I always surprise that they can play their song perfectly everytime. If someone awake them to play a song when they sleep, they will play perfectly like this show.
Appreciate comments like this. Odd-time music such as this can be hard for people to get into, even those who are fans of rock and metal music. But, at least you are able to recognize and subsequently admit just how talented and bang-on they are in their craft. Anytime they play a live show or release new music, it is instantly apparent that they strive for perfection, especially from a musical standpoint. And with the success they've garnered over the years, it would be easy for them to just roll in their cash and release half-assed music and give 50% when playing live (like so many bands do nowadays). But, they refuse, and their passion is a major reason as to why.
@@ntrakit6 he has pearl eliminator pedals i believe. You can modify those with allen keys. What he did there is that he has a double pedal rigged like he have two bassdrums, and the two beaters are set up right in the middle of the bass drum, so the sound is more exact.

Basically, two slaves with shorter driveshafts meaning that the left and right are truly identical (with the one downside of being slightly heavier due to more mass per side). I have an original offset pedal, and it does center the bass drum in front of you so that the audience can see both of your feet at all times. Very helpful for when some double pedal designs have the master pedal on center and the slave left of center. Also helps for recording because less bass drums to tune/record and the beaters are mirror images of each other.

Concert earplugs man. They're relatively cheap these days, no one can tell you have them on, they don't affect the sound quality much, and you won't have major hearing loss later in life.
It's a feature of my phone that when you zoom in, it redirects and enhances the mic sound to focus on what you're looking at. I'll see if I can try to isolate both audio signals and choose the best one to reupload

And Dream Theater's most recent two albums are two of the best albums they've EVER made. if Portnoy is so good - where are Adrenaline Mob, Sons Of Apollo, Flying Colours and Winery Dogs now ? Exactly. NOWHERE.
I really don't get why they continue with LaBrie. In this song the tuning is lower than usual, and he still isn't able to deliver one melody accurately. Every other band would have dumped him long time ago...
They're playing it in standard tuning, you gotta respect the man, he's been doing it for 30 yrs and he damaged his vocal chords years ago, he's older and still manages to sing throughout a full leg of a tour.

You should see their concerts in LATAM, and also it's definitely more of a party. I went 3 times in Chile and it was bonkers, thousands went to see them every single time.

There is so much stuff that is infinitely better. 👎👎👎 The Grammys have vertiginously lost their relevance and value. Year after year it gets more and more evident the academy's total inability on knowledging what is in fact Heavy Metal and heavy music in general and essence.

From a melodic stand point , it's theme resembles everything that has already been made, with very few exceptions, since the "Train of Thought". DT reached a level where they managed to decant music to a certain point where musicality and technique became two things visibly, obviously distinct and totally separate. Therefore, I personally don't see any musicianship in the band anymore. In order to refute some of the more banal and recurring arguments used by fans of this band, prog has never been, is or will be only about technique. Today DT is a cheating band that hide their lack of composition talent with irregular compasses and arpeggios. There was a time that it was more than just that. Now it's long gone.
Mangini can play literally any kit and adapt it for Dream Theater - even killing it on this smaller (than usual) setup.
