Very true. I do try and have my mini's painted before i put them to the table. The hachette collection however has delayed my attack on my stash somewhat
Some of those board games such as Dark Souls you are unsure about painting- prime them black, dry brush them with a lighter color, maybe do a few washes. They will look way way better and you can put 50 minis in the "painted" category with a couple of hours work.
You inspired me to inventory my pile of shame/opportunity, figures and terrain for 40K: 597, Flames of War: 290 total 887. Steadily getting stuff done but those GW Christmas boxes get me all the time. I have about 18K in points painted in 40K between UM,DG, and Necrons. I’m trying to whittle the pile down about a third before the end of the year ( probably not). Happy Hobbies
Im glad i was of some help, i've been attacking my pile for the last year and this video has largely helped me from adding to the pile. The weekly magazines from hacette are killing me though :p the only time i get to truly attack the backlog is when its a paint issue. Fair play in attacking yours, but you know a completed box makes room for one more in your stash .... cough...
@@seanmcnallyactor I just finished a challenge from May to end of August. I built about 120 Necrons, and 48 Ultramarines models. I painted 46 of the ultramarines to a fine tabletop standard. The last two are primed and basecoated ( land raider and stormraven gunship). In that time I got my imperium subscription, and purchased 5 boxes of models. This week I tackled 3 boxes of FOW (24) all primed and basecoated.
GW hasn’t helped. Finishing up SM from 2 leviathan boxes ( sold nids, only built leaders from one box), 3 boxes from Agustas task force box only built Brutalis dreadnaughts, desolation squads. The heavy intercessors from ATF will get built and painted for Black Templars. I probably finished close to 100 figures this year. After GW pulled the bait and switch with HH items about 6 models are gonna stay on the pile of shame for a while.
Hi Sean - for Bloodborne and This War of Mine, it might be worth going for simple wash / contrast colours rather than a proper paint job. It will help bring out the details without the painstaking effort
Done is better than perfect

Great tip, thanks!

You're doing well! Best of luck whittling it down by end of year! Keep us posted!

Good suggestion for a dark and grimy look which would suit those games, thanks Ian
Thank you Ian. Much appreciated. Im after picking up some contrasts. Ill give it a go on the bank holiday
Great video Sean, tbh your space hulk video inspired me to get my minis painted! Keep up the great work.
Thanks Steve, great to hear that! Will do!
I recently started working on my own pile of shame.
Its a good thing to attack, and if you do succumb to temptation and impulse buy, you'll at least feel less guilty.
What are you attacking first?
@@seanmcnallyactor started with Firefly Adventures. Then did Folklore, Mansions of Madness, Fallout and now working on Imperial Assault.
If I die before my wife, please sell my minis for what they’re worth and not what I told her I spent on them
Haha... So true...
My pile of shame is like.... 2 unpainted minis
Fair play to you!
Did you ever paint the blue horrors? Sell it or gift it
Don’t feel your pile is like 1/3 of my pile
Its still there! One or two things tackled though!
Always potential we should say, never shame :)
Gift me the Warcry one if you haven’t even opened it two years after
Every time I paint 1 mini, I buy 10 more. Help.
That ratio seems healthy... 🤣
Jesus man would you ever go handy
Dude you have way too many
