Listened to this on because the cover caught my eye. It reminded me of the cover of Shadowglow by Flipturn. Pretty interesting listen.

A pretty respectable take on the album. Can't say I strongly disagree with you on any point.
Those more electronic, low-key tracks you mentioned sound like they were influenced by Daniel Armbruster's side project "Best Frenz". The track Splendor actually sounds like it could fit right in on their album "The Mall" that they released last year as part of that project.
I definitely prefer the more indie-sounding tracks as well.
