particular firearm, because it will prove useful during a partial reload and should have already been pressure tested during training...
I got the black 22 WMR 3 inch last week. It cost me $311 with shipping insurance and a $20 transfer fee. Shoots accurate as far as I can tell with my not-the-steadiest hands. Went bang every time. Shot about 300 rounds of few different brands with no issues. Only got to use the chrono with the CCI Maxi Mag 40 grain. Averaged about 1130 FPS out of that 3 inch barrel. Single action is nice and double action is (of course) stiff. I’m guessing in the 10-12 lb. pull area. My lone complaint is that you have to pop it pretty good to eject shells. I know it’s not as good as a S&W but it’s solid so far and so so much less money.
I had a model 94 for years and it suuuuucked. 3 times in the shop for the rear sight, and finally a bent firing pin. Taurus is sending me one of these and it looks improved.
Yes Taurus missed an opportunity here, they already have the tracker 992 .22lr / 22 magnum convertable. But it's with a 4 inch and 6.5 barrel. A snub by would be awesome! They just need to make it.
I agree. There is nothing to stop them from coming out with them as accessories. I got the 3 inch 22 wmr but I'd happily drop another $50-75 and get a 22LR cylinder for it.
Bradley S They’d sell a lot more if their other guns weren’t crap. You couldn’t give me one. If you did, I’d smash it up so no one would ever have to be disappointed in it again.
Hey cornhole... Hate to bust your Debbie Downer balloon.... I've been running Taurus weapons for over 20yrs and the ONE time that I had a minor issue, they took care of it and had the gun ( PT-111 in 45ACP ) back in my hands in less than 2 weeks. Yeah...I run S&W's, Colts, Sigs and even a few HiPoints too. Maybe your issue isn't the hardware!?!? lol. Its said that "a lousey craftsman ALWAYS blames his tools."
I have a Model 96 I got new in 1986; it is a fine quality .22 revolver and very accurate. I have a 1990 Taurus 9 m/m pistol, also very pleased with it. On the newer guns Taurus may have problems, from what I have seen on the net.
I just picked one of these up. Haven’t had a chance to get to the range yet. I really like it so far. Feels like it’s going to be a good training tool.
I have been shooting a 3in black version for a couple weeks now. I am approaching 1000 rounds through it now. The gun feels and shoots great, I can reliably hit walnuts and spent 12ga shells at 30 feet. I was hesitant about taurus, but so far so awesome! Great vid.
Love the new bullshead grips. They don't move around at all in your hand when you shoot. They are super low profile but don't feel small in your hand or beat you up. I always reach for a revolver pinky first and the little groove for your pinky finger indexes the rest of your fingers perfectly for shooting and automatically puts your hand in a very high grip which helps to run the gun faster because the bore axis is lower. They really put a ton of research and development into those grips.
Shootin' with Uncle Dan I have had the 3” .22WMR matte stainless since 2013. It has never failed to go bang. It has the Crimson Trace grip laser and gives me full confidence as my nightstand gun. I do not want to deafen my ears or shoot through the drywall in a surprise middle of the night confrontation. Highly recommend this jewel.
Just picked up a 2” matte black model in .22 mag for my mom, and I will say that it was pretty much shooting to poa with no adjustment out of the box. Functioned fine, and will smooth up with use, no doubt. It’s my second Taurus I’ve had experience with, the first being my grandfather’s late 80’s/early 90’s 6” model 66 .357 mag. That one needed some sight adjustment as he never shot it hardly if at all, and once there it’s been a great plinker with .38s.
Just got 1 for my wife, who has extreme recoil sensitivity. She actually will shoot this gun. A 22 lr is better than a frying pan to defend herself with. Hers shoots just a little low at 15 yards.
I would let it be. Unless you happen to live in the Superdome 15 yards is plenty. Let her have fun and don't push her. It may take years but sooner or later someone will have a 380 acp she wants to try.
@@brentyoung7356, Hopefully someone has a 32 acp EZ in the works. I wasted $350 on a S & W 380ez that she is so scared of that she got it to miss feed due to limp wristsing it. It will not do that with anyone else shooting it. Oh well, at least she has 8 rounds on hand and is proficient at reloading a revolver.
I may be in the same boat with my wife and daughters. I have seriously considered a .327 Federal Magnum. You can load all the way down to a 32 LR. Supposedly the 32LR and 32 H&R magnum rounds are pretty manageable recoil. Only problem is those guns aren't cheap and ammo is harder to find (mostly find it online).
Just got one (in black) and it was very accurate. It does fit J-frame holsters but Speed Beez loaders don’t fit it. I can say that the double action pull is much better than the Smith snubby.
Rugers go the same way as Taurus and Smith, counter-clockwise. Colt goes clockwise, and the other one that does that is Charter Arms. I think the EAA Windicator does that, too.
I own a Taurus Model 94 and a Taurus Spectrum.380, the model 94 is a 9 shot, 4” barrel stainless steel finish and wood grips with adjustable rear sight.
G- Mc They are patterned after Smith revolvers and the triggers are not as good as Smith revolver triggers but I have never had a problem with a Taurus revolver. I have a M85 from the 90s and its still running.
@Joe Citizen I originally had a nickel and got scolded for selling it so I got a stainless but I prefer the nickel. I own it but it my mother's pistol. I shoot it more than she probably ever will.
@@rbm6184 Try a new one and you'll be surprised. Taurus has revamped their triggers to the point where now they are just a hair different then a smith and wesson trigger. Most newbies won't easily tell the difference now compared to what it used to be.
I bought a Taurus .357 six-inch in the very early nineties. It still works great, except I aim high. Different caliber, same make. I like Taurus, myself.
@@rockym2931 I have a Taurus .357 6 inch ported barrel, Hogue grips, trigger job, in stainless finish. It is very accurate and has held up well. Polish it up ince in a while it looks brand new. Paid $275 and it shoots as good or better than my S&W costing $1200. Have shot several javelina and my boys now hunt with it too.
I have this in of the 3". I absolutely love it Edit: I forgot that I had left this review and ran into it just now...update... It slipped timing right at about 150 rounds. It was under warrant, but Taurus refused to even answer or acknowledge 3 separate warranty claims by email and 3 phone calls. Only one time did i get to talk to an actual person, and as soon as I said the word "warranty", she said that I was breaking up, and hung up on me... With a quick internet search, i found that many others had the same issue when mentioning the word warranty.... literally them saying they were losing connection and then hanging up. But it gets worse... I decided to take the gun to a gunsmith since I liked it, and was willing to pay out of pocket to get it working right. The gunsmith informed me that even if I was willing to pay, they were never able to get parts from Taurus so it was not even worth trying. This is my story and it is exactly what happened,i encourage you to do some research on the internet and you will find many other people saying the same thing as me. 🤦♂️😢
Here in Brazil the police use Taurus in service, every time we see in news the police gun failing in operation, this is the reason every shooter hates here in Brazil. (Sorry If I missed a few words)
I've been waiting on a pistol like this for a long time. I have never understood how you could buy a single action 22LR for $160 or a double action 38 Special for less than $250 (sometimes much less) but for quite a while all double action 22LR or 22WMR were all at least $400 and often much more.
@@paulross9287 Yeah it's nuts! Maybe it's because the alternatives are significantly lighter (to make them more appealing to carry) and that comes with added production cost. But the issue is that a $600+ price point for anything 22LR seems ridiculous unless it's competitive target pistol - you can buy a brand new Glock 19 for that price. The Taurus price point is just right. These things are hard to find right now but I just snagged one off GunBroker from Gilberts Guns for $350 and had it shipped to my LGS. I'm super happy with it!
That's because rimfire semi auto are crap and everybody know it. This is about the only way to shoot 22LR out of a handgun without dealing with all the BS
Thanks for the review! Picked up the special edition 942 22LR today with the red, blue and white VZ grip! I love it! Also picked up a box of Stangers! ;)
Taurus make great EDC guns. I have a G2C and I've put nearly 1000 rounds through it, flawless performance with every shot. Plenty accurate enough for my shooting, too.
Thank you for this data point! I've been looking hard at Taurus as an alternative to S&W since their 351C and 43C are both off the charts expensive. They also make a 6-shot ultra-lite version of their snub-nosed .38 that is basically a J-frame in size and weight.
This Taurus revolver for 300-400 dollars that is around 3000-4000 Swedish Crowns ( Svenska Kronor ) and it is Caliber 22 Long Rifle bullets. It looks perfect for people like myself with small hands could use it with no difficulty at all.
Great video, thanks again as always. Anyone who can see past "made in Brazil", can see Taurus is quality & established.. their work WITH S&W and Beretta contracts show this to anyone who can see past their noses in the air.
People talk smack about Taurus, but one of my favorite guns is a Taurus 605 2" .357 snubbie. Its Accurate as all outdoors! I've shot 158gr Mags in it No Problem! 👍🏻
@xr7fan I didn't say it was, did I? I know that, but that's usually the heaviest bullet weight you'll find on the shelf, and that's the heaviest I'd personally shoot out of a Snubnose revolver. If I was a masochist, I'd just smash my hand with a hammer, now wouldn't I?
Very enjoyable and informative video. Everything I have read and heard says that recent Taurus management is focused on product quality and customer service. After watching this video and listening carefully to your comments about the 942; I have decided to make this my first Taurus purchase. Are there instructions that accompany the revolver that show me how to hit the gong at 100 yds? Thank you sir.
ordered mine from Kygunco, just waiting on it to ship :) Looks like that front sight is removable, I can see a fiber optic front sight available in the future
I just recently purchased a new Taurus 942. It was defective out of the box, would not ignite any primers. Sent it back to Taurus, after waiting 3 weeks for an update they finally answered their customer service line. They said the frame was so defective they would need to destroy the firearm and issue me a new one, replacing the serial number. Wait 8 weeks for delivery and I have to do an FFL transfer AND pay for it. Just a heads up.
Just a suggestion... when shooting your far target. How about having a 2nd camera nearer to the target and we can see the hits. Always better to see the hit
I recently purchased a 942 UL 22LR and did not have a good experience. From the very first cylinder I could not eject the spent casings. They had to be punched out individually. Several brands of ammo including CCI had the same result. I sent it back to Taurus and they supposedly replaced the cylinder. The very first cylinder resulted in the same thing, all casings had to be punched out individually. I had a BP gunsmith look at it and he just shrugged his shoulders. I gave up in frustration and sold it back to BP at a significant monetary loss. I have had several Taurus revolvers with never any problems. I liked the looks and feel of the 942 but this one didn't do it for me. So, I bit the bullet and purchased a S&W 331C 22LR revolver. No such problems as described with the 942, it ejects ever brand I have used in it. In my case I guess the old saying applies, you get what you pay for! Semper Fi, MGySgt USMC Retired.
First pistol I ever bought was a Taurus tracker .17hmr. It locked up on my and needed to be sent in. Heard many TH-cam reviewers that don’t have money on the line (like honest outlaw) say they had the same experience with Taurus. I love cheap...but a revolver that isn’t reliable? It’s like owning a plane that doesn’t fly.
Yeah, at the 8:28 mark, you can see the cylinder turns counter-clockwise. As you said the Taurus and S&W go counter-clockwise and Ruger turns clockwise.
I bought one used. It fires great and is very accurate. However, spent cartridges tend to get stuck to the point where I’ve had to hammer them out. I sent it back to Taurus and they claim they changed the cylinder. Same problem. I brought it to the gunsmith where I purchased it, and he honed out each of the cylinders. He said it works fine now. We’ll see.
@@mlindsay527 After sending it back to Taurus for the third time they finally got it right. They replace the cylinder (again), the main spring, and the firing pin. It works great now.
Update. Sent it to Taurus. They said the firing pin was off. They fixed it. Went to range and had the kiddos shot it. They loved it. Not a bad revolver. I carry it now rotating it with me other CCWs (Taurus 856 UL, Bobcat 22lr Baretta 21A ) . I traded it for my Rossi .38 special snubnose and I got to admit I miss my Rossi. But I don't mind ccw the Taurus 942 now. Don't want to kill nobody just get them off my tail (praying that never happens) . Shoots good now. Not a bad ccw. South TX Corpitos.
I have three Taurus Pistols all have 12 inch barrels I started a new job and at that time I only had it chambered in 17 HMR a gentleman I was working with said he would outshoot any Taurus with his Smith & Wesson any day of the week I agreed I would take his bet for accuracy and reliability and then I showed him a picture of the gun and he said oh that's cheating because you have a 12 inch barrel I have no complaints with Taurus I'm on the hunt to get that gun in 22 lr and the new 942 .keep planking!
For home protection I always wondered about a 22lr or bigger with the first/second round being a shotshell - noise plus pain and a pattern of a foot or better at 10 feet. Next few would be hollow points. At 2am in a bathrobe I would worry about getting a hit first round. Thoughts?
Excellent Question and your situational example and the ammo you said you would use in it are what I have done in my bedside drawer revolver, and the revolver I have hidden and attached in a magnetized holster under the drivers-side dash for use against a carjacker - first two rounds are shotshell/snake-shot for a wide effective pattern of hitting them, rest of the rounds are hollowpoints/ballistic tip rounds.
Taurus, Ruger and Smith DA revolvers run counter clockwise. Colt DA and most SA revolvers go clockwise. Unless you're on the wrong end of the gun, then reverse direction
Always enjoy watching your videos.I Was more interested in the Taurus 942 Magnum. Will you, or have you already done a video on the 942 Magnum? But now I have decided to go woth the 942 22lr with a 3" barrel to replace my S&W M&P 22 compact. I just traded a Ruger LC9s for a new Taurus 856 with a 2: barrel. I also recently bought a Heritage Rough Rider with a 4.75" barrel. I'm replacing all my semi auto for Revolers. Thanks 22 Plinkster, another great video.
I really like 22 plinkers videos I'm new to the firearms world I have seen these videos on heritage arms manufacturing I've been looking at the 22 long rifles / 22 magnum single action I think that might be a good beginner firearm I really like 22 plinkers videos they're very informative for a new shooter and the things he can do with 17 HMR 22 magnum 22 long rifle just blows me away these cartridges are not the ideal cartridge for defending your property and your life but I never thought that it could be a viable potential defens option against a bad guy trying to break into your house and take your life
Great video & awesome shooting! I got myself one and love it. I ran into some trouble using Marlin 150th ammunition 36gr, this revolver did not function well with that ammo. The rear sight I feel like it drifts a little so I might just sight it in where I want it and add some loctite. But it's a solid revolver.
Dude! I found one in Corpus Christi TX! It was used. But in excellent condition. Big thanks to Ready Reserves for working with me on trade in + some cash. Haven't been able to go out to range yet. I got it for the esposa. I'll update once I shoot it.
Sent in a broken Model 94 , they offered a new 942 2” stainless rubber grip. Get one!!! So much better!! Fits perect in my hand. Trigger is alot better. Heavier hammer lighter trigger. 8 rounds of CCi Mini Mag? I wouldn’t want to be you if I had this!! I shot double action better just like this guy.
I've got a Ruger mark IV with a bull barrel, a Charter Arms 9 shot revolver in .22 WMR, and a PMR-30. But my EDC pouch has my old Jennings J-22 with a spare magazine, that I keep loaded with Aguila Super-Maximums, and I just bought a Rock Island Armory 1911 in .22 TCM for strong side. The TCM is a mean but magnificent beast, a full size 1911, but that .22 TCM round had almost no recoil at all, with a 40 grain slug going around 2000 feet per second. It's the loudest gun I own with an amazing fireball, but it's total tack driver with a 17 round double stack. That's a .22 with TEETH. The Charter Arms .22 WMR stinks on ice. The trigger is about 10 pound pull, it's humongous, and the cylinder lug is cheap metal that bends if you give it a stern look. I haven't gotten rid of it because I don't want to inflict it on anyone else. A truly horrible thing that only cost me the price of a transfer...and wasn't worth that much. The _Jennings,_ however, has been a solid little performer for almost 20 years of shooting. So long as you don't try to use it with Stingars. The case on that round is longer that .22 lr, and the case gets stuck in the chamber and won't extract. The Aguila ammo seems to be the best for it.
The Jennings are fine little guns as long as you change the mag spring. Click pens have stronger springs in them. I've bought dozens of the little guns and have found that was the failure point in almost all of them. Usually for 20-25 bucks, figured I use them for parts guns. Replaced mag springs and had most of them running reliably.
Back a year later watching this. I’ve had the little Smith equivalent of that gun, with the Rosewood grip in my hands, $449 before tax. A few years ago yes.. wish I would’ve bought it.
Great review ! What a cool little revolver. I bought a TX22 Competition 22 LR and love it. Well I had one but my son and grandson "borrowed" it so I probably need to get another one. This revolver looks like a good candidate. I also have a Taurus G3C in 9mm which is an awesome CCW.
Only issue or problem I've ever seen with a Taurus revolver was the screw on the right side by the trigger guard can come loose. If it were mine I'd probably remove and add blue loctite. Othr than that I've heard nothing but good things. The semi-autos I've heard less good things about but had a G2c that was always reliable...parted ways with it and it was definitely not as refined as other firearms I have, but was reliable.
The best version will be the ultra lite stainless finish. A great training revolver. Better yet a drop in your pocket woods and dog walking revolver. Back packing and back up to a rifle. Can carry large amount of spare ammo easily. Would like to see an HKS speed loader, until then a couple of speed strips in pocket and case guard 30 wallet plus ammo in revolver gives you 58 rounds. Drop a box of 50-100 in a pack and good to go. If Colt was smart , they would have chambered the new Cobra in 22lr and mag. , but we know the answer to that question.
I have a Taurus 605 after a couple shots from brand new cylinder locked up. I had to ship it back to Taurus theCylinder was out of alignment. They fixed it and the Gun works fine and is very accurate for 2 1/4 Barrel. But it left me never wanting to buy another Taurus.
Been looking for one of these 2in models since the video came out and still no luck. Found a shop that had a 3in stainless at one point. I’ve had a 2in Black model on both of my LGS “wishlists” for almost 2 years now and still nothing. I with manufacturers wouldn’t market something they have no intentions of producing….
I have a model 941, 8 shot, 22wmr, 4" SS TAURUS. Came with adjustable rear sights. Never had any issues at all. Great trail gun. A .22 wmr round has the same stopping power as a 38 special, meaning that 3 out of 5 rounds will take you down.
Bought the Ruger .22 mag and the double action was so heavy I ditched it. I was hoping it would lighten up a little but no. Otherwise it was cool. They need a strong spring to set them off.

I got mine from Sportsmans Outdoor Superstore 2 weeks ago, and it's my favorite plinker! Under 300 bucks and such fun!
That's a grate I need to get my handgun liceans I'm from Maryland and I have to get one just to buy a pistole eight years ago it wasn't like that .
@@rogercougle3042 That sucks. Try organizing with like-minded folks to make your county a 2nd Amendment sanctuary. It worked for Illinois.
I'm so tired of everything always being out of stock everywhere.
Palmetto state armory has them in stock
A real gun dealer will order anything
@@erichuff6945 A real gun dealer can "back" order anything. Right now, "everything" is out of stock at distributors. Even Taurus junk.
@@badgumby9544 Would you like to take a round of hollow point from my 357 Magnum junk LOL
Talk to me I’ve got one collecting dust down here in Florida I love it but I can let it go
I got the 22mag 2" 942m in the black. Awesome piece. I carry for self defense with speer gold dots
BINGO - best self-defense gun ever.
I have a Taurus 85: looks like the same grip: it's very nice! It goes bang every time and is plenty accurate.
I have a Model 96 I got new in 1986; it is a fine quality .22 revolver and very accurate. I have a 1990 Taurus 9 m/m pistol, also very pleased with it. On the newer guns Taurus may have problems, from what I have seen on the net.
38ul makes a good truck gun. I love Taurus. Had a bunch and never had a problem. Customer service is great too
I just picked one of these up.
Great vid.
Looks like a nice addition to the line up, I think I will stick with my 2” S&W model 63.
I have had the 8 shot 22 mag version for years. Zero issues👍🇺🇸
Same here, its solid and a 6" barrel
Shootin' with Uncle Dan I have had the 3” .22WMR matte stainless since 2013. It has never failed to go bang. It has the Crimson Trace grip laser and gives me full confidence as my nightstand gun. I do not want to deafen my ears or shoot through the drywall in a surprise middle of the night confrontation. Highly recommend this jewel.
@@dougjohnson5243 of course that is deadly through drywall, everything is
Just picked up a 2” matte black model in .22 mag for my mom, and I will say that it was pretty much shooting to poa with no adjustment out of the box.
Maybe file down the front sight?
I would let it be. Unless you happen to live in the Superdome 15 yards is plenty. Let her have fun and don't push her. It may take years but sooner or later someone will have a 380 acp she wants to try.
@@brentyoung7356, Hopefully someone has a 32 acp EZ in the works. I wasted $350 on a S & W 380ez that she is so scared of that she got it to miss feed due to limp wristsing it. It will not do that with anyone else shooting it. Oh well, at least she has 8 rounds on hand and is proficient at reloading a revolver.
@@brentyoung7356, We do live in the middle of 10 acres, but I get your point. Lol.
I have had my 942 WMR snubby for over a year, great shooter, no malfunctions.
...thanks for the report Paul...
Just bought one yesterday with the red, white and blue grips taking it out tomorrow to see how it works first 22 I bought in years
Just got one (in black) and it was very accurate.
Thanks for sharing. If you don't plan to conceal carry, then I would get a longer barrel.
I have the Ultra Lite Nine revolver and I love it. It shoots 9 rounds of 22lr and it fits in my pocket easily. A good pistol from Taurus.
Just got the exact gun this afternoon. Only got 20 or so rounds thru it. SUPER fun to shoot. It should work well for my training classes. !
I've been very excited about this gun since Shot Show.
Hi boss 4year ago I was watching your videos in Facebook . Now after 4 years I found you in my recommendation. Going to subscribe.
I own a Taurus Model 94 and a Taurus Spectrum.380, the model 94 is a 9 shot, 4” barrel stainless steel finish and wood grips with adjustable rear sight.
I'd love a lightweight 22 magnum. Love the content.
I’m ready to try Taurus. Last 3 revolvers from S&W, all had to go back to the factory.
I absolutely love it
Edit: I forgot that I had left this review and ran into it just now...update...
Everyone hates Taurus but really they work just fine sorry it's not a Taran tactical Gucci glock
Taurus earned their shit reputation just like kimber lmao
Same. I’ve never had a problem with a Taurus. Disclaimer, all of mine are from the last 10 years.
I’ve never had an issue with Taurus.
My g2c has 1500 plus roubds threw her she runs fine no stoppages or jans so far just a few bad primers out of federal bulk
I agree with what you're saying, the math just doesn't add up correctly.
Yup, over $600 for a Ruger LCR magnum, that only holds 6 rounds. Absurd.
I'm glad you did a review on the 942, I just got one and haven't been able to try it out yet.
...what's the update? Happy?
Thank you for this data point! I've been looking hard at Taurus as an alternative to S&W since their 351C and 43C are both off the charts expensive. They also make a 6-shot ultra-lite version of their snub-nosed .38 that is basically a J-frame in size and weight.
Same boat as you, crazy how expensive smiths and rugers .22 revolvers are.
I think this fits the bill nicely.
I hear you both.
Why is a j frame 38 sub $500
And a 22lr is north of $750?!
Thus, I'm here looking at alternatives that fit the bill 😂😂
This Taurus revolver for 300-400 dollars that is around 3000-4000 Swedish Crowns ( Svenska Kronor ) and it is Caliber 22 Long Rifle bullets. It looks perfect for people like myself with small hands could use it with no difficulty at all.
Very Cool 22 Lr revolver from Taurus. Thanks for showing this Taurus 942 22 Lr revolver , 22 Plinkster !!!!!!!!!!!
I have several Taurus guns also in auto and revolver in several calibers and I've never had a problem with any of them.
I have the 38 with the same grip . It is my favorite grip out of all my pistols
That pistol in 22 WMR, would be a great ankle carry!!
You beat me to it.
They should make one with an interchangeable 22lr cylinder, Ruger makes their 22lr single action dual caliber like that, why not double action
No it wont a 22 cant kill nobody its made for squirells its to small to kill a person

Great video, thanks again as always.
Anyone who can see past "made in Brazil", can see Taurus is quality & established.. their work WITH S&W and Beretta contracts show this to anyone who can see past their noses in the air.
I wish 22 magnum was more popular. I think it is a great round for putting holes through people.
I have the ruger lcr in .22 mag. Love it
Are you talking from experience ?
i bought the 942 with the three inch barrel today, Love it!!!!
I don't need another .22 pistol but if they come out with this in .22 mag I might buy one. I do love Taurus, own several.
I would like one in 22Mag, my Heritage Rough Rider is a pain to load.

Good vid!
I was looking 4 one in local stores, no luck. I want one or two.
Ultra light + shrouded hammer +good ammo for SD no doubts.
We’ll see.
How is it now?
@@mlindsay527 After sending it back to Taurus for the third time they finally got it right. They replace the cylinder (again), the main spring, and the firing pin. It works great now.
@@recoveringnewyorker2243 Did they cover shipping? If not, can I ask how much it all cost you?
“I have four or five Tauruses at this point, maybe six. And they all go bang.”
For home protection I always wondered about a 22lr or bigger with the first/second round being a shotshell - noise plus pain and a pattern of a foot or better at 10 feet. Next few would be hollow points. At 2am in a bathrobe I would worry about getting a hit first round. Thoughts?
Hollow point in all the cylinders. Ditch putting on the robe and wake yourself up better.
Between the Taurus 942 and the Ruger Lcr which has the best trigger in double action?
Plinkster, One of these days I'm going to get one of those 942 bad boys. They're hard to find. Good review. Keep attacking!!!

Been waiting for this review, awesome vid !!
Makes sense. The samish screw on the S&W 642-1 has blue loctite on that screw as well.
Think in love with 22LR revolvors & my 22LR.
22 was always my woods gun because I could carry a lot of ammo to horse around. This is nice, no magazine to lug around.
I with manufacturers wouldn’t market something they have no intentions of producing….
normally 2 word revolvers turn counter clockwise. S&W and Sturm Ruger. Colt being one word turns clockwise
Taurus is one word, and mine rotates CCW... not CW.
I would love an all stainless model with a 4” barrel and adjustable sights. I thought they used to make one.
I've been trying to find one of these for a while now local to avoid some fees, but no luck here.
I really wanna get one of these, but I can't seem to find one in stock anywhere :(
Great revolver, and ammo affordable. Price and quality with reliability and accuracy.
Bought the Ruger .22 mag and the double action was so heavy I ditched it. I was hoping it would lighten up a little but no. Otherwise it was cool. They need a strong spring to set them off.
