It's 06.10 in sunny England, I clicked on this solely because it said Mk 7 selmer. I have been through a few other clips, and I am in accord with other viewers. This man is just knockout! Mr Graves sir , you are a delight to listen to.
I'm always impressed by Mr Graves talent. Your sound is inspiring to all that hear you. You are a true masterpiece and your sound is priceless. Thank you for sharing.
Ariel, don't be silly! Don't talk about something you don't know. I have been with Mr. Graves and I have my own recordings with him. He is a rare musician. I have never doubted on his talent. I made a trip from Brazil just to be a few hours with him. He his an inspiration for me and many others. Look for the "fans of aubra graves" page in facebook. You'll learn a lot there. And keep studying and practicing. Maybe someday you'll get close to Mr. Graves. I bet it will take you many years. And remember: a true musician is a humble person.
See you later everybody !!
If Mister Graves can do it : we can certainly do it too ......see you later Pedro .
AND NOTHING ELSE so , one more time : Bravo Mister Graves !!!
my name is Lance Parker I'm from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania I studied off of the great Sonny stitt and I still have his Mark 7 tenor saxophone that he gave me in 1978 I play a 9 * Bobby dukoff metal mouthpiece and I have a big fat Tenor sound my friends want me to do TH-cam I'm 63 years old and I still play professionally occasionally when I studied with Sonny stitt I would travel to Cleveland Buffalo Rochester Cincinnatiand play with many of the jazzmasters as Sonny would bring me up on the bandstand to play the last half an hour of the set with him and such greats is Jimmy Smith Don Patterson Louis Hayes Kenny Burrell Abraham laboriel slide Hampton Monty Alexander in many many more including the great Kenny Clark on drums I used to stay in the hotel with sunny and study for hours technique playing big fat Lowe's subtone notes on the tenor sax today I feel I have mastered all of it after practicing 4 to 5 hours a day for about 12 13 yearsnow I play the horn a few times a week and I still have it when I pick it upmr. Graves is no longer with us and he will be surely missed maybe I will be the one to take over the legacy of older saxophone players going on TH-cam maybe see you soon Lance Parker from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania God bless
Dear Mr.Graves listened with pleasure to your beautiful performance of this number. Can I buy this backing track or where to find. With regards Gerard!
Well, I'm not on Facebook, so I may well be missing out on loads of info. I've been through quite a few of these songs, all great, wonderful tone. The saxs may change but the mouthpiece seems to be a constant, what is that mouthpiece?
Chet Baker on trumpet used to play on student horns a lot, lose his good horn to drugs. Have to grab a cheap horn and play that night. Most could not even tell the difference.
you have no swing while playing trying to improvise, neither sense of time or control of the saxophone,so go and practice or change profession instead of make a bad comment of a true professional musician.
Mr. Graves works with some very good equipment, and he the key to him sound so rich and full is in the over all balancing when he plays with just the right amount of reverb, also remember that this is well rounded performer, a first class performer to be exact. The Minus One's he's playing with are very well produced, where a player has room to play what he or she really feels and hears, because... I for one started with another person that has a vast library of minus one's to choose from, but very few are as good a production as the ones he's playing with. J.A. is just starting to produce better quality minus ones, his first production of minus ones are very difficult to improvise to, but, are good to learn the melody. They are basically straight forward chords and the band doesn't make room for the improvisor to feel and expand what he or she is hearing while playing. This is not Fake, just down right excellent playing of a good horn and mouthpiece set up.
Proof that a MKVII sounds great in the hands of a master.
MKVI is um pushed a little too much so is the vintage thing. There are many horns new and old that sound incredible in the right hands.
Damn fantastic, simple smooth and soulful... a certain flow that is perfect for this era song
I'm proud of my 40 years old MkVII and yes this is the proof it's the best

Love the tone on that Mark Seven - another beautiful lyrical performance. Would be awesome to hear a recording with a less pronounced reverb.

He's playing on his Burg, but he sounds just as good on his Otto Link...
Mr Groves rules.
love to hear mr graves play on a cheap sax and say its a mk 6 or 7 and most of us would not no the diferance
Chet Baker on trumpet used to play on student horns a lot, lose his good horn to drugs. Have to grab a cheap horn and play that night.
Most could not even tell the difference.
now that is tone. Correction, that is TONE!!!
Nice: "Selmer mark VII" and "Berg Larsen" mouthpiece?
ariel it ain't fake m8
Bravo!
think he plays on a burg and a link but he would sound great on a pork pie
He plays an old Conn with a Link and the Mark VII with a Berg.
Are you the cousin of Buddy Tate.?
Que
Maravilla de sonido de musicalidad
De elegancia!!
He "sings the song".
HOW DARE YOU PLAY A MK 7 THY DO NOT SOUND LIKE THAT SO THY SAY.I WILL HAVE IT IF YOU DONT WHANT IT LOL
Nice but that sound is made more by the metal mouthpiece.
Is fake
ariel amoedo either you're an idiot or a troll - either way your comment is disrespectful and distasteful.
You SMUCK.......you have opened your mouth and shown the world why, as a musician, you have only 19 subscribers.
you have no swing while playing trying to improvise, neither sense of time or control of the saxophone,so go and practice or change profession instead of make a bad comment of a true professional musician.

Just went through a painful experience of listening to whatever it is you are trying to play....Beginner at best, and not a good one at that !
