Andy is responsible for me buy too many pedals....He just makes them sound so good! I guess you can't have too many??? Rock on Andy and I am a Big Fan!!
Very good Pedal i know afew people who tried out the Prototype and loved it. must say its very good, same high quality that TC Electronics pride themself in
I would like to know that too, I have a nova system, but the drive section is NOT true bypass and I want this pedal to make up for that. However I can tell you that the interface for the nova system doesn't let you play OD+Disto at the same time, and are a little less malleable. you have control but only gain, level, tone. this pedal is really something unique. I think a lot of people underestimate how important ANALOG drive is when you use Tube amps.
Yep this pedal rips, stoked with mine. Here's a couple of small gripes: You can't change presets using just your feet - you have to reach down and toggle between. You can't use multiple modes across different presets - so if you want toggle mode for one preset and standard mode for another, well, tough luck! It can't do metal - it doesn't have the definition in the top end that you need for chunky palm muting.
The same thing happened to me a few weeks ago. I bought it on a Saturday and played on it until Tuesday. When I turned it on, it was dead, but the lights and buttons worked. I got a poping sound when I changed preset, but that's the only sound I got. I returned to the dealer and got a new one and have been very happy ever since. This pedal sounds fantastic! I am however disappointed with the quality, since several dealers reports that a huge percentage of the units has defects....
Digital manipulation gives you unprecedented versatility. The signal path is still 100% analog with no A/D conversion. Sooooo... in short, this pedal does not suck.
I want to see a distortion pedal that has a wah type pedal were you can control the amount of distortion with the pedal. You can set up the minimum and maximum distortion with some knobs, and then you can gradually increase the amount of gain with the pedal. Sometimes I don't automatically go from clean to distion. I want to be able to build up to it sometimes. Can anyone tell me if there is a pedal like this?
The parallel mode sounds very cool. Almost like playing through two different amps at once. I'd like to have seen a little more about the presets, though... how do you set them, call them back up, etc.? Does the preset include everything about the pedal setup (including whether it's parallel or OD->Dist / Dist->OD)? I'm wondering how usable the presets are if you're not interested in programming midi to control the thing.
@vaibhavnayel I was thinking of getting the Nova Drive for my Mesa / Pod XT Pro midi rig...With this in front of the Mesa and in the rack, all I'd have to stomp on is the Line 6 controller. Could use the Overdrive alone with the Crunch channels on the amp, or have tones with the clean channel and OD/Dist on.. HMMM. All with one button...
the presets control everything, also route, but switching between the banks is not very handy; you can't switch between banks without an external footcontroller. I do use midi with my line 6 m13 witch I love, but switching between the banks on it self is only possible with the wheel on it.
Shit that sounds good! There is a lot to be said for competently micing your amp for these reviews... Brilliant. What a wicked pedal... costs a lot of money though :(
I'm looking for a preset that works great like my lead sound but.. I feel like there's not enough gain to do that without getting a huge noise. Anyone that can help me?
How would this work with a gt10 with its MIDI? Anyone has any idea how to work it and the number of presets i can get? I was thinking this analog drive + effects of gt10 would give me almost any tone possible.
can sum1 who has tried or has this pedal plz tell me if the distortion is gd for new metal (bullet for my valentine, as i lay dying, children of bodom, etc)?
I like th sounds, but just can't get to grips with TC Electronics stuff. there's no doubt about the quality but it all seems a bit clinical if you know what I mean? Still, I guess it's in the hands of the player ;-)
Andy is responsible for me buy too many pedals....He just makes them sound so good! I guess you can't have too many??? Rock on Andy and I am a Big Fan!!
I got mine from PGS today. so far it's a lot of fun, took me minutes to get the perfect sound. i'll be rockin' with this all week. thanks PGS!
This pedal is amazing, this is my main overdrive distortion pedal in my rig, from Hard Rock to Latin this is the best pedal in the market.
This has got to be the most revolutionary od/dist pedal of the 21st century.
Very good Pedal i know afew people who tried out the Prototype and loved it.
must say its very good, same high quality that TC Electronics pride themself in
Finally I have my Nova Drive. Awesome pedal, sweet and professional tones. Love it!!!
Right at the top of my pedal GAS list actually - versatile and incredibly good tones in a controllable package.
Nice review Mr A :D
Wow I'm surprised, this sounds really good. Nothing I would want, but the tone is still phenomenal.
Rebel Yell never loses it's badass'ness!
I'd check out the manual online. But in general, the preset saves every knob position and mode you're in.
man finally a pedal like this came out. i think its a great pedal and maybe the next gen effects will be more like it.
Finally an overdrive/dist pedal that I like
yep, totally nailed the Steve stevens tone, awesome.

try boosting it up with a dedicated booster or an overdrive pedal running low gain.
that usually works.

Rebel Yell, Check My Brain, Andy you are really rockin' it!
Man...5:25 is the kind of tone i want...its huge^^
Rebel Yell alert!....sounds pretty good.
Billy Idol - Rebel Yell
Don't know how it's done exactly but it's a creative technique.

Oh yeah!! This pedal sounds great. I want more more more!!!!
@posiedonpowertrio any multi effects pedal will have both, plus loads of other stuff too
Digital manipulation gives you unprecedented versatility. The signal path is still 100% analog with no A/D conversion. Sooooo... in short, this pedal does not suck.
Blimey! Rebel Yell !!!! That brings me back some =)
check my brain:D this pedal sounds killer, i just ordered a nova delay from tc can't wait it to arrive.
This thing Roarrrrrs!
HI Andy, What would be a good setting for getting a clean boost?
I want to see a distortion pedal that has a wah type pedal were you can control the amount of distortion with the pedal. I take that back, I want it haha
At the opening demo, It's kinda like a less dark Big Muff with more of a distortion quality than fuzz.
Nice useful review. Thanks!
Starts with Check My Brain, and I say: "Shut up and take my money"
@Notturno81 awesomely, that is, if you have the hot rod mostly clean

just got one!

I love that!!!!!
what was that song you were playing when you switched to the les paul?
Could you guys do the Nova Modulater?
@Elguru that depends on what kind of lead you play, give some examples
I generally use the g major controlled by the cfb1010.
Can I control the nova drive and g major both with cfb1010?
does it fit with amps\pedalboard?
does this come with power adapter
wad is the difference between the toggle mode and the normal mode?
@CrimsonFlagg i can do that with my rp1000 - the pedal can control the gain
@vaibhavnayel Are you in a Chuck Norris cover band..?
In the midnight hour.....she cry more, more, more.... \m/ m/
How does it fit to Hot Rod deluxe?
what song is that at 2:54?
beginning is new alice in chains single "check my brain"

2:49 Monty Python reference?
In the midnight hour.....she cry more, more, more.... \m/ m/
This looks like it would be really good for bassists.
Shit that sounds good! There is a lot to be said for competently micing your amp for these reviews... Brilliant. What a wicked pedal... costs a lot of money though :(
Billy Idol!
Does anybody knows if this pedal sounds similar to other TC OD/Disto pedals?
I'm looking for a preset that works great like my lead sound but.. I feel like there's not enough gain to do that without getting a huge noise. Anyone that can help me?

Damn I was just listening to that Alice In Chains song right before I clicked this video.
Shit that sounds good! What a wicked pedal... costs a lot of money though :(
Rebel yell!
@geokar16 haha! OMG yes!! how did you guess? :P
@jshinster1 Rebel Yell by Billy Idol.
Well I guess my next stop is Ebay!
Was thinking the same thing, sounds a bit thin/empty. Crunchy n versatile though will prob sound better through my plexi :p
is that new Alice in chains?
can sum1 who has tried or has this pedal plz tell me if the distortion is gd for new metal (bullet for my valentine, as i lay dying, children of bodom, etc)?

Check my brain!!!
Check my Brain, new Alice in Chains, man :-)
Check My Brain!!!!!
alice in chains woot
great pedal, but i just remained unconvinced about TC overdrives for some reason.
not enough gain for me.....
shame it's so ugly!!
I generally use the g major controlled by the cfb1010.
Can I control the nova drive and g major both with cfb1010?
What's the song at 4:40?
