My condolences go out to Robby Steinhardt's family. My patrons already knew that I wanted to do this one today. I shared the whole summer of 69 song list and dates for each video with them before I started posting them, but it just so happened that he passed away this week. May he rest in peace.
Original bassist on the song: Dave Hope (1970-1983)
He used a pick and a P Bass
I got this as a request, but I had actually been working on it for quite some time before. It's a classic song that's great and fun to play, although a little tricky.
As Far as tabbing it out, the 12/8 section could be read as 4/4 but with triplets instead. Either way is fine and the notes are the same. I actually decided to make it 4/4 after showing the tab in the live stream. I think it's clearer that way.
Anoteher point to note is the fast part with the pull offs in the interlude can either be played open, or on frets 5 and 7. Some people in the stream said they like one way, some said the open strings is easier. Take your pick :)
These live videos showed me that the bassist wasn't important to the appearance of the band. The camera is practically never on him.

3:22 - fast triplets (like bar 107) Billy does 0 and 2 camera follows billy b/c of backing vocals
4:53 - end of solo you can see billy. Seems like 0-0-1-2-0-0-7-7 (Bars 150 and 151)
5:19 - next solo, you can see part of BIlly's positioning. He does not slide up

@@SamboatMusicBassCovers thx so much I think the hardest part is the triplets and using a pick but I'll get there
The 8th note before the triplet is tricky. Make sure that you’re hitting it and the first note of the triplet at the proper time instead of the 8th note at the start of the triplet. I had accidentally been doing that for a bit and doing 7 notes in the span I should have been doing 6. A metronome will help get that little bit of timing down if you need
