Currently a pack of 20 cigarettes in the UK is nearly £15. £10 of that goes direct to the treasury. Smokers are also self euthanising, some dying decades young, so they require far fewer years of treatment for other ailments in their old age. Add to that that they claim their state pensions for many fewer years. The reality is that smokers are funding the NHS for non smokers. Not the other way around. The truth is irrelevant with Labour. As always, nannying Labour think they know better how you should live your life than you do and they’ll enforce it with legislation. They know better how to spend your money than you do so they’ll take most of it in tax.

I don’t like smoking, I don’t smoke, but this is a ridiculous idea… you only have to look at cannabis which is still used, but for cigarettes the government actually makes money on them and they could make money on cannabis too if they legalised it.
Seeing as they have banned them now, i think it would be great if they would lower the price for the people that will still be smoking till they are old and grey. When i started, 20 benson was about £3, and now it's about £16. i was allowed to smoke back then, now im forced to pay a high price because i was allowed to smoke and it made me addicted and became a part of my life, i think personally the government allowed cigarettes, they allowed the advertisement of them, they taxed them, its as if they are the dealers, and once they got you hooked they charged more and more, now all of a sudden the ban is in and they are charging the people they dealt the stuff too extortionate prices.
