Very stylish. The problem for us mortals is knowing when to ratchet up the attack and when to cash in. Many games are lost by getting that timing wrong.
It's like Fischer said about chess: "Chess is a matter of delicate judgment, knowing when to punch and how to duck. I know people who have all the will in the world, but still can't play good chess."
@@Reptar4000 No offence intended. The word "immortal" is quite frequently used in a chess context. I should have said "those of us who are not super grandmasters".
When Wei Yi does it, he's sacrificing in the style of the old masters. When I do it, I'm throwing a piece out the window. It's what comes after the sacrifice that makes all the difference.
Well, there's your problem. Close that window. And when you try to throw the piece, it will just bounce harmlessly off the glass, and you can pick it up and put it back on the board.
@@nkululekonkush3403 indeed, we mortals love Mike Tayson chess style. If one aims to watch perfect chess, then one must go and watch computer chess games. We want blood all over the board
Wei Yi played like No reverse gear Rashid🥵 I winder hiw would the old masters like Tal, Morphy, Anderson, Alekhine would play in this engine dominant era. Pure sorcery
Wei style's is so great, always delivering funny games where he just throws moves that would look like blunders in a low elo game, but are actually crazy good moves
When you begin learning chess you go back and study the game of the great masters. This reminds me of some of the game I would go over from Marshall. He would do astounding piece sacrifices that as a beginner you could never imagine and turning the game into a crushing win. This is that kind of brilliance that leaves the common player sitting in awe. Thank you for this game. Something that will be a timeless masterpiece. This is what draws you in to want to play chess.
Wei is 5-6 years back was a world champ material.. he was 2700 rated at just 15 years of age .. hope the talent doesn't go wasted nd we see him doing some wonders in the future
my favorite part of this game is that it totally goes against one of the first principles you learn - if your opponents king is in the center of the board, advance your central pawns and blow up the center. somehow, wei yi advances his own pawns and blows up the center while his king is still in the center of the board!
Great Game great attack getting those pawns up the board really gave Wei Yi a big advantage lovely offense all initiated from Max’s attack with bishop and knight on f2 great strategy not reacting or trying to defend just push his pawns 😊
Watching this live, the clock situation was a huge factor in this game. They were both below 20 minutes at move 15 and 10 at move 18, absolutely nailbiting. Max really lost this game on time, he played the last 10 moves on increment.
"The engine is recommending bishop G1, but let's be reasonable here" is a fantastic description of how to think about engine analysis if you're less than 2400 rating.
They are but they don't get the invites as often as they should. Like Wei YI. Wang Hao. Yu Yangyi. Bu Xiangzhi. And Ding. I think that is their strongest 5 players and Olympiad winning team.
I want to know how Agadmator chooses which lines to show. I was watching the live telecast of the game and commentators showed many many interesting lines that were not shown by agadmator. I can understand showing every line would cause the video to get too long. But this is the nth time I felt like agadmator didn't show many cool lines and that's why I am frustrated. Anyways this analysis video is amazing in itself. I just recommend whoever is reading my comment to watch the live telecast too if possible.
When a knight makes so many moves to capture a rook in the corner, and can't extricate himself, it's likely that the material advantage will be negated by poor development.

Crazy referring to other human beings as not mortal
@@Reptar4000 No offence intended. The word "immortal" is quite frequently used in a chess context. I should have said "those of us who are not super grandmasters".
This is the definition of true sorcery. No fear just pure mastery.

@@davidanderson_surrey_bc If you close the windows, then Alireza will steal it. :)
Try throwing your opponents pieces out the window (maybe when they’re not looking). I find it boosts your chances more than chucking your own pieces.
Isn't this immortal territory? This is beyond words, wow
Bro decided to play the entire game in his head first; Max actually thought he had some chance after the 50 minutes!!!! lmao
8:56 It's wei cooler to play Kb1 first.
A better pun: it’s wei yisier to play kb1
I haven't seen such a complicated and artsy middle game for a while. Love it, ty!
This broke my brain. Absolutely amazing!
😂😂😂
this game is absolutely brutal… wei yei deserves invitations to every major tournament
Wei Yi,Alireza and Gukesh...all 3 don't play for draws even if the position is equal 😅😂😂

"The engine here recommends Bg1 but lets be reasonable here" made me almost spit coffee out my nose 😂
One of the best games I've ever seen. Wei Yi, my goodness. Incredible.
Alternate title: Most interesting game of 2024.
So far :)
Even in this tournament, ju wenjun against alireza endgame come to mind as equally exciting
Wei Yi said that it was the most interesting game of the last 5 years. Haha.
@@ex0duzz Didn't know that! Thanks for letting us know.
Sorry, only Kramnik can award that title

I saw Caruana's tweet about this game yesterday and awaited your analysis video, so I could understand the game.
Brutal from Wei Yi
Wei Yi's immortal game. What a classic!
If you haven’t watched the actual immortal game of wei yi you should do yourself a favour and watch it now
Awesome game, probably best game of the tournament.
Wei Yi says Nope, Here's the Pain.
Antonio is a legend of chess commentary, and deserves to be invited to commentate the Candidates Tournament
Is this satire?
I think you need to be GM level to be invited to commentate there
I love Max but i love wei yi more😂😂😂
@@edwardtang3585 it’s not true, I remember WGMs and WIMs commenting in the fide channel for previous candidates
I agree!!!
Is this the Wei Yi Immortal? I would say it is definitely worth considering!
Oh I posted something similar but I'd not seen your earlier comment. I think it really is an immortal
he already has an immortal vs. bruzon
this is one of the craziest games ever. Thoroughly enjoyable. Thanks for it! 🙂
It's the tournament games I've ever seen, this tata steel 2024 is something else
What an immortal game! Thanks for sharing this! It definitely deserves a better caption, I would’ve missed this beauty.
What a tactical yet positional chaos I must say, couldn't calculate at all, couldn't even find the pause the video moment, such a genius!!

I see wei yi on the thumbnail, I already know its a banger. Thanks Agad!
Looks like a game from 1824 instead of 2024
#suggestion would love to see any Wei Yi vs Rapport game. wondering how much chaos do both of them can have
Wow..this game is a Thriller..
Kudos to Wei Yi
3:33 "Let's be reasonable here" 😂😂😂
Thanks for showing what's really important and fun
I never comment. I've never even viewed the comments here before....Bravo, Mr. Yi. This game will never be lost in the sands of time.......
This is pure chess violence .
I have an OTB tournament soon and this is a powerful lesson I needed to learn as I can be overly attached to material sometimes!
Cool ty

He went to uni and just graduated. Now it’s his comeback! 24 years old is too young to stagnate
Thank you. Another incredible game.
Thinking 28 possible manouvre in advance for 48 minutes is giving you head pains.
The C in the bottom corner when Wei yi plays stands for CHAOS.
Wei Yi is a complete maniac. This game made my head hurt.
One of my favorite games you ever covered, take a bow for this one Antonio.
#suggestion should have labelled it as wei yi's immortal.... actually more like mythical or legendary
Except that he already had an immortal. Watch it if you haven’t

wow what a game..
A masterpiece this game...❤
Yi impressive tournament.
I swear on my MCO I saw Kb1 but for the totally wrong reason haha. What a great game.
It was so cool that im watching this for second time already.... 🎉 What a game by Yi
“Mind over Matter” - great principle for life!
As a humble 1500 I can't imagine thinking for 48 minutes on one move. I'd run out of things to consider.
"Wei Yi just doesn't care." that's chess
Brutal❤️🔥🔥
Wonderful!
This was so confusing donno how they think of these moves . These GMs are not normal people 😮
what a game
Brutal !
Game of the decade so far

No Wei! I can't believe this game

This wei yi guy is amazing
7:37, after black knight move, what about bishop to b3? Disconecting rook from queen , seems interesting to me

My brain exploded
It’s all about sacrifice!
Great game.

“Hoping he takes some material”🎉 Wei Yi is no “ push it”😂😂😂

Warnerdam looks like a charming VAMPIRE PRINCE.
#suggestion Anish Giri vs Magnus Carlsen 2011 Tata Steel
The way Antonio pronounces "ajedrez" is fun but actually cool, kind of an argentinian accent
In the Tata Steel 2024 spirit please bring back the Morphy head.

Oh right didnt see the bishop lol thx
