Peart is the drummer's drummer. He's an articulate and an utterly detail oriented perfectionist. I can see why he inspires so many people whether it's his fellow bandmates or the folks from DW.
I think most true fans of Neil understand his shyness. It's gratifying to see him happily chatting away about stuff he's passionate about... it's as though he's getting all the words out of his system that was bottled up as an awkward teenager.
I'm soo happy to see neil with soo much happiest and enthusiasm ! its so awesome to hear him talk about his ideas and the people he has working on things! he is truly a hero to all. I love him and the band they are so not into the greatness if themselves but the goodness of their talent and what it brings to us fans!! GOD ALIENS WHATEVER BLESS ALL OF YOU RUSH!! :)
Truly a class act to mention the collaboration of people that help make his vision including the road crew the art direction and all the elements that make an amazing live performance not many stars acknowledge the army behind them kudos to you Neil ! RIP gonna miss you was lucky to have some behind-the-scenes adventures on your tours with a class act crew
That's called, saying things in a roundabout way. Like most introverts, I am one, you get him in the right situation, talking about the right subject and we will go on and on.
Hi Jamie! Glenn here........ have seen these from time to time.... great interview. Neil is so outspoken and open here. very cool. great job hosting. hope you've been well 'old friend. :)
It would be nice to meet on the road at some diner and talk about the region he just rode through. I’m a huge fan of Rush but would like to hear his take on the day of riding.
was reading some of the more negative comments for this video..as a longtime fan of Rush, I can say Neil has changed alot since moving to California ,from Canada. He's in the media alot more, does alot more interviews, and consequently TALKS alot more. personally, as much as I always admired and respected him and enjoyed his work- I preferred the more "private Peart", the more "mysterious" Peart. I guess you can look at it different ways, but he's gone through a transformation.
@1325ACO its not that. ged alex and even himself said it was a shyness thing. and after what happened to him in '98 ged and alex said they didnt want the press to ask personally questions that would be hard for him to talk about. he explains his loss in his book ghost rider. check out beyond the lighted stage and neil explains why he's not a "people person"
Mike Mathers, Ha ha ha , I was thinking the same thing, There are things that Neil believes or does not believe that I just do not agree with but that is what makes us who we are, but I still love his music writing and his drumming, eventually Neil will figure it all out . . .
U know yrs ago he raffled off his candy apple red Tama Superstars..but not many people know that he had 2 superstar kits .. He had one here and another in Europe for the European tours.. So he still has one.
is neil peart really dead? i mean, here he is talking to us seems like since he passed away more and more people are discovering him on the internet interacting with his art communing with his mind isnt he more alive then ever? in a way? its just that we are separated by a bit of time hes kind of transcending time isn't he? when you transcend time, isn't that about the same as being immortal?
@conroto Yeah, once Neil gets going he GOES. He doesn't do many interviews which probably explains his need to say EVERYTHING when he actually DOES do one.
RIp Neil, you've contribute to our life too much to say. Same to Eddie,we artists are not realized, until we are gone. They were, the intro to spirit of the radio was best ,on this tour.
Neil doesn't do autographs because he believes that "a good live performance" should be good enough. He believes the best way to thank rush fans for their support is to give them a good show, not meaningless scratch on a piece of paper. Plus he's really shy.
He said that he gets embarrassed by all the attention when people rave about him. After he plays a bad show, which hardly ever happens,he said he feels like a sham and unworthy of praise. Typically perfectionist....
Not true, and he makes a point as to why he dislikes talking to people who come up to him basically wanting to be his new best friend. He also goes on to talk about when he was travelling that passing the time of a day with just a regular person was fine, cuz he isn't this big famous guy, but a regular dude.
This gentleman has so much to say and to give, watch his DVDs, read his books and listen to the interviews... but some stupid fans only want photographs and autographs and hugs and friendship and privacy. He's not available for things like that. So they start getting offensive and insulting. Never understood that...
an intelligent mind should be heard he is really an interesting individual to listen 2,i never realized how smart he was lmao im not gay but this dude is cool
Don't get me wrong (please) I love Neil, but he's starting to sound like Al Gore inventing the Internet when he says that black chrome hardware "didn't exist" until they came up with it for his last kit...I've had black chrome hardware that predates his Snakes and Arrows kit by a few decades.
I could listen to neil talking about paint dry and he would still have my full attention...
I agree. There's so.ething about his voice

That's the spirit of Rush. That's why I love this Band.
RIP Neil Peart. Much loved and sorely missed.
Neil's involvement in Rush goes far beyond the the Drumming he is the mail song writer .his Lyric skills are amazing,
I get the feeling that this man would be the best. dad. ever.

This band is so true to there music. And there fans know it. I just love this band.

IMNSHO, The Time machine DW is not just an instant classic, it is the finest drum kit motif in the history of drums.
master of the drums...
he definately makes the interview process easy for the interviewer.
I could listen to him talk all day long. And he would by the sound of it!
@conroto Such a legend! Have you seen the FULL interview in Issue 1 and 2 of iDrum Magazine?
It would be nice to meet on the road at some diner and talk about the region he just rode through. I’m a huge fan of Rush but would like to hear his take on the day of riding.
WOW ! his in depth ideas are far beyond what we can possibly undestand. That is what makes RUSH what they are.. The BEST

U know yrs ago he raffled off his candy apple red Tama Superstars..but not many people know that he had 2 superstar kits .. He had one here and another in Europe for the European tours.. So he still has one.
I actually fell asleep to Neil's voice... What a man, what a musician!
is neil peart really dead?
i mean, here he is talking to us
seems like since he passed away
more and more people are discovering him on the internet
interacting with his art
communing with his mind
isnt he more alive then ever? in a way?
its just that we are separated by a bit of time
hes kind of transcending time isn't he?
when you transcend time, isn't that about the same as being immortal?

neil doesn't need that set. but hes still teh greatest drummer of all time
He said that he gets embarrassed by all the attention when people rave about him. After he plays a bad show, which hardly ever happens,he said he feels like a sham and unworthy of praise. Typically perfectionist....
happy 60th birthday neil peart(on September 12, 1952 a god was born)
words per minute = approx 90,000

To criticize presupposes and alternative - Neil Peart
This gentleman has so much to say and to give, watch his DVDs, read his books and listen to the interviews... but some stupid fans only want photographs and autographs and hugs and friendship and privacy. hahaha good answer, forrest gump and sting in an interview
Sorry I did not realize I was in the presence of a Rock God....:)
Speak for yourself. His ideas aren't beyond my understanding. :)
he is!! little known fact. kind of like Will Ferrell and the Red Hot Chili Peppers
Ah...how REFRESHING! Neil discussing his favorite subject, himself.
wat the? how do you get a top comment with no thumbs up?
And many people call Neil a recluse or anti social - far from it.
Don't get me wrong (please) I love Neil, but he's starting to sound like Al Gore inventing the Internet when he says that black chrome hardware "didn't exist" until they came up with it for his last kit...I've had black chrome hardware that predates his Snakes and Arrows kit by a few decades.
Or he just made a simple mistake and didn't realize it.
And who said God doesn't talk to man anymore???
What a profound loss.
Kevin Spacey.
the guy definetely likes to hear himself talk
