I really was worried about the long video so thank you for responding. In K-Pop there are groups with pretty girls or pretty boys. Sure there are groups with amazing pyrotechnic stage displays, Sure there are groups that can sing the same old K-Pop melodies and for what it is they do it well. But, Purple Kiss gives you so much more. Their songs are never a carbon copy of other songs. Their singing ability is undisputed. They are all so versatile, engaging, funny, engaged with their fandom; as an example they just released a short video to wish students good luck on their SAT's and a reminder to bundle up because it is cold out. and on and on, but the One thing that seperates them from most of the rest of the pack is they are very very creative musically and after all it is about music. Purple Kiss uses interesting harmonies and melodies and they transcend a cookie-cutter musical style by always taking an interesting and creative musical approach. One Minute they may be doing a Dark-themed Whitchy Vibe, and right after it a soulful/haunting emo theme, then maybe a Rap-Cover, and dance track, Brazilian Boss-Nova,...
I actually caught some of their member live streams prior to the release of Headway just to get a feel and support them even though I don't speak Korean.(No subs) But I wanted to ask why were you worried about the length of the video exactly? Not a big deal just curious. I was already gonna go all-in on PK but you are getting me excited to check out more of them. Thanks again for the info and knowledge!
@@KPopOnLock Sorry for hogging your board. I sometimes wonder if I'm being over the top wit long fan-boy type messages. The thing about is that if anyone spends a little time getting to know them they will be hooked. Interestingly the Debut song Ponzona is about that very thing. The video/song is about them, as witches, and they're going to poison (Ponzona means venom) with their love spell and once they have you, you're theirs. This is a common concept with them. They are full of paradoxes, cute but dangerous, nerdy but confident in that nerdiness. etc. I mentioned it earlier but many of their videos have 'nods' to people who are usually dispossessed and they are encouraging embracing your oddities.. but even at that there are layers of messages beyond the lyrics YOu'll see though, Almost everyting that they put out will eventually be subtitled , There are lots of TV interviews, playful day-in-the-life stuff, look for Perky Holiday for example / the live streams are mostly in Korean for their Korean fans but they will eventually release an abbreviated version with subtitles. You'll catch their vibe pretty quickly I'm sure. As for my 'roadmap' I would suggest looking at the first several vids that i mentioned, after that there's just tons of content. I hope that you will enjoy the ride because they have much to offer. Stay loose.
No worries! I did do a little research on Ponzona because I planned on reacting to some of their earlier songs before we got to 'On My Bike' but I appreciate you giving me the context of the song. I may use your exact words when we get to it because I'm not great with words and communicating. I'm sure I will enjoy the ride. My KPop plate may be full at the moment but I'm down to make room for PK. Thanks!
Even though they are on the same label as Mamamoo, most people (including me) tend to compare them to Dreamcatcher, and there is an overlap of the fandoms. I really like this comeback and mini-album. Recently there was concert in Turkey with Dreamcatcher as the headliners and Purple Kiss as the opening act.
First, the Prince album you referred to is Purple Rain. Now I can't tell if you know of their earlier stuff or not so PLEASE excuse the very long message; First, thank you for the video and for supporting and promoting Purple Kiss.I am not sure how familiar you are with their work but since you asked for suggestions this is a comment I made for a new fan. It's a bit long so I'm sorry about that but this will give you a little roadmap. there's just tons of other stuff but if you follow this it will give you a taste of who they are. One of the constant themes with Purple Kiss is they embrace their geekdom and they are not going to be fit into the cutsie/hepless girly mold. They constantly both encourage uniqueness and promote living in your own lane. Here are some suggestions to introduce new listeners to PK My Heart Skip and Beat and Can we Talk again- These are Pre-Debut and will immediately let you know that they are not cut from the K-Pop mold and you cannot predict what they will do because they are so musically versatile. Next, their Debut, Ponzona. I really recommend the original MV. You will find with PK that they will do many versions, MV, maybe Updated MV, Dance Track, Relay Dance, Practice, etc. Ponzona will be your first taste of their clever storytelling and subtle imagery. For example in the video, On My Bike you may have noticed them eating a pomegranate, this is a nod to Persephone and also reflects a larger musical/group perspective. PK is full of this kind of subtlety and their fans love their little inclusions of deeper meaning. After Ponzona, just to see another huge swing, check out the original MV for Zombie. They did a updated , scarier, version of this which is good too and a different slant on the song Oh man there's so so much more, Skip-Skip is fun, Likewise Pretty Psyco, Nerdy, Love is dead, Sweet Juice is a very fun MV, Bittersweet a great dance track, I could go on and on and on Some of their fun dance covers, Shinee's Ring-Ding-Dong, OneUs's Black Mirror (my favorite), EXO's Overdose. There's so much great dance covers, Song covers I really recommend Mad at Disney MV (this one in many ways is a video representation of who Purple Kiss as a concept and I really recommend this one) and Vegas by Doja Cat. It would not surprise me at all if their next track was a Country and Western song with a K-Pop twist, or Bollywood, or a Traditional Russian Folk song. Purple Kiss are K-Pop but they are so much more than that. Oh dang, Swan did a very spooky version of Dance Monkey which is a dark, but on target, version of the original, and she also did an out of this world version of skyfall/No time to die. this one is a must hear. I gotta stop , I'm sorry for babbling so much. Welcome to the land of Plory you are in for an amazing musical adventure that transcends the typical K-Pop window. Please forgive me for making this just a bit longer. You mentioned their sound. Most K-Pop, from a purely musical perspective, fits into a very very narrow lane. Purple Kiss have incredible musical talent beyond vocally because they often play with creative harmonies and musical flights of fancy. Many musicians, who have no interest in K-Pop, find them intreguing for just this reason. Beyond the obvious they also appeal to people that have in-depth musical understanding. I for example play multiple instruments and multiple genres but my main interest is Flamenco guitar. I hope that you will explore this group because on a purely musical level they are definitey a cut above the typical of the genre. Again I am so sorry aboutthe long message. Oh crap, one more, Correography. They self correograph almost everything that they do.
No worries about the long message! I'm here to learn about KPop and PK. Yeah we only have heard three songs from them, what we react to is our journey on this channel. We did Autopilot and Zombie before On My Bike. As I said in the video I wanted to go back to there debut songs but since you suggested their pre-debut stuff we will start with those. Thank you so much for the info and suggestions!
A car for the body but a bike for the soul....Yuki (Purple Kiss)...Cool!!😊
Purple Kiss, Flo, Little Mix, Xg, Mamamoo vocal Queen’s, Very underrated groups, for the quality of music they make🕶️😶🌫️

That is cool, I like it when fandoms unite. I haven't checked out the whole album yet. How often do Kpop groups have opening acts?
@@KPopOnLock I think it is unusual.
@@KPopOnLock I think it was a case of several acts performing sets, and the junior group performed first.
