- How will the outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID-19) impact global supply chains? Panos Kouvelis, the director of The Boeing Center for Supply Chain Innovation and Emerson Distinguished Professor of Operations and Manufacturing Management at the Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis, shares his insights from an operations perspective.
He predicts the full effect of this "black swan" event may last for two years and impact the global economy to the tune of $300-400 billion, and that demand shocks will create a "bullwhip" effect up and down the supply chain.

Very fitting elevator music.
Guys let’s all move to Greenland, it’s literally impossible to infect even if your disease has a ton of transmission upgrades
“When your shirt says made in China” GET THIS SHIT OFF ME
Beyond the health issue, the COVID-19 pandemic has generated a problem in the supply of products and supplies throughout the world, which affects logistics and commercial activities, this includes the health and technology sector, without which the modern society cannot function. All of them are being alarmed by public opinion, social networks and news of some of these fakes and panic purchases occur, affecting inventories and the supply chain.
My question is: Are companies really concerned about these types of emergency situations? I do not think so.
Good
good opportunity for emerging markets to get in on the action while it's being disrupted.
That’s why trump went to India. Breaking trade with CCP entirely is a goal that corona has accelerated
I think that the great impact that this pandemic has had in the world regarding the supply chain is due to the fact that many companies are not prepared for such drastic changes or for crises as great as the one that COVID-19 has generated.
I also think that the affectation that has been generated from the appearance of this disease will last for logistics companies for a longer time, so that recovering from this "bad moment" will cost a lot to all companies.
