Is there a way to convert that 96 Centurion to a 9mm? My friend, who is a police officer, has one in really good shape. When his department was discontinuing them he got all new parts (barrel, slide, springs etc.) & it looks really good. I was hoping to convert it to a 9mm. Thank You. Sincerely.
In the Beretta 96/92 series, you can swap an original .40 to a 9mm by only changing the barrel. It doesn't work the other way around-you can't put a .40 barrel in a 9mm because the breech face is too small, but a 9mm barrel in a .40 works fine. The only other issue is the feed ramp, and the feed ramp in the .40 frame will work with 9mm but might or might not work the other way around. Also, most .40 magazines will feed 9mm with no problem (and vice-versa). So, all you need is a barrel. If you buy a naked barrel you'll need to get a locking block, too. Check out berettaforum.net for lots of information and discussion about this.
Good video. Thanks for the tip about the locking block. Sometimes my Centurion does not lock back at the last round. Feeding was fine and accuracy at 15m as good as I can do, most shots in the black. Very comfortable in the hand and low recoil.
Good presentation. Just wanna note: the half cock on most guns is to obviate accidental discharge while cocking, it serves no other purpose. Thanks for the safety tips and a closer look!
Hey so I recently Grabbed one of these on trade (sadly no night sights =( didn't know it was a pain lol) and keep wondering since I have seen vids of The 96 G quick changing to 9mm with just a barrel and mag change. Does ours since its built on the 92 frame anyway? I really would like quick switch to 9mm as i said FK it originally and got a high end 1911 and then this. So in an attempt to fill the 9mm gap in my small but growing collection, while to low on funds after my other guns. Other wise i would just go buy like a G17, whats you opinion, can we ?
do you know a good place where i can get every part required for a beretta m9 slide? I just got a stripped slide im pretty handy with the gun and understand the full disassembly/reassembly i just don't know where to get the parts.
Excellent video, you cover the gun very well. The 96 centurion was my carry gun while I was a deputy sheriff and followed me into retirement.
Did he smell the magazine at 2:55?
Nah, It looked like he used the hand that was holding the magazine with to scratch his lip

You need to buy a new slide, barrel and magazines but it can be swapped out

Didn't see a range review. Any feedback on the shooting characteristics of the 96?
Is their a centurion model with a rail?
I have one

What is the difference between the 92F, 92FS, and 96 ?
The m92f and the m92fs are the same thing only the 92fs has a enlarged hammer pin to prevent slide from cracking, and the 96 is the .40 Cal version.

Set the video to 720p
Are the decock and Mag release plastic? The chiappa clone is all steel including guide rod.
C'mon already! First 3 minutes all you do is repeat yourself at least 3x about it might be a police trade in. Painful. Get on with the review.
Mmmm! Em Em Em!
Rocket scientist
Get the buffer and polish the feed ramp . Change out the guide rod spring. Get rid of that girly gun and get yourself a Glock.
