    Proof that a MKVII sounds great in the hands of a master.

      MKVI is um pushed a little too much so is the vintage thing. There are many horns new and old that sound incredible in the right hands.

    It's 06.10 in sunny England, I clicked on this solely because it said Mk 7 selmer. I have been through a few other clips, and I am in accord with other viewers. This man is just knockout! Mr Graves sir , you are a delight to listen to.

    Ariel, don't be silly! Don't talk about something you don't know. I have been with
    Mr. Graves and I have my own recordings with him. He is a rare musician. I have never doubted on his talent. I made a trip from Brazil just to be a few hours with him. He his an inspiration for me and many others. Look for the "fans of aubra graves" page in facebook. You'll learn a lot there. And keep studying and practicing. Maybe someday you'll get close to Mr. Graves. I bet it will take you many years. And remember: a true musician is a humble person.

      J'aurai 77 ans ce 7 mars prochain et je m'y suis mis il y a 2 ans 1/2 seulement......et ça marche !! Je pense avoir fait de gros progrès étant donné que les premiers contacts ne furent pas très bons....aucune note ne voulait sortir des tuyaux !!! ( sax ténor et soprano ) Je pense qu'il me faudra encore 2 à 3 autres années pour atteindre un résultat convenable , mais je sais que j'y arriverai : je joue tous les jours de 1 à 2 heures : c'est mon seul secret . Je ne pense pas à la mort : j'ai beaucoup trop de boulot pour m'occuper d'elle. Je crois que c'est ce que fait Mr Graves et je suis certain qu' il a raison, bien sûr . Mon projet est qu'un jour ou l'autre, vous me verrez également avec mes saxs sur le web , j'espère pouvoir organiser un duo avec lui : lui, avec son ténor depuis le Texas et moi au soprano dans ma petite Belgique !! P.S . Ne riez pas : je sais que j'y arriverai. ( évidemment, je suis musicien depuis longtemps ( trompette, trombone ) , mais pour les saxs, ça n'aide pas !!!....pas du tout la même embouchure.....ET TOUT LE RESTE NON PLUS !!! See you later everybody !!

    • @PedroSilvanoGunther
      @PedroSilvanoGunther 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jacques, je serai heureux de lui rendre une visite aussi, comme je l'ai fait avec Aubra Graves. Laissez-moi savoir quand je peux aller. Mais ne vous attendez pas à atteindre l'âge de 90 ans, ok? Qui sait que je peux jouer un peu avec vous. J'étudie / pratique sax alto. Au revoir.

    • @jacquesdeghorain3162
      @jacquesdeghorain3162 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      c'est bien ça : il faut continuer à étudier, étudier.... c'est un job qui ne finit jamais.....mais c'est tellement amusant !!!...........et puis quoi 90 ans ?? : c'est encore jeune !! If Mister Graves can do it : we can certainly do it too ......see you later Pedro .

    Esta muy chido como toca esa canción el señor,descubrí esta canción pero en su versión de jazz latino en un CD que no aparece registrado en internet, llamado "Welcome to Los Cabos",
    Pensé que no era las misma canción ya que aparece en la caratula el nombre de la canción "I only haces eyes" ,pero tienen similitudes:)

    une fois de plus, il faut bien constater que le son de l'instrument est au moins à 9o% produit par le musicien. Ceux qui soutiennent que c'est l'instrument le responsable sont suspects de vouloir prendre fait et cause pour l'une et l'autre marque : c'est tout...C'est un problème de merchandising, tout ça.....AND NOTHING ELSE so , one more time : Bravo Mister Graves !!!

    my name is Lance Parker I'm from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania I studied off of the great Sonny stitt and I still have his Mark 7 tenor saxophone that he gave me in 1978 I play a 9 * Bobby dukoff metal mouthpiece and I have a big fat Tenor sound my friends want me to do TH-cam I'm 63 years old and I still play professionally occasionally when I studied with Sonny stitt I would travel to Cleveland Buffalo Rochester Cincinnatiand play with many of the jazzmasters as Sonny would bring me up on the bandstand to play the last half an hour of the set with him and such greats is Jimmy Smith Don Patterson Louis Hayes Kenny Burrell Abraham laboriel slide Hampton Monty Alexander in many many more including the great Kenny Clark on drums I used to stay in the hotel with sunny and study for hours technique playing big fat Lowe's subtone notes on the tenor sax today I feel I have mastered all of it after practicing 4 to 5 hours a day for about 12 13 yearsnow I play the horn a few times a week and I still have it when I pick it upmr. Graves is no longer with us and he will be surely missed maybe I will be the one to take over the legacy of older saxophone players going on TH-cam maybe see you soon Lance Parker from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania God bless

    Well, I'm not on Facebook, so I may well be missing out on loads of info. I've been through quite a few of these songs, all great, wonderful tone. The saxs may change but the mouthpiece seems to be a constant, what is that mouthpiece?

      Chet Baker on trumpet used to play on student horns a lot, lose his good horn to drugs. Have to grab a cheap horn and play that night.
      Most could not even tell the difference.

      @Albio53 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      you have no swing while playing trying to improvise,neither sense of time or control of the saxophone,so go and practice or change profession instead of make a bad comment of a true professional musician.

    • @philipocasio4720
      @philipocasio4720 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mr. Graves works with some very good equipment, and he the key to him sound so rich and full is in the over all balancing when he plays with just the right amount of reverb, also remember that this is well rounded performer, a first class performer to be exact. The Minus One's he's playing with are very well produced, where a player has room to play what he or she really feels and hears, because... I for one started with another person that has a vast library of minus one's to choose from, but very few are as good a production as the ones he's playing with. J.A. is just starting to produce better quality minus ones, his first production of minus ones are very difficult to improvise to, but, are good to learn the melody. They are basically straight forward chords and the band doesn't make room for the improvisor to feel and expand what he or she is hearing while playing. This is not Fake, just down right excellent playing of a good horn and mouthpiece set up.

      Just went through a painful experience of listening to whatever it is you are trying to play....Beginner at best, and not a good one at that !
