@@klinxium8627 Since I'm a gay man, I can only talk from my own experience and say for sure that it is no choice of mine. If we are being reasonable, however, sexual attraction is perhaps one of the most deeply ingrained impulses in the biology of any living organism, and it's certainly one of the oldest adaptations. Saying that we can change it on a whim of a choice is nonsensical, no matter how we look at it. We have trouble understanding how much choice we have in the most human of behaviours, let alone a set of behaviours that go back to our earliest vertebrate ancestors.

The video says that 10-11% of the population is LGBTQ, but the Pew Research survey it cites specifically states that it didn't try to determine the proportion of the population that is LGBTQ, but that other surveys put the number at 3.5-5%.

There is even more. NPR talked to a scientist studying DNA and behavior connections.
In the mice study they noticed 'plaques' that form on DNA as the mouse developed. They studied mice that received motherly attention and those who did not. This effected where plaques developed on the DNA and how social, empathetic a mouse was later in life.
So environment can effect DNA and who we are. But still most of this is out of our control.

It makes a lot of sense to me that rather than the 'default' sexuality being straight, the default sexuality of humans (and possibly all sexual creatures) is actually being bisexual/pan sexual. I mean, part of a creatures quote-on-quote purpose is to reproduce, hence sexual desire. Which may lead one to believe being straight is the default, since it can lead to procreation. But considering homosexuality and bi/pansexuality is seen across many creatures, maybe the default is just being horny and our genetic quirks and upbringings influence whether we prefer one gender over others?
Also, I found it interesting that there were much fewer lesbians than gay men in the pie chart (can't consider that an accurate representation of the world's population but still). I wonder if this is because females are more likely to consider themselves bisexual than males? In a way, many straight men (and possibly gay men) are more pressured by society to stick to being attracted to one gender. Obviously there are many bi/pan males and many lesbian and straight females, but it's just a thought. I wonder if many people have the potential to be bi/pan but societal standards and their own determinations have caused them to choose one gender over the other, and perhaps men are more susceptible to this (not that this is a bad thing, just a curiosity). Or maybe this is completely wrong and people are truly just born attracted to one gender over the other in many cases, I'm not sure. Sexuality sure is complicated huh.

@@bluecannibaleyes attraction is natural to human and animals. That's why alot of animals have a certain feature that the main purpose is to atract a certain animal. Both animals and humans have a chemical reaction that can occur when we are attracted to something. Both also have some specific things we do to atract someone or something. People are mad whenever they say that being homosexual is a choice, because people tend to say that you can change whom you are attracted to while they tend to say that you can't push a straight man to being gay. Which screams "being a hyprocrite". And the only inconsistency in here is people believes that this animal behavior is natural but not when humans do it.

I've lost many friends due to me being gay, even people trying to fight me for being gay, and I'd say I'm much more mature and unthreatening than the average person. All of these people have been taught by their families and surroundings the blinding hypocrisy of ignorance. But I've also gained true friends more meaningful than they could ever have. I will always call myself lucky to be gay, to have the insight of truth and ability to understand when a person is speaking with ignorant pride or with an awed understanding. In America before the british stole the native lands, many tribes idolized their gay people and called them two-spirited, able to see through a man and womans' spirit, and many of them became Medicine Men. I'm not bashing on religion when I say this, but people has used religion as their resource to fuel their hatred. Living in the Bible Belt, there are so many ignorant people here with religion as their fuel to spread this evil and hatred. Love and knowledge is the key to understanding.

@@geckogaming3658 Thanks. I got faith the future will be much better, that is if the corrupt politicians doesn't mess it up permanently. Not calling anyone out but, many republicans are dehumanizing and constantly fighting to take our rights away, it's happening this very second and some of them are getting away with it, words can't describe how I feel about them. IMO if it were possible I'd happily escort those responsible in jail for impacting thousands of people with their unfairly imposing beliefs. Arizona is taking away voting rights which directly targets LGBT and colored people due to the statistics of the voting patterns of them, same tactic been used since 1800s. Republicans would be a dead party if this wasn't passed down through the centuries. It sounds biased of me but, it's the terrible truth lol.

@@CouchOfThePotatoe oh shit man i did not know of this i am in europe. but opinion on gay people is not any better here)) yes that is true that the people responsible for putting many lgbt people in danger should be given consequenses. we can only protest and hope that it becomes more safer for all people around the world to be happy and not hate crimed. and it is better to be biased in favour of human lives instead of being biased in favour of thinking lgbt lives do not matter. hope it gets better where you live also bro

@@geckogaming3658 I see. I hope so too, we just gotta keep fighting and protesting and being active in political efforts for the good. The communist countries are basically fucked lol. They have a gay camp in Chechnia Russia where they torture and kill gay people. Our previous vice president in America also believed in electro therapy and rumors say he was once gay and had the therapy. Gotta be extra careful around the psychopaths. Idk if you are gay/etc but either way be careful and good luck, I am not too knowledgeable of LGBT standards in Europe.

Please tell me that you didn't just say 7:08-7:57: 'to find this DNA you would literally have to draw samples of their DNA from every part of their body'. That every cell in the body has the same DNA (with only minor deviations that may arise, for example, from mutations) is rather foundational biology and, as I know some science, absolutely destroys your credibility in my eyes. If I misunderstood what you meant, do let me know.
