@dchristopher7 that's amazing... but I have you beat.. i played this song on repeat for the entirety of the solar eclipse... so imagine playing a two minute song on repeat dor 2 hrs... I wasn't indoors listening to it the whole time, thank God but I did have it on repeat while I was outside with solar eclipse glasses... I also played total eclipse of the heart over and over again leading up to the eclipse too.. those are two perfect solar eclipse songs

Oh so true. Director Alejandro Jodorowsky was the first to try to turn 'Dune' into a film (in 1974) and he wanted Pink Floyd to do the score. The film was never made but it's kinda a full circle moment hearing 'Eclipse' in the trailer. I hope curious music lovers will take your advice and experience 'DSOTM' as an uninterrupted piece - the way it was intended (besides, of course, getting up to turn the album over like we did back in the 70's.)
Tbh as a pink floyd fan you will hate me but I don't really like dark side😅...I know it's their greatest album but I'm more into their first musics with syd or the musics of the album Early years 1967 1972, Saucerful of secret, obscured by clouds and the pipers at the Gates of dawn are my favorites albums

idk how you feel about this but probably one of the best songs ever made during the 20th century, the lyrics are heard simply but felt deeply, rare are the people who achieved such greatness in less than two minutes.
I remember when I first listened to the whole album how cool this was. Just so fitting, but truly similar to the biblical To Everything There Is A Season from Ecclesiastes. Which the Byrds tturned inho Turn Turn Turn. Tho the instrumentals quite set them apart. And I'm still in love with PF lyrics and music on Eclipse. Broader perhaps deeper.

Back in 2017 I drove to St. Louis to see the total solar eclipse. I listened to this song during the totality, and they were almost exactly the same length.
I saw them on the Dark Side of the Moon tour. Not like the later versions with all those other musicians in the band. And huge light show like later either. It was still incredible stuff.
I came looking for this commentary, it really looks like the video is a third impact sequence. Which is both impressive and frightening at the same time.
