I didn't know how creepy and mysterious original Shang Tsung was. I wish we'd have more of that vibe of him, although I do like how charismatic and brash he is in 1/12.
For real though. In fact I think the entire cast looked more scary. Like Goro and Baraka too.
What's funny about the first iteration of Shang Tsung is that the only reason he had his morphing ability is because there wasn't enough memory left to give him proper attack animations beyond shooting flaming skulls.
Literally, the most pervasively evil soul thieving ancient wizard reincarnated as a useless cosplayer 😂

Og Hanzo was something else, he managed to move on from his grief and vengeance and found his redemption in Kuai Liang. It was truly a beautiful arc. All told in walls of text. Excellent character.
NRS stripped Hanzo of his complexities and compassion and made him an angry man-child. They never did Hanzo justice.

That feeling of defeating shang tsung and shao khan in mk 1 and 2 can not be duplicated
I honestly think Shao Khan was worse in (U)MK3/T, he was less predictable and the jumping knee charge and hammer being added gave him more moves for you to have to anticipate.
Yeah but even watching this clip and seeing shang Tsung's defeat. And hearing the announcers voice it brought me back to being 7 yrs old and the amount of work me nad my next door neighbor put in to defeat these games
@@thenomadicsavior9118 oh yeah these games were some tough motherfuckers. Half of it being just straight-up cheating on the A.I.'s behalf because you couldn't throw them and they could duck your uppercut and do their own uppercut, which you couldn't duck.
Shang Tsung though, in the first game, was honestly not that difficult. Sure, you'd probably lose once or twice because you wouldn't anticipate him morphing the first time, but Shao Kahn's moves were all faster and would take out like a quarter of your health in one hit. Jump-kicking was also way less safe with him, he could punish that shit so bad.

The satisfying thing about Mk1 arcade ending is that it shows the character you picked beating the hell out of Shang tsung and Quan Chi right after beating them.
Thats happened in ALL of the NRS era games.
In Deadly alliance they're using actual styles. For example, hapkido and tang su do. I took both styles and some of the moves represented in the game were actual moves we learned in class. After scorpion wins when he puts both his fists straight down in front of him, that's called ready stance and is the stem of all moves in hapkido. Just thought it was cool to see stuff I learned for 8 years in a video game.
That's what I missed about the 3D era MK
Battle Stances is like a precursor of MKX Variations,
but can be swap during gameplay anytime to make long combos..and its not affect special .
Still, variations suck ass.
Not just in mkda, they also used actual fighting styles for each character in mk Deception and in Armageddon
I loved deadly alliance on gameboy so luckily i never hated it the way others hated the ps2 xbox version i got my shang tsung fatality 💪🏼
Out of all my complaints of deadly alliance I say it’s greatest weaknesses is the music was boring and some stages were too but some were decent but the fighting styles weapons and graphics are better than deception or armageddon

I remember the first time I beat Onaga in deception I didn't know that you could destroy the crystals to make it easier so I ended up beating him without breaking them with Kabal so I'm still kinda proud of that.
I love how they blurred Hara Kiri so they wouldn’t get demonetized
