    You MUST make T-shirts with your coin drawings. I absolutely love them! :)

    That exact mark antony used to be in my collection! (I can tell by the marks and appearance). Im glad to see someone else is enjoying it!

      Thats really cool! Yes, I often chat with the owner of this coin and he´s very proud of his collection, so you can rest assured your coin is in very caring hands! :)

    That last coin was something I've never seen before, very cool... I need to pay more attention to tetrarchy coins.

    Like! great video! I have a LEG XII CLASSICAE, but quite worn as these denarii circulated well into the 3rd century AD

    I also have what I think is a legionary mint Denarius from the Republic.
    It has a Right Bust of Victory on Obverse and a close up of a legionary eagle on the reverse, with its wings sticking up.

    I have been cleaning coins for a few months. Almost all of them are from Siscia, I don't know if it's my favorite but it's the one I know best!

    Great video, it's truly mind boggling to think about how many coins were struck in antiquity across the mints of the empire (this not even including other ancient civilizations).

      True! I think this is the first surprise any beginner collector has when introduced to the hobby.
      "Wait... how come there are so many?!"

    I have a question about the OCRE website, you mentioned in one video. It's a very useful resource; however, it did not work very well for me in getting information about my Trajan coin. The coin was minted in Bostra, Arabia and the inscriptions are written in Greek. The search feature does not seem to work for Greek inscriptions. Is there some way to search specifically for Greek letters?

    • @ClassicalNumismatics
      @ClassicalNumismatics  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      In OCRE´s case Im not really sure.
      Provincial coins are a bit trickier, I recommend you use RPC Online and MANTIS, also from the American Numismatic Society. I need to make a video about these as well one day.

    I have two antoniniani of Aurelian. One is from Ticinum and looks normal, whereas the one from Siscia doesn't. Aurelian's neck is comedically long; he looks like a giraffe.
